The reason I named the thread this is because. The UFC have come to terms with the return of Randy Couture. But what people do not know is why? Well I know why.
Randy has 3 fights left with his UFC contract. And from the people I have talked to it is going to break down like this.
Fight one:
Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar
Fight two:
Winner of Couture/Lesnar vs. winner of Nog/Mir: to unify titles.
Fight three:
weither Couture is champion or not vs. Fedor
UFC is doing Couture a favor by giving him what he wants as long as Couture gives them what they want. Which is big payday fights.
As of now the plan is to have the fight next summer.
After the 3rd and final fight Randy will retire.

I think it was a little "give & take" with both UFC and Randy. Randy isn't getting any younger and he does have three matches on his contract, it just seems to make sense for all parties involved.

There's still a gigantic question mark in all of this, and that's Fedor's contract demands vs. UFC's company interests.
Even if the UFC was willing to sign Fedor to a 1-fight deal, there is still the possibility of UFC being embarrassed if Fedor wins, especially if Couture is the UFC champ, gets beaten, and Fedor takes the bragging rights to another company (if any are still around by then, and can afford Fedor's salary).
