Hey all, just picked up a SNES today at the flea market for $30. It looks perfect, and everything seemed to be ok. So as I'm setting it up, I plug the AV cables in and put them to my TV, and it picks up like the system is working, but no picture or sound comes up. It just goes into a black screen but nothing more. I do not know what the problem could be, I used N64 AV cables to try it too, and to no avail. I also tried numerous working games my friend brought over. All help is appreciated

Mine occasionally does this. It's not the AV cable. The cartridge might be going in crooked, or the connector pins in the system might be bent. Just keep inserting until you get it right. Try not putting it in all the way, just slightly stick it in, and pull up just a little bit. Also, Dip Q-tip in alcohol, gently wipe the contacts of the cartridge and the connector pins of the system.

You can do this also! Place the cartridge then push the power switch then push eject then the reset button! I always do that on my Super Famicom!
