RING OF HONOR NEWS AND NOTES ON THE NWA TITLE, DAVEY RICHARDS, EDDIE KINGSTON AND MORE

Ring of Honor Notes & News from the weekend:
The NWA championship belt was revealed as the mysterious contents of Adam Pearce's briefcase. Obviously, the company came to terms with the NWA on using the belt since previously, ROH had been ignoring the existence of Pearce's reign. The belt will be defended in ROH. The 6/27 Dayton, Ohio main event will be ROH champ Nigel McGuinness vs. NWA champ Pearce in a title vs. title match.
The crowd in Philadelphia was down yesterday, the first time in some time Philadelphia has dropped. They return to the market on 9/20.
Davey Richards will be touring with Pro Wrestling NOAH and staying in Japan between tour this summer, so he's done here for awhile. My guess is Larry Sweeney will claim responsibility for sending him to Japan as a way of depriving ROH and their fans the chance to see Richards.
Eddie Kingston was only booked with the company for the two shots this weekend, but obviously that could change.
Julius Smokes missed his bookings this weekend and has not been in contact with ROH, so his status is up in the air right now.
Steven sent the following.... I was also at the ROH show in Hartford last night. I just wanted to add one correction. Looks like J. Brown got confused as he had Castagnoli and Edwards in 2 matches. Actually the second match was Stevens vs Albright vs Necro Butcher. To say it was a fun match would be an understatement. After a short battle in the ring all 3 men went into the crowd, battered one another, an ROH staffer and anyone they could find with chairs. They literally tore down section B. It was my first time seeing Necro Butcher and I'll say he was really hardcore!! In the end, before the Albright beatdown, Stevens won.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Attendance down for the last two Edison shows and now Philly can't be good for ROH. Especially considering it was a PPV but I guess ROH PPV's really aren't a big deal anymore. This shows people are burnt out with the current product. Gas prices surely don't help but if the product was interesting and worth going out of your way to see people will do it.
I'm glad Kingston at this writing was a one shot thing because ROH just wouldn't know how to use him right.
