AGOURA HILLS, Calif. - (Business Wire) THQ Inc. (NASDAQ:THQI) and JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (NASDAQ:JAKK) today announced that WWE® Legends of WrestleMania® is currently in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. Joining the distinguished WWE® SmackDown®/SmackDown vs. Raw® franchise, which has shipped more than 37 million units worldwide since 2000, WWE Legends of WrestleMania is scheduled for release in March 2009 to coincide with the annual pinnacle of sports entertainment, WrestleMania® 25, in Houston, Texas.

"The development capabilities afforded by next generation hardware, combined with our established history and deep understanding of fighting videogames, allow us to leverage the strength of the WWE brand to further extend our leadership in the fighting videogame genre and bring this new property to market."
"JAKKS Pacific is pleased to introduce a new WWE videogame property to the fighting genre," said Nelo Lucich, senior vice president of interactive, JAKKS Pacific. As long as they've got a decent roster, I'll definately pick this game up.

It's legit, it just hasn't hit the major news wires yet. It's mass memo they sent out. It's listed on their corporate site as well.

Just look at all the guys WWE has in legends contracts, plus all the promotions they hold the rights to, this game could be epic if they take their time and don't rush it.

Here's my roster guess:
Andre Hogan The Rock Foley The Undertaker Ultimate Warrior(hopefully) British Bulldog Bret Hart Rick Rude Sgt. Slaughter LOD Mr. Perfect Piper Snuka Neidhart Eddie Guerrero Dusty Rhodes DiBiase Iron Sheik
Primarily legend from a previous game, I don't expect THQ to throw too much effort in this. Also based on title, I don't expect many from ECW, AWA, WCW, etc to be in unless they had WM history. This game won't be as great as we all wish it would be. Just like the SVR games every year.

I really hope they can get some NWA classic wrestlers in there. I would mark out for a young Muta/Muto and a young Ric Flair.

I really hope they can get some NWA classic wrestlers in there. I would mark out for a young Muta/Muto and a young Ric Flair. It's called Legends of WrestleMania, so I doubt you're going to see Muta in there. And besides, if they don't have a CS deal, the chances of them appearing in this particular game aren't so good. I'm expecting: Hogan, Rock, Flair, Austin, HHH, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Jericho, Demolition, Legion of Doom, Hart Foundation, Twin Towers, Vader, and a few others. I hope we get a lot of classic WM Arenas.

Nice.
I hope the roster is about 50 guys, about 5-6 arenas.
I just hope they go the right way with this. I hope its focused on the more classic Wrestlemania's (1-10) before the New Geneartion ( I consider the New Generation to have started around KOTR 94).
I hope its not a mix of like attitude guys and classic, id rather just have a straight all out classic wrestling game.
Either way it will be good. I hope they manage to put in a generic WWF arena in.

Not only does this, hopefully, mean no more ing Legends in the SmackDown! vs. RAW games--which I couldn't be happier about--but we're also pretty much guaranteed an amazing slew of Legends because of who WWE has signed on.

like i said in WFT:
THQs last attempt to impress WWE? THQ sucks, they barely change the game every year.
they just overhaul the graphics/menus (seems this is where they put most of the effort), update the roster, fix a couple of bad things, and take out a couple of good things. they just do the bare minimum.
Still, any legends they do sign to be in the game will most likely be eligible for CS, with the THQ-Jakks connection. doubt they'll sign anyone we don't already have in CS tho.

I made the list of, "THERE'S NO WAY THESE GUYS WILL BE IN, BUT IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF THEY WERE"
-Dudleyz -Christian and Edge -Terry Funk (Up your Magnum Douchebag! He wasn't at a Wrestlemania! Check WM2 again.) -Kurt Angle -Hogan (Love/hate relationship with WWE) -Hardyz
With the exception of a specific mother Funker, all these superstars have been in major Wrestlemania moments.
