TSN has learned the New York Rangers have signed Markus Naslund to a two-year deal and Dmitri Kalinin to a one year contract. Naslund is a good signing. I'd rather have that money spent on him than Avery to be honest. I think the Rangers are doing well this offseason except for how they're handling Jagr.

Personally. I wish Naslund stayed in Vancouver, or hell id rather have him then Hossa. Mainly because Hossa costs too much and we have players who havent signed with us again. Like if Im not mistaken. Downey, McCarty. Also we have to sign Zetterberg and Franzen because this season is their last on their contracts.

Naslund may benefit in NY playing with Gomez and Drury, but as far as I can tell, he's lost most of his scoring touch and he hasn't been the same for 3 or 4 years now, at least since he played with Bertuzzi last. Hossa WANTS to be in Detroit, that's why he took a discount to come. You gotta love a guy like that; he's hungry as hell, and Jesus Christ imagine the PP or imagine how awesome it's going to be seeing Hossa take a shift with Pavel or Hank. God I'm getting a boner imaging this... Also, Kenny said that the D situation will be taken care of at training camp. At this juncture, we need to sign Filpulla, McCarty, Downey, and Chelios. The priority is Filpulla, who says he wants to stay in Detroit, so Kenny will get that taken care of. Hopefully he gets something similar to Zetterberg's RFA contract. Chelly will only be playing here, so they can wait to free room with a trade or something until September to get that deal done. I'm banking on Lebda being moved and possibly one of Meech/Quincey/Ericcson. I dunno, but I see a trade happening to free room in the foreseeable future.

Hossa to the Wings is such a WWE heel turn.
It's up there with Austin joining up with Vince at WrestleMania X-Seven.

But seriously, the Pens wasted Armstrong and Christiansen on him, offered him a huge deal, and he ed the Pens over. Oh well, atleast we got back Orpik, Bugsy (Malkin), Fluery.

Naslund wouldnt have cost as much and chances are he would score here. ANYONE can score here. We couldve signed Naslund and have enough for Flip, Mac, Cheli, and everyone who needs to be signed. Not that Im complaining about getting Hossa cause trust me Im not. Just I dont want to see a bunch of our players go to another team for him.

From TSN.ca
The Vancouver Canucks have announced that the team has acquired forward Steve Bernier from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a second round draft pick in 2010 and a third round pick in 2009.
"Steve Bernier is a highly regarded young player who's enjoyed success early in his career," said Canucks GM Mike Gillis in a statement. "With his right-handed shot he will be a great addition to our top six forward group and an asset to our power play."
The Sabres acquired the 6-foot-2, 225 pounder at the trade deadline as part of the Brian Campbell trade. Campbell has since signed with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Last season, Bernier, 23, scored 32 points in 76 games, split between Buffalo and San Jose.
Wow, the Sabres pretty much is losing everybody, WOW! They are where they were 10 years ago.

From TSN.ca
Sources tell TSN Dan Boyle has signed his "no-trade" waiver and has agreed to a trade to the San Jose Sharks.
The deal was finalized late Friday afternoon and an announcement is expected soon.
In return for the 31-year old veteran defenseman, it is believed Tampa will receive a package that will include 23-year old defenseman Matt Carle, a first round draft pick, a prospect and a 4th round pick.
Sources say defenseman Brad Lukowich is also part of the deal going to San Jose.
The Vancouver Canucks and Philadelphia Flyers were the other two teams who made in to Boyle's final three trade options.
Boyle only played 37 games this season after his wrist was cut by a skate in a freak accident, but he put up 25 points on four goals and 21 assists.
He signed a six-year, $40 million extension in February just before the trade deadline. Boyle, who was part of Tampa Bay's Stanley Cup championship team in 2004, had a career year in 2006-2007 when he scored 20 goals with 43 assists for 63 points.
Carle, struggled in 2007-08 posting two goals and 13 assists in 62 games. In 2006-07, he thrived on the point posting 11 goals and 31 assists.
Carle was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 2nd round (47th overall) in 2003.
Well, that's all good for Tampa Bay, and the Sharks as well. The Sharks has quickly filled the void that was left by Campbell with Blake and Boyle.. all the Sharks needs is a power forward that can gel nicely with Big Joe, and they're set.

MOSCOW -- Jaromir Jagr signed with a Russian team a day after his split with the New York Rangers, returning to the club he joined during the NHL's 2004-05 lockout.
Jaromir Jagr
Jagr
The Russian League team Avangard Omsk announced the signing of the 36-year-old Czech winger on its Web site Friday.
"It was the toughest decision in my life, hockeywise. ... No question about it. I hate making changes," Jagr told The Canadian Press.
Jagr's agent, Pat Brisson, confirmed the signing in an e-mail. He and Jagr, as well the team, wouldn't comment on contract terms. However, the deal is believed to be for two years plus an option for a third, and will pay Jagr about $7 million tax-free -- the equivalent of about $11 million a season in the NHL.
Sources told ESPN.com on Friday that Jagr has a "no-out" clause, locking him into staying in Russia for the length of the deal -- at least two years, with a third possible year, at Jagr's discretion.
"It was a very difficult but personal decision to make in light of the many NHL teams interested in his services," Brisson said. "He is grateful to the NHL and especially the Rangers in recent years."
Jagr enjoyed his experience in Omsk during the lockout.
"Don't forget I'm from Europe," Jagr told the Canadian Press. "Russia is nothing new for me. It's close to the Czech Republic. It would be different for American or Canadian players. But for me, I enjoy it. The people love hockey and I had a great time out there."
Pittsburgh, Edmonton and the Rangers are believed to have had the most interest in Jagr. All offered one-year deals.
"I want to thank all the teams that still believed in me and still made an offer," Jagr said. "Edmonton was probably the biggest offer I got. It was a great offer, to be honest with you."
Jagr had long been reported to be considering lucrative offers from Russia. Rangers general manager Glen Sather grew impatient waiting for serious negotiations with Jagr's side and went in another direction Thursday, signing former Vancouver Canucks captain Markus Naslund and making Jagr's return unlikely.
"I'm thankful for the three years I had in New York," Jagr said. "They were great years. I understand that I'm older and the team decided to go in a different direction because they couldn't get the deal done."
If Jagr had reached 84 points or won a major NHL award this season, his expiring contract would have been automatically extended for one year.
He just missed being league MVP two years ago when he was the runner-up after breaking Rangers records for goals (54) and points (123) in a season.
Though Jagr finished with 71 points this past season, his inspired play over the final weeks of the regular season and his five-goal, 10-assist outburst in 10 postseason games showed he has plenty of game left.
Jagr began his NHL career in 1990 and played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals and the Rangers. In 1,273 NHL games, he had 1,599 points on 646 goals and 953 assists.
The Rangers reached the playoffs each of the last three seasons -- the past two with Jagr as captain -- but didn't get past the second round.
After the Rangers' season ended, Jagr indicated he planned to eventually return to the Czech Republic to play for his hometown club in Kladno.
"I don't think I would sign longer than two years, just because of my dad," Jagr said in May. "He asked me to come home in two years. He's helping to build a new arena there and he wants me to be there."
Jagr noted that this might not be the last time he plays in North America, pointing toward the Winter Olympics in two years.
"Maybe," he told the Canadian Press, "I will see you in Vancouver in 2010."
