Was Vengeance 2001 meant to feature the return of Triple H?
Just wondering considering he was on some adverts for it and on the poster.
Come to think of it, Vengeance has had a tiny bit of a rough failure on posters, since HHH didn't return to January 7th, then Steve Austin left a month before Vengeance 2002. And then Undertaker was removed from the Vengeance 2007 poster...
Just hit me yesterday.

From what the dirtsheets were reporting, yeah. Triple H was scheduled to return at Vengeance 2001. It has been said that McMahon asked Triple H if he was ready but Triple H decided to wait a few more weeks.

On Triple H's "The Game" DVD, he said that he was originally cleared to return by that time, but as it got closer and closer to that date, they realized he wouldn't be 100% yet. By that point the posters had already been made and released. A lot of people still expected him to show up though, as there's one point in the main event where the ref gets knocked out and the fans almost immediately start chanting "TRIPLE H! TRIPLE H!" Instead, they got a Booker T run-in.

I was there live. and during the main, i was panicking. i wanted HHH to return so bad, but i was afraid he would cost Jericho the match. i was sitting right above where he could have run in "through the crowd" so i kept checking every like 5 seconds. great night for me though

Yes he was meant to be his return. Here's a pic of the Vengeance 2001 poster.
