Fighting at 205 pounds] is an experience we are doing for several reasons, and one of them is a request from Dana White…. I don’t have a desire to fight in this category and am only doing it because I was asked and I think I can. I have no desire to dispute this belt because Lyoto has already proven that it belongs to him. I am taking this fight because I like to fight and I like the challenges.”
UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva shares some insight on his move up to light heavyweight to take on James Irvin at UFC Fight Night 14. “The Spider” reveals that he has no intentions of competing for the 205-pound belt as long as undefeated training partner and friend, Lyoto Machida, is in the picture. However, there is not telling when Machida will get his shot at championship glory — there is quite a long line of potential challengers in the division.

Oh noez, the Machida arguments have found their way onto WresFigs.
Damn Machida is a controversial dude. It's all something like "he's boring" being countered with "he does stuff 'real' fans watch and appreciate".
Why doesn't anyone want to fight Machida? Didn't one of his own opponents say "He's like a ghost, I can't catch him"?
I say, put him up against the absolute best and we'll see which side wins.
In regards to Anderson, he's just complimenting a friend and training partner. It remains to be seen if Machida has what it takes to claim the LHW belt, but I think Machida deserves the opportunity to do so.

Machida would be the champion by now if he could finish fights.

Machida would be the champion by now if he could finish fights. And if he would stop running away so much during his fights. - Iron Heart

Machida needs one more top 10 LHW fight to be considered for the title shot
Machida vs Shogun/Rampage/Wanderlei

oh Please...what has he done to fight for the title... 13 wins..8 BY DECISION...BORRRRING!!! and looks like his big name fight that he won..was against Tito...a Tito Ortiz def. not in his prime anymore and in a fight that he had nothing to gain from winning. He beat BJ Penn it says on his record..but that was 3 years ago...since then he has fought big flops and thats all..Sokoudjou ?? come on ?!!! and im not hating on the guy..he got skill no doubt...but I think there is plenty others he must try to beat before challenging for that belt.
