Aside from the performances from Ledger and Eckhart, my favourite part/s of the movie were the little elements they took from the inspired Bat-stories and how they were brilliantly placed into the film. Even a few of them with a 'twist.'
- Gordon disguised as the swat member instead of Batman (TLH) - Joker giving himself a new back story, sort of like how its explained in The Killing Joke where he doesn't even know his past - His announcement of which people he was going after next with a really cool creative twist instead of announcing it on the radio (although it seemed a little too clever, like it should have been a Riddler method, but no worries)
Bah, I won't go through all the ones I noticed but it was superb.
The action sequences were some of the best I've ever seen. Ones that I didn't 'snore' through. Big explosive action sequences never really have me gripping my seat like they're probably intended to do, but when I saw each one, I wanted to rewind and see them again.
The ending is basically perfect; if they do a third, it's possible, but if they don't, then TDK is a good close with no blatant cliff hanger. I'm not even all that convinced that Dent/Two-Face is dead to be honest. Maybe I just didn't pay enough attention, but it just seemed like it wasn't clear enough.. like if they do a third, he's alive, but if they don't, he's dead.
I'd start naming my favourite few scenes, but it's way too difficult. It may have been the interrogation scene, though. The fact that Joker was laughing at getting his own ass kicked was incredible. I also loved it in the end when he described that he could see him and Batman "doing this forever." It's a nice little reference to their never ending feud from the comics.
Speaking of the end there with Joker.. was I the only one reminded of Batman '89 when he started falling? It was almost like they teased that The Joker was going to die for the second time in the exact same way before Batman saved him. I know it probably wasn't intentional, but I kind of laughed to myself thinking that.
Anyway, I could write a book on my thoughts on the movie. It was perfect and the best film-going experience of my life. Yeah, I'll probably say it's my favourite movie ever. If not, then a close second/tie with The Prestige. I can't wait to go again, and I can't wait for the DVD.
Oh.. another thing. It was so awesome to see it in theatre with so many people because, when Gordon's revealed as the swat member, EVERYONE in the audience started cheering and clapping. As well as a few other moments in the movie, but that was the loudest one. So fun to experience.

I must have been the only one who laughed for like 5 minutes at Joker clapping with everyone in the cell.
Holy crap that was funny.

I didn't think of Two-Face not being dead until now. After all, the Batman/Maroni scene and the "a fall from this high wouldn't kill you" thing could've been a slight hint to that.
Anyways, there's no way they could top this movie. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they stop after this one.

I must have been the only one who laughed for like 5 minutes at Joker clapping with everyone in the cell. Holy **** that was funny. I was hysterical when Joker started waddling out of the hospital in the nurses outfit. The lady next to me was like, "Oh my!", at the fact that he was blowing up a hospital and I'm next to her in stitches.

I can't see Two Face NOT being dead. You can't have a public funeral and whatnot for someone and not be able to produce a body of some sort. Not to mention, that was a fairly long fall. The only reason Batman was able to make it was that he fell from about 6 feet lower, since he was hanging on to a board. Dent just went straight down, with the momentum of being pushed as well.

I loved it. I loved the Harvey Dent story. I kind of expected him to survive. But oh well. The story worked out well enough for them to kill him off. I liked how they still honored him in order for people to not be able to see what he became. Especially after some of the things Dent said throughout the film.
I also loved how The Joker survived. Doesn't mean I hope he pops up in a future installment. Ledger knocked it out of the part. I don't think it would work well for this series to replace him. If they do, they need to set it up in a less prominent role. Perhaps Batman gets a new nemesis and The Joker is locked up in the asylum and Batman goes to get some info from him like Hannibal Lecter or something. lol. They could just show him from a distance and get someone to do the voice well.
I nearly got pissed when Gordon was "killed". I was thinking "this sucks! They can't kill him off!". But it was a great twist when he showed back up. I have never really followed the comics too thoroughly. So if that is a plot twist that's been examined before I was unaware and it "got me". It made a heck of a lot of sense to kill off Rachel. Especially since she was created just for this film series. It gave Dent a reason for his insanity.
But again, I would have liked to have seen Dent survive. It would have been interesting if they had simply put him in Arkham and never told anyone what happened to him. He could have broken out in a future installment and the people of Gotham would have been like WTF!? But it worked well as they did it. I really liked the scene where Batman turned his face to the "Good side"

I really hope they do a Bane Storyline after a few more movies and Batman has to battle all these Villains again in a few nights just like the Comic until he's mentally broken and faces off with Bane in the Mansion.
Wishful thinking.

Wishful thinking. Glad you mentioned that. I totally forgot about that storyline. It would make a great movie and just about the only thing that could live up to TDK. But after the Joker, could a movie with just the Riddler or the Penguin really compare? Nah... it would take something like Bane and this story of Batman getting his back broken.

A couple of the funniest scenes in film are...
When Joker slides down the enormous pile of money and sets it on fire.
And when he sits next to Harvey Dent in the Hospital just after revealing himself in that nurse outfit and says"Hi".

I do hope they make a third, doesn't mean they will, but I sure as hell hope for it. Especally at the end where Batman convinces Gordon to blame him for Dent's murders, and the manhunt is issued. The destroying of the bat signal was symbolic in a way. The whole manhunt for batman plot has me interested though.

Oh, I may be either stupid or blind as hell, or maybe both, but I have one question. Why didn't those boats blow up? I don't remember Batman pressing any buttons or disabling anything.

When Joker first walked into that mob meeting, he was funny. Then he said "I'm gonna make this pencil disappear," which we all thought was still comedic, but then we flipped the ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) out when he did that "magic trick." Joker was badass, but freakin' hysterical. Judging by trailers and commercials, I thought Joker's clapping in the cell was going to be slow, but then it was fast and comical. Pretty much everything he did at the hospital was great, from the "Hi," to the walking out of the hospital. I can't get over how much I loved this movie. And it was hilarious when Tommy 'Tiny' Lister was shown for the first time and my best friend yelled out "Yeah Deebo!" And when he was shown again another guy yelled "Yeah Deebo, run that ****!" After Bruce sacrificed his Lamborghini it was silent in the theater, and my other friend said "Ohhh the car!," and got a bunch of laughs. I talked with a lot of other friends were saw it too, and overall I had a great time. Definitely gonna see this again with anybody I know that would like to.

The Joker had an extra remote to blow both boats up, but Batman struck him in the face with his arm "ammo" before he could get a chance.

I don't understand it

Sooooo tired and pleased in every way.
But I'll say this before I head to bed...
-Favorite. Movie. Ever.
-Amazing in every way.
-I knew Joker would be insane, but he had so many funny moments. AMAZING.
-If you dislike the "Bat-voice" you'll walk out of this one, lol, but I don't mind it...
-Anyone else thought they replaced Scarecrow? His voice sounded nothing like him and even when he was unmasked, I was still questioning the hiring of a look-a-like, lol. GREAT to see him show up though.
-Two Face was perfectly done, the story was amazing and worked so perfectly with the story. The effect of the scarring was PERFECT. Sick and disturbing.
-Joker is PERFECT. It's gonna take a looooooooong time before someone takes on that role again, you just can't live up to that.
-YAY, Dawes is dead.
-Gordon is the man.
and my final thought...
There is no way I will ever want another film in this series. I'll go as far as to say it's impossible to be done.
-If you re-cast Joker, no matter who steps into those shoes, it will not be right. He was perfect. Enough said.
-TDK ended so that there is no more Batman universe without Joker. Batman won't kill him. Joker won't stay locked up, he pretty much HAS to be around now. There's no way The Riddler can show up and Joker just step aside and not be involved.
I will go even further to say that even if Heath was able to return for a third, I don't see a reason for it to happen. Joker said it best, they'll pretty much be at it forever. And I'm sure nobody would mind seeing Batman and Joker go at it again and again, film after film, but in reality, it's not needed.
TDK delivered it all.
Of course, the way they ended it with Gotham's view on Batman...it just seems like that's what makes things feel unfinished. Like this was the second act in a three act play.
But I think there are just too many reasons to not make a third.

Greatest movie ever. I could have sat for 24 hours watching it and it wouldn't feel like it was too long and drawn out. Ledger was beyond amazing. It seemed everything he said was gold. When he walked out of the hospital and couldn't get the button pushed, just sitting there talking about killing the police to that officer, everything. Not to mention his little one liners. "Now We're Talking" as Harvey puts the gun to his head with the coin. Stuff like that can't be duplicated.
Anyway, I really hope they do the "hunt down Batman" thing in the next movie, similar to the small storyline in the 2003 Batman Adventures comic.

I didn't mind that Two-Face died. His story was long enough and had enough put into it that it just felt complete. I'm sad that Joker survived because that means they obviously wanted to bring him back and now they never can. The movie was amazing and definitely lived up to the hype but its still only my 2nd favorite of the year, behind In Bruges.
my Oscars:
best actor: Heath Ledger best movie: In Bruges

I agree on the Joker/Hannibal Lector thing....they could easily dress up someone for the part and possibly regenerate heath's joker voice for some small scenes. I'd really like to see Dent live too, or at least completely die as Dent and keep Two-Face alive. They could always explain that he took some sort of dose of something to make him appear completely lifeless like they did in the first Saw, then have someone come to dig out the body later

Basically, to describe TDK, it was a 2 hour and 32 minute Orgasm. 2 hours and 35 minutes if you count the Watchmen trailer.
