MMAMANIA:
“He’s not the best pound-for-pound fighter, not even close, but he’s one of the four or five best heavyweights. But we all have to thank him for getting rid of Tim Sylvia. He’d been stinking out the joint the last couple of years and Fedor did everyone a favor by beating him so easily and getting rid of him.”
UFC President Dana White has some harsh criticism for his former heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia, saying that Fedor Emelianenko did “everyone a favor” by throttling him in 36 seconds at Affliction: “Banned” last month. “The Maine-iac” was granted a release from his contract after losing to Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira for the interim division title at UFC 81: “Breaking Point” earlier this year. He has indicated that he would like to return to the promotion in the future; however, perhaps he will change his tune after these latest remarks.

Seriously, Dana White is a ing moron. "Not even close" to being the best P4P fighter in the world? Honest to god... This guy is just so egotistical that it just pisses me off to no end.

Dana White is the smartest ing idiot I've ever came across. How you can champion a sport into the mainstream almost single-handedly while still being a colossal jackass is just beyond me.

Fedor would beat the **** out of everyone on the UFC roster. Every single person. Hell, he's already beaten the UFC champion twice convincingly.

I honestly understand why dana isn;t claiming Fedor to be the best P4P fighter though...Think about it...How would it look if he admitted that the best fighter in the world is fighting for a rival company? In his mind he knows Fedors the best, but he can't admit it bcause Fedor doesnt fight for him. Thats just my opinion.

That's probably true, but the problem is that he should just shut his mouth about it. If he'd just shut his mouth about it, we'd all understand where he was coming from... But because he continues to shit-talk the best fighter in the world, his company probably will never sign him and he'll never see the gigantic buy-rate that would surely come along with the Couture/Fedor fight. Then, when Fedor wins that fight, White will be like, "Fedor might be in the top-3 heavyweights in the world. I'd take Heath Herring above him." Because Dana White is a ing idiot.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Couture beat Fedor when that fight eventually happens, and guys like Werdum aren't exactly losers, either. Hell, I wouldn't put it past Rampage or even Spider Silva. The fact of the matter is Fujita was a punch away from knocking Fedor out, and Fujita is a ing wrestler.

Even if Dana White thought Fedor was the best, he would never, ever say it publicly, simply because he's a fight promoter. Part of his job, for better or worse, is to convince the public that his fighters are the best in the world, and that his competition is second-rate. Sometimes he can do that with complete honesty and sometimes he'll come across as a liar, but he'll always err on the side of trumping up his own fighters.

Don't get ahead of yourself. I wouldn't be surprised to see Couture beat Fedor when that fight eventually happens Couture isn't on the UFC roster anymore. Why? Because Couture wants to fight the best fighters in the world... And guess what - they aren't in the UFC. and guys like Werdum aren't exactly losers, either. No, Werdum is very good... But he's going to get schooled (again) if he fights Noguiera. And Fedor destroys Noguiera 10/10 times. Hell, I wouldn't put it past Rampage or even Spider Silva. Let me put this kindly. There's no chance in ing hell that Anderson Silva would beat Fedor in a fight. Not a chance in hell. Seriously, zero. You can make a case for Silva being the #1 "P4P" fighter in the world, but if you legitimately think he would beat Fedor head-to-head, you're completely out of your mind. And Jackson would die, too. Come on now. The fact of the matter is Fujita was a punch away from knocking Fedor out, and Fujita is a ing wrestler. What happened to Fujita? Oh yeah, he got submitted in the first round. Fedor got rocked, quickly regained his composure, and submitted him like he does to EVERYONE else.

It is sad because it is obvious that everyone is interested in making the UFC a HUGE PPV buyrate with a Fedor vs. Couture match except for DANA F***ING WHITE. Randy Couture was just on the Adam Carolla show saying that he would actually be interested in still doing it in the UFC...even after all the B.S. and the stuff Dana has had to say.
We will never see this match. We will never see Fedor in the UFC and it is a damn shame. But hopefully this affliction thing can really build up to be a real threat to the UFC because they have some damn good fighters. Get Frank Shamrock and that is all they need really...

About the bes P4P fighter. I think that it is a very close race between BJ Penn, Anderson Silva, & Fedor. But Dana saying he is nowhere near the best is ridiclous.

Sylvia was one of the most boring heavyweights in the UFC, and watching Couture put that lumbering sack of embarrassment on the mat was one of the greatest things I have ever seen on a PPV. I agree with PdW2kX. Dana White is hilarious, though usually unintentionally.

that's quite the statement on white's part, to say that of a former employee let alone champion. if he'd been 'stinking out the joint', why did the great dana white have him employed?
he's definetly two-faced, his opinion changes with circumstance.

Dana does make me smile, however I don't get why people are so surprised. Fedor doesn't work for UFC, so obviously Dana won't be hyping him up. Do you remember Vince standing up & proclaiming a top wrestler from WCW as being the best in the business?
However people here saying that Rampage & Anderson would beat Fedor is taking it too far. Rampage just got beaten by Forrest & Anderson is great at 185 & also 205 but can't see that carrying up any further. Yeah Fedor got rocked by a big punch by a wrestler. So what? He recovered & destroyed Fujita. Right now Fedor is the BEST Heavyweight walking the planet, end of discussion.
Fedor has beaten Nog three times, Randy doesn't seem to want the fight now, after watching Sylvia get destroyed he suddenly starts mentioning he might open discussions with the UFC after all & priced himself well out of the market.

dana always says stupid things, he is trying to set a world record for how deep he can put his foot in his mouth. nonetheless, i was there for the Fedor - Sylvia fight and I have never seen anyone hit that hard in my life, u can see some photos of it on my site, it was hard to take pics of it since i was too in awe of his abilities. sylvia was humbled as much as he could be after the fight tho, and he earned my respect despite all of his talk before that fight.

Do you remember Vince standing up & proclaiming a top wrestler from WCW as being the best in the business? I understand that, but the obvious differences are that wrestling is fake while MMA is real... But either way, I never remember Vince McMahon proclaiming that a top (talent) WCW wrestler "isn't even close" to being one of the best in the world. It'd be more like the Spanish championship basketball head coach saying something like, "The US team isn't even close to being the best." Because it's just stupid.

I think Dana White is an absolute douchebag, but that opinion aside, I'm ok with him crapping on Tim Sylvia. I've hated that man for the longest time, and I'm glad to know he's not a key player anymore in what's suppose to be the best breeding ground for MMA.
