The opening WFWF video plays, showing several WFWF superstars doing their things. Word. Also, seeing as how this is the first time I’m handling it the official Loaded theme is “Rise to Glory” by DJ Quik. Anywhoo, the video plays, the camera goes to ringside, pyro goes off, the fans are happy, and we go to Matthew Werner and Matt Steel sitting at the announce booth.
Matthew Werner: Hello and I’m welcome to Loaded! I am of course joined by my colleague Matt Steel -
Matt Steel: ‘Ello.
Matthew Werner: And what a show we have! In the main event it’s EBR & Calvin Lee versus High Horror & David Williams, and considering the circumstances I have a hard time calling them “Chemical Reaction.”
Matt Steel: And on the opposite, after outing EBR last week as a finger quotes “Canadian”, Thunder will address the fans. That should be a gem.
Matthew Werner: Let’s get started.
“Blood Hunger Doctrine" by Dimmu Borgir” plays as Gabriel Chasm walks out like a man on a mission.
Matthew Werner: This is the debut match for Gabriel Chasm, who was first saw last week taking a particularly interest in that Jake Slash promo.
Matt Steel: At least we hope it’s his debut match. Otherwise this is incredibly awkward.
Matthew Werner: Indeed.
The lights go dull and Time is Imperfect by AFI begins to play. Ikol appears in the entrance; apathy etched into his face. He methodically, step by step, makes his way to and into the ring. The lights regain brilliance and Ikol waits patiently.
Matthew Werner: Devianté Ikol, which is going to be incredibly hard for this match writer to write because he doesn’t know how to get that funny “e” without copying and pasting and thus he’ll just be referred to as D. Ikol, is looking to carry on the momentum he got when he defeated Thug last week.
Both men stand in the ring.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
And we’re off. D. Ikol is the first to go on the offense, grabbing Chasm in a headlock. As he squeezes the hold Chasm begins to viciously forearm his opponent in the kidneys, causing him to break the hold while being in pain. D. Ikol falls to one knee as Chaem runs into the ring ropes, rebounding with a vicious boot to the face.
Matthew Werner: Gabriel Chasm is looking great here in the early goings.
Matt Steel: Meanwhile D. Ikol is looking like someone who didn’t post a RP and hasn’t logged in for like a month, causing this match writer and owner to presume he might not ever be coming back.
Matthew Werner: Yeah, so any squash match that might happen isn’t because of a punishment or general dislike, but just because it’d be easier to write.
Matt Steel: Especially when results are two weeks late.
EBR: Yeah, we’re cool Devianté Ikol.
Matt Steel: He even copied and pasted that for you.
Chasm mounts Ikol and begins to maul him with a flurry of right hands to the face. The referee attempts to break it up, to which Chasm ignores him. He begins his count and on the count of four Chasm stops, turning Ikol onto his stomach before grabbing him by the neck and applying a rear naked choke.
Matthew Werner: Gabriel Chasm is looks like a rabid dog right here.
Matt Steel: Though dogs don’t choke other people.
Matthew Werner: Right. Gabriel Chasm looks like Michael Vick disciplining one of his dogs.
As the hold is applied for several moments the referee calls for the ball, D. Ikol considered unconscious and unfit to continue the bout.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
The referee pulls Chasm off of the comatose D. Ikol.
Matthew Werner: Talk about making an impression. Chasm looked like he’d rather fight then actually wrestle.
Matt Steel: Some wrestlers feel like wrestling is just an extension off of fighting, and that they really don’t need to train how to wrestle.
Matthew Werner: What wrestlers feel that way?
Matt Steel: Not relevant.
Gabriel Chasm exits the ring and walks to the back, victorious as his theme plays.
We fade out from the Live Loaded feed to another announcement from Jake Slash. Unlike before, we are presented with a collage of footage showing Jake Slash training for his return.
I've spent weeks in the gym learning styles of mixed martial arts, that is right being a man with gloves strapped on to fight off another challenger in sparring. This is where the real sh*t was, some guys here were worse than what I could have fought in the WFWF. Mainly because I was not being hit with a barbed wire whip across the back, and bleeding out from open wounds; but these people where real fighters. They all where normal men, with normal life’s, who could care less about ones well being.
We see Slash sparring with another man, taped fists and protective headgear worn by both.
Our fights here were bare fists, and it was a surprise in my first real one, when I was slammed down on the mat and beat in the face repeatedly until my nose dripped blood. One man was there for me, one man was there to help me become a better fighter, his name was Bruce. He taught me my way around the ring, and was not one to play around with the students, everyday he made comments of how this is the real sh*t, not a play land. I was beat in the face, kicked in the nuts, and left to lay alone inside the center of the ring.
We see Jake Slash getting slammed on the mat, forced to protect himself with his guard. This fades to Slash having to defend a triangle choke submission, until finally being choked out.
It has always been something in Japan that was used to be an art of using a blade on a challengers forehead to show his death, I found out why. He bashed my forehead in until I poured out blood from the wound and it ran down my face. One of the most humiliating things is to bleed and the blood run down into the eyes, for two reasons. One was because it burnt like hell, two because I was seeing my own death.
We fade to Slash sitting in a corner, blood streaming from his forehead as he breathes heavily.
I had never known it before in my life, but found it out from Bruce, he had a kid and a beautiful wife. Both of them came by the gym at times and watched me and him spar, and he seemed to have had it made. He then explained to me to not judge him by that, as he had everything that could be hell in his life. A dead girlfriend in his teen years who committed suicide, an abusive father, and several near death experiences.
We now see Slash sparring with the same man as before. This time, however, Slash is able to duck under a left hook then leaps up with a vicious knee right to the jaw of his opponent, sending him to the canvas. Slash follows through, landing several shots on his adversary as he lay prone on the ground until several of the other men in the gym rush to pull him off.
Not the usual thing to discuss over a few ham sandwiches inside a gym ring, but he seemed to know his sh*t. He at first told me just to try to take him down, which was when he had me flat on my back begging for mercy, then taught me all I needed to know. Punches, kicks, holds, and tosses all to fill my new move set up, and to help me when I made my return. The last fight was where I showed him all I knew, and it ended with me nailing a fast jump knee to the face, and going down on top of him, and beating his face in as he had done mine.
This brings us to Jake Slash standing triumphantly in the middle of the ring, blood pouring from his forehead and staining his taping.
After that I had graduated, blood stained tape on my hands, and a few scrapes on my face, I was ready to come back. I realized that the true weapon lies not in barbed-wire, canes, chairs, or any of that, but in the hand that wields it.
His final words echo out as we fade to black.
