Yeah, after seeing that, I am definitely glad Ledger got the look he did. That second pic, as Geek said, was too far. Looked like someone out of a hardcore slasher film. Reminds me of Leatherface. Thanks for those great pics, Mal.

My jackass friend wore a half-assed Batman costume. I just wore my lame-ass Batman t-shirt. Have not laughed this hard in a while! Thank you!

I'm holding out for a sequel, especially with the numbers this movie pulled in. Now you may never top Ledger's Joker, but could we really just leave Joker out of the third film? Also, would it not be awesome to see Penguin for a third film. Very realistic if you do it right. TDK left a lot open but also had a lot of closures, what with the letter to Bruce being burned and all. But I'm hoping for a third film.
About the Riddler, he would be good but how could he be introduced. Please no one say a Bruce Wayne fanatic working for Wayne Enterprises...

Was there a "In Memory of Heath Ledger" at the end of the film? I kind of rushed to the toilet when the movie ended.

Listening to the soundtrack. "Why So Serious?" is such a cool track.

I think it would be stupid to leave the Joker out of the next film. You couldn't even tell that was Heath Ledger under the make-up. You can't leave the joker alive and in 'jail' and not show him again in a trilogy (if there is one). Hell, have a shadow over his face in a dark room just talking people into committing violence. Just because Heath's dead, doesn't mean a character is. It's not hard to watch the joker and then mimic a voice and start acting like him, actors are paid to do it, so have at it I say. Just don't make him the main villian. The Riddler would be like watching a huge budget Saw movie..

I saw it today in IMAX in NYC. I tried not to get all caught up in the hype and internet marketing as much as others because I did for Spider-Man 3 and thought it was absolutely terrible and a huge letdown.
With that being said, The Dark Knight was really just an amazing film from start to finish. The script was just superb, as was the entire supporting cast. Just an awesome job by everyone in the movie. I was also glad to see Gordon have a bigger role in this movie.
Heath Ledger was absolutely amazing. I can honestly say I really don't know if I would have enjoyed the movie nearly as much with someone else playing the Joker now that I saw what an unbelievable job he did. I can't possibly imagine them recasting the Joker for the next movie...it just wouldn't be the same. I'd just go with a new set of villians and let Joker go out on a high note. That's really the best option, unfortunately.
Aaron Eckhart was really awesome as Harvey Dent. All I've heard about going into the movie was about Heath Ledger's performance...well, as good as he was, give Eckhart credit, too. He was absolutely tremendous. I hope they find a way to bring Two-Face back for the next one.
I also agree that Bale can overdo it with his Batman voice. I understand what they're trying to do - they want him to sound deeper and raspier to disguise his voice. This isn't the 1960s anymore, where Batman can talk the same as Bruce Wayne without anyone noticing it. It's similar to the way they did Clark Kent and Superman in Superman Returns. It's just a matter of conforming to the audience of this generation, even if it does seem somewhat ridiculous at times.
Dark Knight is probably my favorite movie of the year, followed by Iron Man.
