Even though I'm not a big MMA fan, I would definitely go to a show if they had one in NYC. Oh well.

While I don't think NYC has problem drawing in income, UFC would still be a popular attraction when it came to the city... or Buffalo.

I agree that NY doesn't really NEED MMA because they've got very lucrative deals with other sports.
But the ban on MMA is STUPID AND ASININE. That's what makes me so pissed about this crap.
The MMA of today is virtually nothing like the sport that got itself banned. It's safer, it's more entertaining IMO, and it'd do big business in NY. I just can't fathom why MMA is being held back. Nothing comes to mind. MMA today is a controlled environment designed to promote good fights and protect the fighters at all times. The referee's are constantly involved, some even accuse them of pulling the plug too quickly. MMA may be a violent sport, but it's become controlled violence.
This is incredibly disappointing news, and this is coming from a guy that has never been to New York and probably won't be going there for the foreseeable future. I honestly feel that the men and women deciding this are trapped in the past and don't care enough about MMA to give it a hard, honest look. And that's just...wrong. And stupid. And asinine.
So...yeah.

There are tons of unsanctioned MMA in NY.Just don't let them know where you hold your fights.

So Syracuse really sucks for televised sports I like coming hear and getting our name out their.

MMA in NY would be awesome. Ya know, since I live in NY, and I wont drive to NJ for MMA, because NJ smells bad. (im kidding, GAS is just to high to do such a trip)
Unfortunetly for me, I have rent, car payment, car insurance, and wouldn't be interested in paying $300 a ticket to go to a UFC event.
