If they changed the origin of the Joker, and Two-Face, why wouldn't they change the origin of the Riddler?
In Batman '89, Joker was the one who killed Batman's parents......not in Batman Begins or Dark Knight.
In Batman Forever, a mobster on trial throws ACID in Harvey Dents face.....in Dark Knight he knocks himself over and falls in to gasoline.....
So clearly they are changing things, so people trying to guess who working at Wayne Enterprises is going to be the Riddler......I guarantee you it won't happen that way. WHY MAKE THE SAME MOVIE WE'VE ALREADY SEEN (Batman Forever)? If things happen the same way then it's boring, clearly they will and SHOULD change the origin to make things interesting.

Just my personal opinion, but I think a lot of people pay too much attention to every little detail while comparing it to the other Batman movies/ comics/ cartoons, pretty much like Lorenzo said. They have to mix things up and change the storylines around because this is a different time period with a different audience and an entirely different cast.
Comparing Heath Ledger to Jack Nicholson just seems silly to me because the Joker characters in both movies are completely different, as is the chemistry with other actors. It's the same way you can't really compare Keaton and Bale as Batman, either.
I just watched the movie and enjoyed it...I'm not trying to be "that guy" who ruins everyone's debates here, but whatever.

It's very sad, no one should ever see a movie more than 1 time. It's inhuman. Well, I might see it tonight or Wednesday again. Then I am going to buy the DVD. I saw it once last saturday, I'll just wait for the DVD

now, if there is a 3rd film, I hope it doesn't jump the shark because TDK is pretty damn hard to top.

Anyone know the name of the song that plays during the start of the credits? I listened to "A Dark Knight" from the soundtrack but it doesn't seem to include that part. I'm guessing it's the "new" Batman theme but I wasn't sure what it's called and if it may have been on the first soundtrack for that reason.

I really dont think theres any doubt there will be a 3rd movie, it was very open ended and did so much at the box office

I have read almost every reply on this topic and I have come to my own conclusion.. This is Nolan's version of Batman first and foremost.. Nit pickin'!! Sir Oreck Vonlicktinstein did an amazing job at making the joker character dark.. deep.. psychotic, his joking was sinister.. It was a completely different version of the joker character than the one Jack played.. So if you wanna compare I say Ledger hands down played the best Joker character, and I enjoyed Nolans joker a helluva lot more than the other one.. I also feel that the fact Ledger was into the role so deep outside of shooting the film that eventually it led to his death made this Joker character that much more evil.. Because when Heath Ledger died he was very depressed and in a dark place.. I don't think there is a need for Joker to have ANYTHING to do with any other of Nolan's Batman movies.. Same goes for the Two Face character. He wasnt a super huge villian but it definitly added to the plot and Ledgers character in showing everyone can be like him, which was his purpose the entire time.. The Dent/Two Face character did its purpose for this series of Batman. And I would not be dissapointed if this is the last Batman movie. I was very impressed, I could sit here and bash this movie in alot of ways too don't get me wrong.. But lets be honest.. This was not a dissapointing film in anyways.. But then again I would still love to see Nolan do one more Batman.. As long as it was a closer film that had new villians and an actual ending to Nolan's possible Triology of a good Batman saga.. tbh I give this flick 4 out of a possible 5 stars.. And Batman Begins gets 3 out of 5 for me.. Cainic!!

And Batman Begins gets 3 out of 5 for me.. Cainic!! It just seems that they set up more to come between Batman and Joker, that story isn't really resolved, and, really, they could've explored it a bit more. In dealing with Batman, Joker made some valid, truthful points that would've made Batman at least stop and think twice about it, but instead he just got angry and beat him up, they didn't get into the psychological battle between the two as much as they could have. If Ledger didn't die, and, even maybe still, I'd have the Batman being hunted and on the run in the 3rd one, with the public and police against him. Joker escapes, and messes with Batman by showing him how fast they all turned on him, how everything Joker said would happen, would. (Technically, Joker did win in TDK, he tore Dent down and what he said would happen to Batman, did happen). Anyway, Joker goes on a killing spree so brutal that the only person anyone can turn to to stop him is Batman. Batman stops him, Joker dies in the process, and they tie things up with the idea that Batman has finally saved the city but will be there anytime he's needed.
