From Figures.com:
According to Variety.com, Mattel has signed a multi-year licensing deal with Warner Brothers Consumer Products to become the official toymaker for DC Comics.
The new deal makes Mattel the master toy licensee for the complete DC Comics portfolio, including past and future films and animated properties.
Mattel's brands - such as Hot Wheels, Radica, Fisher-Price, Tyco and Mattel Games - are expected to take full advantage of the deal and create products catering specifically to DC super hero and comic book fans and enthusiasts.
This can only mean great things for action figure collectors as the success of the DC Superheroes line can now expand above and beyond the already produced Superman and Batman characters to include such favorites as Green Lantern, Flash, Hawkman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Arrow Martian Manhunter and other popular (and not-so-popular) characters...
I think this is great news. Mattel and the Four Horsemen have made some incredible figures from the Superman and Batman lines, some (like Azrael, Mongul, and Steel) that should make Hasbro weep in shame over their sorry Marvel Legends.
So my question is what are the top 10 DC characters you want made into figures by the Four Horsemen and Mattel?
Mine are:
10. Green Arrow (Classic Oliver Queen, lots of sculpting, lots of articulation. He can kick ass and actually move well enough to fire his bow)
9. Zoom (I can't believe DC Direct never made him. You repaint a damn Flash! I made a custom of Zoom. I would just like a real one with added articulation)
8. Lobo (DC Direct did a great job but I bet DCSH could make a better one)
7. The Flash (probably current, maybe Wally West)
6. Martian Manhunter (I think DCSH could make Martian Manhunter better than DC Direct, combining great sculpting and lots of articulation)
5. Green Lantern Guy Gardner (I bet a DCSH Guy would kick the sh*t out of the DC Direct one)
4. Green Lantern Hal Jordan (Him and Ollie would make a great 2-pack!)
3. Green Lantern Kyle Raynor (not sure which version, but I want him)
2. Wonder Woman (We totally need a WW with heavy articulation, that has always been my complaint with the DC Direct ones)
1. Deathstroke the Terminator (A highly articulated and detailed version of Slade Wilson would be just about the most bad ass thing ever!)
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The Top 10 Batman/Superman Characters That Still Need To Be Made:
10. Superman Blue/Red (Could make for a cool 2-pack. It's one version of Superman they haven't made that I would be interested in)
9. Riddler (Seems like he deserves to be made, I would like to see a DCSH version of him)
8. Eradicator (I have always thought The Kryptonian was cool.)
7. Penguin (It would be interesting to see what DCSH could do with Oswald Cobblepot, I have never been happy with the DC Direct ones)
6. Toyman (I'm not sure there's ever BEEN a Toyman figure.)
5. Metallo (DC Direct made one Metallo and it sucked. DCSH to the rescue!)
4. Robin (Why do we still get repaints of that lame no elbow Robin from 5 years ago? Can't we get an updated one with more of the joints?)
3. Catwoman (We have 2 different Batgirls but no Catwoman? I would like her Hush attire but wit more movement and better quality, my DC Direct one broke!)
2. Batman Beyond (I would love a 4 Horsemen interpretation of the Terry McGinnis Batman with removable wings. I would be drooling)
1. Nightwing (For the love of all things holy why have we not gotten a highly articulated Nightwing... of any character I have listed, he would need it most! The bastard is an acrobat, he moves like Spider-man! That one they made with no elbow articulation blows!)
