I did the GNC one's for about 10 weeks. You had to have three Shakes a Day, each with 500ml of Milk. Was ridiculous, and cost a good £15 a tub. Worst of all, it made no difference at all.

Right then, ive tried some horrid whey protein which is like 95% pure protein and i wouldnt reccommend it, at this very moment i am taking Body fortress banana whey and sticking two bananas in for extra taste and fruity goodness, it is from holland and barrett and costs alot but usually is on sale for around 15-20 pounds. for cheaper more pure protein go to www.myprotein.co.uk , i can 100% vouch for this company as i ordered from there for about a year and their protein is a decent taste and a great price.

www.monstersupplements.co.uk is a good site. I wouldnt use Holland and Barrett Body Fortress ones as they pack it with sugar. go for Reflex or Maximuscle

Rather than using just purely protein shakes, get some roasted monkeys nuts and pumpkin seeds and incoporate these into your daily diet. They are the most effective and easiest way to consume more protein that is needed to build muscle. I use these along with the whey protein from Holland and Barrat and I have seen results. Dont expect instant results because it can take up to 6 months and Ive been going to the gym for over a year and a half now and only starting to see the full results.

Well, nobody's ever heard of protein shakes making people fat, so I dunno where you came by that "fact". Anything in great excess will make people fat. Whether it be protein, carbs, or fat. The body can only handle so much and once it has reached that limit it gets stored [as adipose tissue aka fat]. On topic, brands are not really important, but rather the amount of protein, fat, calories, & carbs in the shake. Post-workout I like to have a solid 30-40 grams of protein mixed with some milk and maybe some fruit or peanut butter. You want WHEY PROTEIN as this kind is easily digested and absorbed. (This is coming from a former natural bodybuilder, personal trainer, and a minor in college education regarding the stuff)

I've never spoken to anyone who blames fat gains on protein shakes alone. Gaining fat is down to more than one factor, usually where a dietary imbalance pairs up with an imbalance in daily activity (or lack thereof).
As protein foods are so expensive, I rely a lot on cheap carbs, like 20p tins of own-brand ravioli etc. A lot of pasta and tuna...
Also natural. Not into the whole "assisted" thing.
