Being new to comics, I've just been buying random series to find what I like.
Uncanny X-Men: Only bought #530, wasn't too bad but HugoOne nailed it when he mentioned to me that the artist, Greg Land is lazy with a lot of plain faces and a weird posing of women. Doubt I'll get any more.
Uncanny X-Force: Guess I should have listened to Hugo from the start (also reccomended by Joe Mukau) because I really enjoyed the first issue. Definitely getting the rest.
New Avengers: Heroic Age, with Luke Cage leading his own team. Another series I'm highly enjoying. Maybe someone would like to explain why Luke seems to dislike Iron Man so much though.

Luke Cage and Iron Man have been at odds with each other since Civil War, and the fallout afterwards, where Tony and the Mighty Avengers were chasing down his group of illegal Avengers (Dr. Strange, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Iron Fist, etc.)

k5, what did you think of MAX 11?

*spoilers within. i won't lie, after the long awaited return of ellis' punisherMAX, i was a bit letdown with #10 so last week i decided to pull out the other 9 issues of the series - to refresh both my interest and recollection of the events that've occurred - and it was the right idea. after all, this issue was not written in the format of a 'return issue', it simply continued as if no time had passed in between. by doing this, the story fell into place and i saw just how excellent of an issue #10 actually was - it was the builder, the kettle beginning to boil. so i was, needless to say, more than pumped about #11 hitting stores (seemed so quick considering the wait we've not become used to). #11 was what i had been waiting for. bullseye, psychotic as ever (which was portrayed so excellently with the 5 o'clock shadow and schoolboy grins he omitted at every chance) honestly creeped me out as i read his actions. he's the definition of a family man's worst fear haha. the last few issues have shown how bullseye has dreamt and desired the 'perfect death' for frank and now the shits about to hit the fan. so what does bullseye do, but decide to have a little prayer! the picture of bullseye and frank back to back, with only a wall seperating was enough to make me almost jump out of my seat in anticipation for this battle - how are they going to possibly make this culminate in a big enough fashion that the build up isn't a letdown? love how frank was silent throughout their violence - as he ever is when properly portrayed, brooding and planning...no time for words. i can only hope ellis' next antagonist in line of the punisher is half of the bullseye he has created for us. the vomiting section was enough to make me almost sick for frank. i loved how they really captured the feeling that they'd 'fought all throughout the building' destroying everything in their way. the image of bullseye with the nails in his head was horrifying - shows the brutality each man endured. the pic in my sig is still my favorite image of the issue. frank analyzing, realizing the different variables of the situation. the image of fisk, waiting on the top of his tower, realizing the end of his tyranny is a close second though. i love how he's holding his arms...it's the small things, ya know? awesome how fisk chose to shoot the window, disposing of them both, instead of simply end frank...bullseye, he now realizes, is just as much of a threat. can you say ing awesome issue? seriously, 11/10. this was more thrilling than any movie i've seen this year by leaps and bounds. i can only assume you shared these feelings joe?

Absolutely. I loved that they didn't show the fight where Bullseye got the nails in his head - somehow it seems much more brutal to just imagine it. Puking on Frank was disgustingly, hilariously awesome. The scene where they are back to back with the wall separating them was one of the best scenes in a Punisher comic that I've read. I really want to know what Frank said to his wife. I wonder if a magnifying glass could help read the text? Anyway, can't wait to see Frank in prison.

that magnifying glass is actually an interesting idea. i might scan that page just to do that haha. i really wonder what he said too - but it's one of those things where it may be better if they never tell us. let only bullseye know franks secret. the whole thing is ing great.

Oh man this thread/board is dead. Anyway, after Joe said it was really good I've been reading Ultimate Spider-Man and I'm about 115 issues in. It's crazy how much better this story is over Amazing Spider-Man, Bendis's writing is fantastic, all of the story arcs have been great (especially the Clone Saga,) I really like how different the villains are in this universe like Green Goblin and Hobgoblin are actually monsters and not just crazy guys in costumes, Venom and Carnage didn't get their powers from some stupid ing symbiote that came from space, Doc Ock isn't a total joke and things like that.

It does make me sad how dead this board is but there's only so many people who post in here anyway, sadly.
X-Force is still making my head spin. I love all these seeds their planting for the upcoming Age of Apocalypse arc. Also, getting it twice a month is just icing on the cake.
Uncanny X-Men is finally starting to become relevant/good again. Of course, it helps when your story picks up with Breakworld, from Joss Whedon's epic Astonishing X-Men run, but Gillen seems to have a good handle on this book. Narrow it down to a small cast of characters and give us some good, quality moments. The interaction from Namor, Kitty, and Colossus a couple issues ago was fantastic. Also, I'm thrilled we're finally making Kitty relevant again after doing nothing with her for a year. Dr. Nemesis is also quickly becoming my favorite character is comic book history.
Jason Aaron continues to be great at writing Wolverine. Looking forward to the next arc in the book. I love the cameos in the last issue, and the fact that one of them may play into Wolverine vs. Cyclops in the upcoming Schism. Honest to goodness, it wouldn't surprise me if they kill off Cyclops sooner or later. But I guess we'll see.
Starting to finally get into Captain America. The whole "will he, won't he" of becoming Captain America is interesting, despite the obvious "of course he's going to be Captain America again, there's a movie coming out!" I also enjoy the idea of Bucky in jail with these challenges.
What else....
The Mighty Thor looks to be off to a promising start. Using the Silver Surfer and Galactus doesn't hurt, nor does having Oliver Coipel make the book look beautiful. Amazing Spider-Man continues to be a fun book, and FF is strong. Thunderbolts continues to be awesome as well, with the Underbolts being a brilliant idea, and hopefully getting Songbird more panel-time.
I'll end with the Avengers 12.1 issue. They really set up the status quo for a future important arc, but I wonder how soon it will come. Obviously they have to run through Fear Itself, but will it be immediately after that? I'm really looking forward to it though.

I've just finished catching up on Walking Dead. ****'s so crazy, gonna be awesome to follow it monthly now.
Batman Inc 5 was insane, things are just getting started.
Agreed with Hugo about X-Force. Best Marvel book.
The Gulag arc of Captain America has been really good. 617 was a really good issue.
Ultimate Spider-Man has been amazing.
Detective is still going strong. I like the new crime boss - I like that he seems to be a regular, unassuming dude. Not a swagged out italian gangster or something like that.
What else... Invincible has been decent. Iron Man has been good. Issue 1 of Fear Itself was surprisingly solid. Batman and Red Robin are pretty worthless lately. Batman and Robin too. American Vampire is still good. Feeling really whatever about Amazing Spider-Man, but that's because I cannot stand the FF. PunisherMAX is still great.

Finished up all of Pre-Ultimatum Ultimate Spider-Man, and it was all just amazing. I also read Ultimatum which wasn't good at all. The idea of Ultimatium is really interesting, especially when you hear 32+ characters die but when you read it, it just feels really rushed and the art isn't good at all except in a few scenes. Then I caught up on all of Post-Ultimatum Ultimate Spider-Man which other than the art at times, I am also a really big fan of it. The Death of Spider-Man story has been fantastic and the last scene in the most recent issue has me really excited and sad for what is going to come next. But if I have to complain about one thing it is that they just re-used the beginning of the plot from the arc "Death of a Goblin" with Norman breaking out of S.H.I.E.L.D. along with all of the other villains, I mean they kind of handle it differently with what happens after the escape but I kinda wish they didn't have him break out the same way. I also caught up on Flash, and it's good but I already feel like I don't give a about Flashpoint and it hasn't even started.

You think they're going to kill off Peter Parker in the Ultimate Universe? I fully thought that was the intention until they never actually said they're going to kill him off, even though it's most than likely implied. Not that they're afraid to kill anyone off in the Ultimate universe, I just feel like now it's going to be something inconclusive and he won't die. Any predictions as to who takes over the mantle?

I don't think they'll kill him off, I think if they were going to do that then they would have done it during Ultimatum when they were teasing it, I think he'll just stop being Spider-Man and that's it.
As for who takes over the mantle, I have no idea, maybe Jessica Drew, or Johnny Storm takes over like Parker is taking over Storms role in the 616 universe, or Kitty Pride, or maybe even Flash Thompson.
The only thing I'm worried about at this point is if Bendis is going to stay on after the change happens, and if he does leave will the comic become boring like Amazing Spider-Man is.

I also think he'll just end up with another role in the book, but I won't be surprised if they actually kill him.
I've seen some people speculate that his identity will be revealed and he'll stage his death/change his name (the name change would technically deliver on the promise that it isn't Peter in the new suit). Not sure how I'd feel about that... but as long as it paves the way for more good stories, whatever.

So I finished up all of Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman's Miracleman and it was nothing short of amazing, and maybe even one of my favorite comics ever, still sucks that Gaiman never got to finish his 3 part epic to close out the series.
But even though it was never finished I still say that more people really should check it out because it's kind of crazy that a book as good as this one with these two fantastic writers actually isn't too well known.

Ultimate Spider-Man 160 - I really loved this issue, the ending was great and I cannot wait to see what comes next.
Captain America 619 - Great issue, but it really sucks that this is the last issue with Bucky as Cap since I don't care about Steve Rogers at all.

Read all of Grant Morrison's Animal Man and it was another perfect book from him. Sure I could have done without the issues that went all "save the earth" but the last couple of issues and that insane ending just made up for that and made those issues make sense.
