ROH was close to having Ric Flair as a special guest on the 8/2 Manhattan event. However, the deal is now not possible. If ROH had secured Flair attempts would have been made to get Kenta Kobashi to the event so that Kobashi and Flair would have the opportunity to shake hands in front of the crowd. There are no talks of Kobashi returning to ROH.
This is rather depressing. If it isn't going to happen, I don't think it should have mentioned. I say bring Kobashi in anyway. I'm sure they could put something together for that weekend. I say us fans should gather up and demand Kobashi come in for that weekend. I'll be taking a trip to NYC if that happens. You never know what the power of the fans could do. Maybe a petition could change Gabe's mind.

How would they be able to get Flair? Wasn't Flair recently not allowed to appear at an NWA show because WWE said no, so how would he get the go ahead to appear at ROH?

Come on Gabe and come on Kobashi! Kobashi is my favorite wrestler of all time, and to see him shake the Ric Flairs hand in a ROH ring would be amazing. Plus, I would love to see Kobashi wrestle another match in ROH.

If Vince won't allow Ric Flair to appear at the NWA Hall Of Fame, I seriously doubt he would allow him to appear at ROH.

If the number was correct I'm sure Vince would allow it. For all I know Vince could respect ROH for what they are attempting to do.

Who cares; they would SHAKE HANDS. I wish they could bring it Flair at the capacity they did Steamboat, Heenan, or Foley.

I hope they bring in Kobashi... I'd really like if they'd bring him in for the 8/1 Manassas VA show.

I'm glad it fell through since I won't be there. So because you won't be there you'd rather see this historic event not happen? Come on, that's ridiculous.

It wouldn't be "historic" to me. But it is historic because you have the best wrestler of the 80's shaking hands with the best wrestler of the 90's in a company with the best wrestling in the 2000's. Just buy the DVD, but it's not as if this is going to happen now anyway.
