Why They Will Win...
Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Ring Of Honor returns to Hartford on June 6th with the most important event it has ever held in Connecticut. Jay Briscoe has surrendered the ROH World Tag Team Titles. The next champs will be determined in a one night tournament to be held June 6th in Hartford, CT at the conveniently located Connecticut Expo Center (check www.ctexpocenter.com for building info and www.ROHwrestling.com for tickets).
The reason Jay Briscoe vacated the titles is looked at in the current ROH Video Wire at ROHvideos.com. The next ROH Video Wire will have even more details. It has been a tumultuous year for the belts. It is obvious that any team can win them and the titles can change hands at any time. Will this tourney bring stability to the titles? Here is a look at the brackets for the eight team tournament in Hartford:
First Round Matches:
A) Jigsaw & Ruckus with Julius Smokes vs. Adam Pearce & Chris Hero with Larry Sweeney & Sara Del Rey
B) ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Go Shiozaki vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico
C) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black vs. Delirious & Pelle Primeau
D) Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson vs. FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong & Davey Richards
Semifinals:
A winner vs. B winner
C winner vs. D winner
Finals:
A/B winner vs. C/D winner
Here is why each of the eight teams will or will not win the belts on June 6th:
-Jigsaw & Ruckus with Julius Smokes (The Vulture Squad)
Why They Will Win: This team steals the show on ROH's next PPV ("Take No Prisoners" set for May 30th premiere) proving that they have the chemistry of champions.
Why They Won't: The Vulture Squad has been downsized with Jack Evans touring Mexico for AAA and Mercedes Martinez amicably parting ways with ROH so it will be interesting to see how Jigsaw & Ruckus respond.
-Adam Pearce & Chris Hero with Larry Sweeney & Sara Del Rey (members of Sweet & Sour Inc.)
Why They Will Win: Pearce & Hero will sink as low as they need to in order to win and are powered by Sweeney's greed.
Why They Won't: Does this new pairing have the teamwork and chemistry necessary to win a tourney like this?
ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Go Shiozaki
Why They Will Win: This is an all-star pairing who looked good as a team at "Double Feature" night 2.
Why They Won't Win: Can anyone deal with Nigel's ego?
Kevin Steen & El Generico
Why They Will Win: You can safely call them one of the best teams in the world after their matches in Orlando.
Why They Won't: Faced with an all-star duo in the first round.
Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black (members of The Age Of The Fall)
Why They Will Win: They have gotten a taste of the power that comes with the belts and are now hungrier for a dominant reign.
Why They Won't: AOTF might be hungry, but are they focused enough or will Aries, Briscoes and their revolution be a distraction?
Delirious & Pelle Primeau
Why They Will Win: Momentum after surprise win at the Hammerstein.
Why They Won't: Delirious has never held a title in ROH and Primeau is unproven in title situations.
Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson
Why They Will Win: It is Aries & Danielson on the same team, do you really need a reason?
Why They Won't: We are having a hard time coming up with one except that they have a very tough first round contest.
FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong & Davey Richards (members of No Remorse Corps)
Why They Will Win: Both are former ROH World Tag Team Champions and know what it takes to be victorious.
Why They Won't: Can they stop a NRC cold streak?
History will be made on June 6th in Hartford, CT when new ROH World Tag Team Champions will be crowned. This should be one of the most competitive nights in ROH history with so much parity in the tourney and such a big prize on the line. Who is your favorite?

Pretty interesting article put together by ROHwrestling.com. I really want Steenerico to take this.
