Post-fight thoughts from Irvin and Silva. Credit goes to MMA Mania, MMA Weekly, and Sherdog. Silva on His Win: “Basically, I’m a muay Thai fighter,” Silva said through an interpreter after the fight. “I’ve been doing muay Thai since I was a kid. I didn’t step into the 205-pound category to disrespect any fighters. I’m here to do my job. But you know, you stand up and exchange muay Thai, this is what happens.” Irvin on His Loss: He’s a scary dude…. It was a flash knockout, because I didn’t know what hit me after that. Even waking up, I was covered in blood. He got me right on the money tonight…. I don’t think I’ll have another (chance) as big as this.”Very powerful statement by both men. Kudos for Irvin for admitting that he got heinously KTFO. Silva earns mass cool points for making the "This is what happens" comment.

I said it before the fight, and I'll say it after the fight --- this really didn't do much for Anderson Silva. I mean, yeah, he kicked the crap out of James Irvin and looked good in his 205 debut, but the question still remains -- how would he do against a good 205 fighter?
Nevertheless, Anderson Silva is unreal. The guy has an unbelievable all-around game. He's so exciting and fun to watch -- I just wish he spoke English.

C.B. Dollaway, Rory Markham Frankie Edgar and Hermes Franca each earned $25,000 "fight night" bonuses for their performances at UFC Fight Night 14. The recently organized card, designed to counter upstart rival organization Affliction's debut pay-per-view, was held at The Palms Las Vegas Saturday night and aired live on pay per view. The bonuses were good for a $5,000 increase over the organization's previous Fight Night card. (The Spike TV events typically carry a smaller bonus potential than pay-per-view events.) The "Submission of the Night" award went to "The Ultimate Fighter 7" runner-up C.B. Dollaway. In a match-up most MMA fans expected to see at some point during this past season's filming, Taylor battled through an illegal knee from the eventual victor only to be caught in a rarely seen Peruvian necktie submission. The bout was Dollaway's first official victory in the UFC -- in a fight he felt was a must-win. "I was just excited to get the chance to fight again in the UFC," Dollaway told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I hope to be back (at a UFC event) sooner rather than later." Markham battled back from early adversity to secure "Knockout of the Night" honors. In a series of events destined for a future "Ultimate Knockouts" DVD, Markham retreated from fellow UFC newcomer Brodie Farber's advances then landed a beautiful right high kick that dropped Farber instantly. The process took just 97 seconds. Lightweights Edgar and Franca earned "Fight of the Night" honors for their 15-minute war. In the first fight for each fighter after individual struggles, Edgar scored a convincing unanimous-decision victory by outworking Franca throughout the bout. Franca was resilient throughout and forced Edgar to escape from multiple submission attempts. - Iron Heart[/center]

Frankie edgar always delivers exciting fights, same with Clay guida, Hermes Franka, roger huerta and Tyson griffin. I think the lightweight division is very very promising with all the great talent. Call me crazy, but i think the lightweight division is more exciting the Light Heavyweight division currently.
