I think the best time to be a wrestling fan was in '98-'99. Especially on Saturday nights (for me anyway). Along with Raw/Nitro and Smackdown!/Thunder on their respective days, you had Shotgun for WWE, WorldWide for WCW, and ECW with their own little show. Just amazing.

The attitude area was an exciting time but for me the glory years of wrestling will always be 1988-92. Back when I didn't know all the behind the scenes stuff, PPVS really meant something, and I would be excited all day when Saturday Night's Main Event was coming on. Back then I knew wrestling wasn't real but I was still pretty much a mark. And I loved every minute of it.
God I miss those days.

late 80s-Early 90s. The attitude era will always be known for drawing big money, but it also needs to be known more for the band wagon jumpers who got on it the first time they heard AUSTIN 3:16 and then jumped off it in 2001 when WCW was bought. The 80s and early 90s were great cause at any given time you could turn on a TV and see wrestling. It could be NWA on sat night or Sun morn. Prime Time wrestling, Sat Night Main Event, Superstars, Action Zone, Mania, GWF or AWA wrestling on ESPN, USWA wrestling, Smokey Mountain Wrestling...Of course WCW took over NWA and they were on Turner networks NON STOP...Those were the glory days

the New Generation era which I class from 94-early 97 (in particular 1995 and 1996 were my favorite years as a WWE fan)

late 80s through the next generation and a bit of attitude when PPV's, angles, belts and matches actually meant something.

wow what a surprise, the exact year you started watching till WCW went under. Any way, I'm going with what Sid said. 87-92, and I'm unbiased as I'm a fan of wrestling from every era, but every time I watch a prime time wrestling from 87 it's just so much more entertaining then the attitude era.

Although I loved the late 90s and 80s a lot... The early to mid 90s were great for me.
from 90-96 was my prime years as a fan.
I got to watch WWF, WCW, ECW, SMW, USWA, IWCCW, Deep South, etc. There was wrestling on every night, I believed the Apter mags, it was gold.
A much as I have and always will love professional wrestling, and watching now, many other eras were probably better, butthere was something special about all of that to me that will never happen again.

I loved 2000 (that's when I started watching WWF). Becuase there was so many good storylines e.g. Who run over Stone Cold?

I only liked the Attitude era mainly when SmackDown debuted in August 1999.

You know, it's easy to say that the Attitude era was the best time to be a fan, but I don't know about that.
In my case, I was much younger and didn't understand half of the things about pro wrestling that I do nowadays, so I'll go with something different for a change.
I'll say right about now is the best time for me. I've been able to track down footage from the early 90s when I was a kid that I never had access to back then. I appreciate the little things about the wrestling business that I would have bypassed when I was younger, especially things like booking matches & feuds, why things went down the way they did, the true story of events backstage and on screen, etc.
I've had a lot of fun the last few years learning as much as I can about different eras of wrestling and the contents of them. So I'll stick with that for my answer.

Nitro was HOT and was a must-see show ever week. RAW had its plus side and then was a must-see in 1998. Plus I loved tuning into WCW Saturday Night.
