www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6564&zoneid=2It appears that Dan Henderson’s return to the middleweight division wasn’t a one-time deal to challenge UFC champion Anderson Silva. MMAWeekly.com has confirmed with sources close to the camp of Brazilian Top Team fighter Rousimar Palhares that he has signed to fight Henderson in a 185-pound divisional bout at UFC 88 on Sept. 6 in Atlanta. Henderson has stated several times in the past that he prefers to fight at light heavyweight, but the bout with Palhares will keep him in the middleweight division, at least for the time being. Henderson lost his last two bouts, both being title fights. He was defeated by Silva at UFC 82 in Columbus earlier this year and lost in a light heavyweight title bout to Quinton Jackson in September of last year. Prior to those two defeats, Henderson had won two in a row – over Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort – and held both the middleweight and light heavyweight Pride championship belts simultaneously. One of the fastest rising talents of the Brazilian Top Team, Rousimar Palhares made his Octagon debut last month against Ivan Salaverry at UFC 84. Improving his record to 8-1 as a professional, Palhares also earned Submission of the Night honors and a $75,000 bonus check for his slick submission of Salaverry via armbar. Palhares has finished six of his eight victories by submission, including both Daniel Acacio and Fabio Negao in one night to win the Fury FC middleweight title. He is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic submission specialists to recently emerge from Brazil. UFC 88 will take place on Sept. 6 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta. The main event features former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell in a battle with undefeated Ultimate Fighter Season 2 winner Rashad Evans. UFC 88 Bouts (officially announced): -Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans UFC 88 Bouts (unannounced): -Dan Henderson vs. Rousimar Palhares -James Lee vs. Tim Boetsch

This could be pretty entertaining. Hendo needs to admit that he's got quite the mountain to climb, though. And he needs to keep his f'ing mouth shut after he loses fights. If Hendo takes this fight, hopefully he can make a comeback out of it. If he loses and continues to bitch and moan and make bullcrapexcuses about how factors out of his control caused him to lose...well...

What do you mean about hendo needing to keep his mouth shut after fights? The only slightest sign of real disrespect was when Silva insulted Hendo by the saying the only real champ hes fought is franklin. And I agree with you about Him havinga big mountain to climb. Late theres been three big names who you wouldnt expect to be in two fight losing streaks.....Liddell was in one, Wanderlei lost three, and hendo is at two. Very strange imo. A year ago I'd never predict this happening.

nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/24187721/Assorted quotes: “ I’m a much better fighter than him and more well-rounded. He caught me and that’s the way it goes. I felt he was more lucky against me.” “My body was feeling odd that night. I didn’t have the best weight-cut the last day and a half. My body felt a little fatigued.” “Once on the ground I was fine but got caught with a pretty good punch on the ground and dazed me. The next thing I knew he had my back. I didn’t fight my fight. I wasn’t there 100 percent.” “He’s definitely a talented fighter but no comparison if I’m 100 percent. But that’s no fault to him.” So, yeah. Bitter much?

All the same, talking trash about a fighter that choked your ass out leaves you open to remarks/comebacks like the above images.
I'm all for Hendo returning to his ass-kicking ways with a dominant win, I'm just saying that he better not start mouthing off if he loses. All trashtalking becomes null and void if you lose three straight fights, IMO.
There's no shame in losing to world-class fighters like Rampage and Anderson Silva, but you just can't talk smack about them after they hand you your ass and expect to not get called on it.
I don't care if he's out of his element, or fatigued, or ill-trained, or whatever. If Hendo takes another loss, my viewpoint is: you do not lose three fights in a row due to circumstances beyond your control. When you go on that kind of a losing streak, what it is that's holding you back is obviously something you're trying to cover up with trash talk.
Hendo needs this win very badly, IMO. Or else I predict he'll be packing in the bag and heading to another organization a la Mirko Cro Cop.

I'm a big Hendo fan so I want him to come back with a dominate win over Palhares. I do agree though that he should shut up about the loss to Anderson. Silva beat him fair and square, no excuses.
If he wants to prove that he can beat Silva, get a few more wins, and fight him again. When Franklin got his ass handed to him by Silva, he didn't go around bashing him and making excuses. He respected him and gave him his props. I wish Henderson would shut up and do the same.

I heard about this fight the other night, but didn't feel like posting it lol .. But i really wanna see Hendo vs. Silva II. Silva showed a lot of disrespect not touching gloves with Dan at the begining of the fight, and afterwards saying Rich Franklin was the only true champion he's fought. Yet Hendo took him into the second round, and basically handled Silva through the first round.

Oh i agree with what you're saying, i wish Dan would just forget about it and focus on trying to work his way back up the ladder instead of dwelling on the past. - Iron Heart

Nice.
I just hope people stop talking trash about Henderson... The guy is still definitely one of the top fighters in the world, despite losing to two other top fighters.

I don't understand why people think it was so disrespectful what Silva said.
It is true. Franklin was Silvas toughest challenge in the UFC so far. I would rather see Franklin vs. Silva III then to see Henderson vs. Silva II.

I would rather see Franklin vs. Silva III then to see Henderson vs. Silva II. I don't understand why. Henderson put up a fight when he faced off with the Spider. Franklin was just beat up the entire time he was in the octagon. Spider danced out of the way of Franklin's shots in their 77 fight. Franklin vs. Silva III should not happen. Rampage vs. Liddell III is a fight I think should happen. The first time it was close, but ended with Chuck gettin' a good old Rampage ass whoopin'. The second fight was just the right shot at the right time. A third fight there will prove if Chuck really can beat him. See the difference I am talking about?
