I was just wondering if theres is any truth to this or if someone could help me with a pic or vid or anything, my dad who before he passed away told me one time that the original Legion of Doom or L.O.D was Hawk,Animal,Paul Ellering,Rick Rude, and King Kong Bundy. now I'm now trying to say this is a fact i was j/w if someone could shed some light on this subject for me, Ive never seen a pic or anything of them together but growing up i took my dads word about wrestling as the gospel, (please no dad bashing if its not true) Thanks everyone

Georgia Championship Wrestling
In the early 1980s, in NWA's Georgia Championship Wrestling, Paul Ellering introduced a stable called "The Legion of Doom" that consisted of the Road Warriors, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, The Spoiler, Matt Borne, King Kong Bundy, Arn Anderson, The Iron Sheik and the original Sheik. Animal had briefly competed as the Road Warrior before Ellering paired him up with fellow Chicagoan Hawk to form the Road Warriors. The stable was short lived and the name "Legion of Doom" soon referred only to the Road Warriors and Ellering with either name used interchangeably through out their career

My understanding of it was that it was RW's, Jake, & the Spoiler. They tried to introduce Bundy but they did a worked-shoot calling Bundy fat and not an athlete and it turned Bundy face. Get the Jake DVD and it tells the story.

I've seen the Road Warrior's DVD and have known about this, but I just call Hawk and Animal Legion Of Doom instead.

A lot of people never realized but Hawk and Animal were only called the Legion of Doom as a tag team during their WWF career. They were the Road Warriors everywhere else.

Well, true... they were officially called The Road Warriors. But they did refer to themselves as The Legion of Doom as a sort of alternate nickname in the AWA, NWA, etc. One of the many Road Warriors promos that is burned into my memory is from the AWA, right after the famous match where the Warriors incited a near-riot by tangling Curt Hennig's neck in the ring ropes and beating him bloody with a chair. Ellering started the interview by saying, in a very evil tone, "It's not nice to fool with the Legion of Doom!"

They were only called the Legion of Doom in the WWF, because Vince felt using the name "Road Warriors" people would get confused with the Ultimate Warrior. Also Kerry Von Erich who was billed as "The Modern-Day Warrior" also had to drop his moniker when he came to the WWF and became Texas Tornado for the same reason.

Yeah thats true, funnily enough it was The Warriors vs The Perfect Team, looks like Vince was having a bit of tongue in cheek fun.

yeah I remember reading that about Vince.he also insisted on the brighter color scheme for the Shoulderpads.
they had to change from Black shoulderpads wth silver spikes and chains to the red shoulderpads.
Vince remarked they had to be brightened up considerably to be his main "face" team
