...temporarily. www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7011001718______________________ Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis has confirmed they have disbanded, but their split is only temporary.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the vocalist reveals the band have broken up after recording their last album "Stadium Arcadium" and the tour that followed it, as they have all been exhausted.
He said, "Cooler heads prevailed and the discussion at the end of our last tour was, 'Let's not do anything Red Hot Chili Peppers related for a minimum of one year, and just live and breathe and eat and learn new things.'"
Kiedis added that their split was in perfect timing for all of them saying, "I was about to have a brand new son. Flea (bassist) is very inspired to re-up his musical direction and ability and skill and he wants to learn new stuff. John (Frusciante, guitarist) has been firing away on his own, making different solo projects. And Chad (Smith, drummer) joined a jazz band and went to Japan."
"I'm just home, hanging out with this really cool little kid, learning how to surf."
"Stadium Arcardium" was released in 2006. It won the group 6 Grammys including Best Rock Album.
_______________________ Atleast its only for a year and not an "indefinate hiatus" like Blink 182.

Your title had me so ing excited too... True, but I would've still had to hear their music from before they disbanded.

Good. I haven't cared for them since Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Well, I do like "The Other Side" and "Scar Tissue," so I guess Californication's a decent album.

Your title had me so ing excited too... You could make fun of my mother and I'd still find you hilarious and entertaining. Agreed though. I think this is great, perhaps they can come back in a few years and do something that is so unbelievably new and different it just shocks the rock world. ...more likely they will just come back crappy, and be a distant memory like Weezer.

This could be a good thing. I though Californication was decent at best, but absolutely love Stadium Arcadium. If this was their last album ever, I think it would fit, seeing as though they won so many awards and sold well.
Hope they come back and do great.

Why all the hate for RHCP? They are one of the best American bands that haven't fallen completely apart. Stadium was one of my favorite albums of 2006, easily. They are also amazing to see live.
But yeah, I have my RHCP fix for atleast a few years anyways, since I have most of their stuff. FLEA is problay my all-time favorite musician who ISN'T a frontman.

I don't think "Dani California" or "Californication" are either about California.

I think they'll only be away for a few months, when you've been doing something you love your entire life it's hard to stay away for long.

Californication is fantastic. i also think By The Way is a very underrated album. possibly one of my favorites. i love The Zephyr song and Dosed.

Yeah, I read about this on their site a few days ago. It's not that big of a deal because it's not like they're actually not a band anymore--they're just doing their own thing for a while, which is pretty much what any band does during the time they're not making an album or touring. I just can't wait for their next album, whenever it may be.

If there was ever a band that I had to absolutely turn off while listening to the radio, it was the Chili Peppers. I will admit, I don't mind Dani California, but other than that, "meh" pretty much sums them up in my opinion.
