Both Bret and Shawn are my favorite wrestlers of all time.
I have watched every documentary, read every book, viewed every shoot interview based on this thing and I think in the end it really is Bret Hart's fault that it ended how he did. He REFUSED to job the title. You can't leave a federation and flat out REFUSE to job the world title, it just doesn't make any kind of sense.

dude, Hogan rarely lost.... ever. I didn' sat he was jobbing left, right & centre. However he ws prepared to drop the strap in his home country, where he was a huge star, that was my point true, but he was loved in more than just the US. he was a HUGE star.

He had said that he was willing to job to anybody else, even the Brooklyn Brawler, and that he would relinquish the title on Raw the following night if necessary. Yet, I still think Bret screwed himself mostly, as this entire situation could have been avoided if he would have just agreed with McMahon and finished his career with the WWF in Montreal (or the night after) without being WWF Champion.

I don't care what anyone says.
There is no other person that could of screwed bret. Bret screwed Bret. He got what he deserved. If I was Vince I'd of done the same thing. Bret was taking it personnally. If Vince didn't ask him too job too michaels and Bret said he wanted too job too michaels there would've been no reason too screw bret. Therefore Bret must've either said he wouldn't lose too HBK or told Vince he wants too lose the next night. Either way that is refusing too job. Bret got what he deserves Bret screwed Bret nobody else not vince, not shawn, not hebner, not HHH, it is 100% his fault. If you ask me Vince, HBK, Hebner, and HHH deserve medals for doing what needed too be done.

Bret was a b**ch about his title. "I dont wanna lose in Canada cause people wont like it" friggin wah you baby. Youre so talented, you losing isnt going to make people lose respect for you, so no, Bret Hart screwed Bret Hart and if I were Vince I would do the same thing In todays wrestling, I'd agree with you. Back then, Bret Hart had an America vs Canada thing going on and it got to the point where it was making national news. Dropping the title at that time in his own country and then to walk away from the company would probably have been the most blasphemous thing EVER in the eyes of hardcore Canadian wrestling fans.

Bret Hart is probably one of my favorite wrestlers right next to, or in front of sting. Even though Im stll pissed about what happened in Montreal, I think it's interesting for there to be conspiracies and strange disagreements in a planned out entertainment show.

Well, the particulars are that Bret said he did not want to job the WWF title to Shawn MichaelsWhich is understandable, since HBK more or less refused to do the job at Wrestlemania 13. And, it's worth mentioning that most of the problems between the two started after WrestleMania XII, when Shawn defeated Bret in the Ironman match, as everyone knows. Shawn had gained all of this political power once Bret took time off, so that when he returned, obviously there were going to be some problems. It didn't start getting heated until the summer of '97 when the backstage fight occurred and Bret almost got his hands on Shawn before it was broken up. Shawn loses a clump of hair (this was during his tag team title reign with Austin), basically quits the company and has the belt forfeited, before returning a few days later and going back to work. I think Bret has a lot more to use against Shawn than goes vice versa. Michaels refused to job to almost everyone (kind of makes you wonder how current internet fans would react to him in this day and age) whereas Bret was still willing to work with guys and help build new stars, such as Steve Austin and, in some form, Rocky Maivia, as he was a supporter of Rocky. Hence, why Rock has so much nice to say about Bret Hart nowadays and probably won't ever agree to an HBK/Rock dream match anytime soon.
