I'm curious as to how you break through the offensive line as a linemen? I use those damn finesse or power moves but it never works. Btw do you continuously tap it or just press it once? |

I have a lovely rant, and since I know some people here love them, here we go: If you remember, I have a buddy I play against often on Madden. We bitch about everything while playing. Tonight, was great. I played him twice today. Early in the day, and then just now the game ended. He's always the Bills, I usually use the Broncos (I'm a Cowboys fan, but they're so good in this game, it's not even fair) ...ANYWAYS... In the early game: -Now I'm not holding RT, putting my back to the line and running around like some idiots do online, but sometimes if I'm flushed, I move out of the pocket with my QB (ya know, like a real QB should) to throw the ball. Well, this apparently annoys him to no end. "That's bullcrapdude, seriously...you're playing like it's blitz. You move to the right, wait and hit the wide open WR." ...isnt' that kinda the point? ...ANYWAYS... Move on to tonight: -I decide I'm not going to roll out at all this game and prove a point. I stayed in the pocket for all but 1 pass (I'd say I threw 20-23 times, 7 minute quarters) So I'm throwing short passes. Usually I'm picking away with 5-6 yards. Sometimes breaking those for 10-13, etc. So now he's becoming annoying because I'm doing that. "All short passes, lots to your TE eh? That's so stupid dude." As the game goes on, he complains about me rolling out...which I hadn't done. I tell him that and I get "yeah, but if I  in blitz, you leave roll out and get away, if I don't blitz, you throw the short passes, and if I go man to man and blitz, you get whatever you want. It's so stupid dude. You've become those kids we hate to play." aka the kids that hold RT with their QB and put their back to the line and run around, or run the same play over and over and over and then no-huddle all the way downfield...which makes no sense because I've NEVER done that...he's just frustrated. So it's the goal line and I have a play I really like down there. Call it my "bread and butter." It's 2nd and 5 because he just stuffed my RB on first down for a 3 yard loss. So I go to that play. I always hot route Brandon Marshall (isolated) right, to see if he's in zone or man. I see that his CB moves a good 8 steps to the right to stop it. Then I hot route Marshall up straight. His CB remains...so it's WIDE open. I snap and then throw immediately. Touchdown. I get the... "DUDE...you run that play all the in time. Be original. Switch it up a little. Run the inb all." I respond with "I just did...you stuffed me for a 3 yard loss, so I tried to trick you and throw the ball on 2nd down instead of being predictable...christ." "Yeah dude, but that SAME play you used last game to Marshall...it's in stupid." So I just shut up and let him think I'm a big Madden jerk. I just find it funny that if I roll around with my QB and toss the ball to an open guy, I'm doing something bad. If I even move out of the pocket to create time for my WR to get open...I'm a douchebag. NOW...if I stay in the pocket and throw short passes, I'm a dick also. It's all lose/lose. I also love if my RB breaks tackles and gets a big gain, it's bullcrap" in stupid" and I get the "Dude, you run the same play everytime you run." Mind you...how many ways can you run a ball? Pitch/Up the middle basically...I can't help that. If I could magically do something different...I'd be all for giving it a shot... And now tonight, the hitstick is bullshit. Mind you, it's a bit ridiculous this year. You don't even need to be lined up with someone and they'll still hit them. The computer gives you a little boost. So apparently. I can't move with the QB, but I have to count to 3 before throwing and throw for more than 10 yards. While running, I have to run to a completely different spot on the field, each time. On defense, I can't blitz, and I can never use hitstick. Only dive and the strip. I know it's just frustration because he can't find a way to stop things sometimes...but I can't take it. |

I'm so pissed right now. I was the Bears and I played the Cheifs on computer. Difficulty I don't remember. So, I never lost the lead throughout the entire game. But in the 4th quarter, they finally caught up and it was tied 24-24. Had a PERFECT chance to win, a close field goal with 0:01 with perfect time management. I knew Robbie couldn't possibly miss. But for some stange reason, I blanked out and forgot that the nunchuck was to move the arrow (I have Madden All-Play, although I don't use the mode), so I hoped the wind cooperated with me, and I just miss, I'm talking about by some chance that the ball went over the post, the other way. Needless to say, I'm speechless and pissed.
Lo and behold, they got lucky with a deep pass. Couple plays later, they get enough to attempt a 28 yard field goal, and it just breaks so that they win. 27-24 Cheifs comeback in OVERTIME

Its funny that even if I play a guy I actually know I get accused of stuff much like you do Chuck.
I remember the first time I played a good friend of mine he was Philly of course and I was Dallas. And every play on Defense he said "wow you blitz a lot. all you do is blitz" which isn't completely true. Typically I use Man or some Zone D. When I do blitz I might blitz a line backer to one corner that they like to run the ball just to keep them on their toes.
Well anyway when the game was over it turns out he had double the amount of blitz I had. I'm sorry but blitzing isn't cheating. If you are Nano Blitzing someone then thats different but I don't do that even though I saw on youtube how to because I wanted to know what the hell it was and turns out I've been matched with guys that do that all the time.
Theres a difference between being strategic and just being annoying. Theres like three plays I typically run at the goal line, so what? A dive up the middle, FB Hand off (dual HB), Reverse slant, QB sneak (rarely), and I think thats it. Umm correct me if I'm wrong but when you have a guy like Mario Barber in the backfield then what the hell would you expect me to do? I rarely use play action in the end zone because I always seem to get sacked or picked.
You want to know what I noticed? We all complain about "Real football" and cheaters on Madden like guys that run around like a jackass every play then dish it to their RB for 20 yards. Yet have you seen what they do on that Madden Challenge TV show? They rarely ever stay in the pocket. Sure, you get out when you are about to get sacked but stay in there as long as you can. But on that show, they always go to the far right or left and bomb it. I just thought it was funny that we call it cheating and thats basically all they do.

We should get together and go bowling...I kid...but I am 100% in agreement with you. I started a league with my buddies. We have 9 teams. Since one of my buddies is "new" to the game and a Cowboys fan, I let him be them (I'm a Cowboys fan also). So I chose the Broncos. Great offense...crap defense for the most part. Anyways...I basically have the same idea you have on the goal line. A pass play to Brandon Marshall (the guy is what...7'1"? Why WOULDN'T I throw to him. Especially after I hot route him and he's W-I-D-E open. I'm talking...no one within 5-6 yards. I should try to sneak the ball into a hole and HOPE it doesn't get picked because he didn't pick a different defense? Basically he picked a run defense, I picked that play...of course I'm going to throw to the open guy. You want to stop it? Use a pass defense that works properly on it. Then I get "Well if I pick a pass play, you run it up the middle for a TD..."...THAT IS THE POINT. I WANT you to pick a run defense if I'm passing. I WANT you to pick a pass defense if I'm running. That's the strategy a head coach has. Make the other team pick a defense that doesn't match up with the offense you're running. He knows that. He's 28 years old and has been watching football since he was 6. It's just frustrating I guess. I also run a RB up the middle and try to jump over the line often. And I do QB sneak if it's say...3rd and 1. I know it's cheap and incredibly hard to stop...but guess what? I drove down the field on you. I want that TD. I earned it. I also love when people complain about blitzing. I love when people blitz. After the first time, I catch on and exploit it with slants or curls, or even the long ball. I keep the TE in, or the RB in to block, etc. Most people that complain about blitzing are pissed because they want to run 4 WR and also have their RB go out for passes. Keep people in and protect your QB and you won't have a problem. Simple. I always make fun of the people from Madden Nation, btw. I watch every week and just laugh. Holding RT after the snap and putting your back to the O-line to get away = stupid. How the beta testers said "Yea, I'm okay with that" is beyond me. That should drop their accuracy from like 91 to like...4. I also love how they run the same offensive play over, and over, and over and over. And how they use WR in their RB spots on Shotgun, so they have a better reciever out there. Or how they ALWAYS use the fastest QB. I remember watching people put in Seneca Wallace and think that's okay. So stupid. BTW, I've played one of the members from this years Madden Nation. T-Fonk. He's awful. Leaving the flats open every play. He blitzed a lot and I just threw a lot of curls/slants. I also ran ALL over him with the Titans. (He was the Jags). After the game, he took me off his friends list. How some of those guys make the show is beyond me. "Best Madden players in the world." ...give me a break. They treat the game like it's Blitz. I really want a Beta tester to go through Madden and just realize the many mistakes. From LB that can jump FAR too high, to the QB's 30 step drops and the use of RT, to the QB sneak (I've had someone seriously gain 8 yards without being touched before with me using a goal line blitz A) Meh, I like to vent. |

It's like you expect people online to do that, but you would think your friends in real life wouldn't be douchebags like that. Quitting isn't as bad because it doesnt affect any online record, but still. You guys know what I'm saying?

One of my best friends plays like a tool. 2 point conversions after every touch down, goes for it on every 4th down, refusing to punt EVER, etc. |

I started a Franchise on Sunday, I'm already up to week 10, I have played the games on All Pro. I am sorta scared about going to All Madden mainly because the CPU's accuracy would be perfect, they would pick half my passes, I would probably get 20 yards running, when I get nearly a 90 yards a game right now.

I started a Franchise on Sunday, I'm already up to week 10, I have played the games on All Pro. I am sorta scared about going to All Madden mainly because the CPU's accuracy would be perfect, they would pick half my passes, I would probably get 20 yards running, when I get nearly a 90 yards a game right now. Try playing on "My Skill". I've personally found it to be incredibly rewarding when I pull out a big win. I've noticed the fun factor go way, way up since switching to "My Skill" instead of a preset difficulty. |

Madden IQ is as useless as precision passing was. That's incredibly dumb to say, just because it's not the best this year, doesn't mean it's useless, when they get it working right it's going to make sports games a helluva lot more fun and realistic. |

I never save my Madden IQ. I can beat the computer 64-10, my QB rating can be 130+, I can run for 180, etc...and my Madden IQ has been around 540. I can then have another game and throw 3 INT, run for 60, win 30-27 with their QB going say...18-20 and my Madden IQ was around 630. It just makes zero sense. It's useless. |
