Well, After hearing about the recent incident involving former UFC Light-Heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, it left me stunned. I just can't believe he would do something like this and risk throwing away his career like that. It only makes him look like a criminal and a ing idiot. Seriously, who wants to be a fan of that guy now?? I know I sure as hell don't. This is like UFC's version of O.J. Simpson or Michael Vick or something like that. This makes UFC look terrible and I believe Rampage should be fired. You can't do what he did and expect to keep your job. ANYONE else would be fired over it and you all know it. So, long story short. Should Quinton "Rampage" Jackson be fired? Yes or no??

I think this will be very interesting to see how the outcome will be from the UFC. If he is not fired I see at least 6 months suspension and dropping to the bottom of the title picture.

I don't think firing him would be a good idea for the company, he creates a lot of publicity, and I am pretty sure that Dana knows that. I don't think he will be fired for this. Especially if Dana is gonna bail him out of jail

I think he did a stupid thing (based on what we know right now, anyway). I think the average joe would get fired for something like this. But I don't think UFC will fire him.
They key here is Jackson's stature -- they're just not going to drop a big-name fighter for something like this. They don't even fire the midcarders that often when they screw up, so Quinton is definitely safe (again, based on what we know... which isn't a lot).
In fighting, like all sports, famous athletes simply get more leeway when they screw up. Why? Because there is money on the table. That's just a reality of pro sports. A money-drawing pro athlete would have to do something unthinkable to get himself fired, because it would take a PR nightmare of epic proportions to make it worthwhile for the athlete's employer to give up profit to fire the guy.
I don't even think you can compare this to previous UFC precedents like Jesse Taylor, Jon Koppenhaver, or Rob Emerson, because none of those guys drew money. The UFC loses nothing financially if they cut those guys. The lose a lot if they cut Rampage -- especially if he lands on his feet with the competition on CBS or PPV.

It's a hard call. Rampage made a mistake. I really need to hear his reasoning, before I give a "fired" or "saved" vote.

from Rajah.com. Also posted in the other Rampage thread:
We reported here yesterday that UFC star Quinton "Rampage" Jackson was arrested at gunpoint yesterday in California after crashing into 2 cars, fleeing the scene and leading police on a 5-minute car chase. He was charged with felony hit and run and felony evading arrest and was taken to a hospital last night for evaluation. New details have surfaced regarding the incident.
TMZ.com reports that Rampage was on the 55 Freeway in Orange County, California when he hit 2 cars. Instead of stopping, he got off the freeway and the police chase was on. Rampage then began driving on the center divider. According to the police report, Jackson then drove on the sidewalk, "causing pedestrians to flee for their lives." He started driving the wrong way on a crowded street, colliding with yet another car in an intersection. It's not over yet.
As he continued on, running several red lights, his tire blew out and he began driving on the rim. He eventually got to Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, where he again driving on the sidewalk, "causing pedestrians to flee in terror."
His car eventually came to a stop and he was taken into custody at gunpoint. Cops took him to the Orange County Jail, but they determined he was "medically unfit" to be booked. No word on whether drugs were involved. Rampage is currently under evaluation at an Orange County hospital.
In an interview conducted with Throwdown TV just 24 hours before the incident (video link), Rampage seemed a little off, but revealed that he had been battling depression, injuries as well as sleep and weight issues in recent weeks.
Sorry Rampage, but you got's to go.

^ Exactly man. Now that we know more about it, he's got to go for sure. It shouldn't matter who the hell he is. What's done is done and he's got to face the consequences. He endangered people's lives when he drove up on the sidewalk, so for that alone, he should be immediately fired. But no, there was also the two cars he smashed into and took off because he's a coward and didn't want to stick around to face the music, so he led the cops on a police chase. There is no way in hell Dana should let him slide on this. Just no way. I say fire his ass. He's a ing idiot and he should have his driving license taken away if he's going to be driving like a ing lunatic. I'm just glad he didn't hit any pedestrians while he was driving up on the sidewalk trying to make his getaway. Fire his ass Dana. You don't need an idiot like that working for your company.

Your an idiot. Really you are. You don't know the whole story so until you do please do us all a favor and shut up. I can tell you from talking to a couple people that train with Rampage. That he was in the gym yesterday morning walking around. He has been taking medication for the pain in his leg. He started taking depression medication 2 days before this happened as well as sleep aids also prescribed 2 days before hand. All prescribed by doctors. And he was taking the proper amount. From the people I talked to Rampage was walking around like a zombie. And when they talked to him he was slurring his words and had a dazed off look in his eyes. When they asked him if he was OK he said "yeah man, the doctors said it will take a few days for my body to get used to this shit." That is all I know right now.

^ Ok man. I may not know the whole story...I am only going by what I read above and I suggest you do the same. And from what I read, that's more than enough for me to sway my opinion the other way against Rampage. You are calling ME an idiot?? Give me a ing break here. I think the REAL idiot here is Rampage Jackson. If his medication had been affecting him that much, then why in the world didn't anybody stop him from getting behind the wheel of his truck?? Stop making excuses for the guy. He's ing guilty as hell and should go to jail. People are responsible for their own actions no matter what. He made the decision to get behind the wheel and he made the decision to continue his path of destruction until he couldn't continue anymore. He deserves everything coming his way. Rampage did the crime and now he's got to do the time. All there is to it.

^Do you personally know why Rampage did what he did? No. All you know is what the media is saying. And if Patrick Bateman is telling the truth about him taking all those new Meds and all, I wouldnt be suprised if thats what made him so unstable.

that would not be a smart move by ufc. affliction would surely sign him as well as tito and maybe randy to build up a light heavy division to rival ufc's.

^Do you personally know why Rampage did what he did? No. All you know is what the media is saying. You are right. I have no idea why Rampage did what he did and I'm sure neither did he. He clearly wasn't thinking right, that's for sure. And you are right, all I know is what I have read and what the media is saying and there's definitely some truth to it. I mean, come on man. The ing pictures don't lie. Like I said before, Rampage is guilty as hell and should definitely pay the consequences. Anyone else in the same situation would and you know it. No matter what medication he was on, it still doesn't excuse what he did. He endangered peoples lives when he was fleeing like a coward trying to get away and started driving like a ing maniac up on the sidewalk and stuff. How you guys can defend him when you know what he did, is just mind-boggling. Send his ass to jail and give him some real time to think about what he did.

^ After what Rampage did and knowing that he is fully responsible for his actions, you are still calling ME an idiot?? I don't get that at all. Like I said before, if there's any idiot here, it's the guy responsible, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Nobody else. Only in a world as ed up as ours, can someone as guilty as Rampage get sympathy from most of the people here. That's just sad....

Pills can make you do things and not even be aware youre doing it. Jackson should take responsibility, and he is or he wouldnt be cooperative with police. BUT theres still a major possibility he was doped up on pills and had impaired judgement.
