So I made a topic like this in the fed forum and I guess I'll make it in here too to discuss TNA in particular.
It was way back when NWA-TNA was on every Wed for $9.95 for a 2 hour show.
Back then they had their TNA Xplosion show which I believe is no longer going on. The ratings for those shows were never discussed.
Then they had some exposure as a 1 hour show on Fox Sports Net and was heavily marketed alongside The Best Damn Sports Show Period. But still the ratings weren't discussed.
Then... it came. TNA on Spike TV for 1 hour. The ratings were pretty much between 0.6-0.9
Then they moved up to two hours and the ratings have always been between 0.8 and the highest 1.2 but mostly either 0.9-1.0 which always stood whether it was a holiday or a three day weekend, or anything else.
So it pretty much says this... that pretty much TNA has roughly 1.0 fans and those are the die-hards which is great.
Sadly enough their PPV buy rates are just abysmal which is sad for a wrestling promotion with 2 hours of tv on national television. But it also says this. That they haven't been able to do anything to gain new fans really.
At the same time... look at the time we live in. DVR and Tivo are great and they are NOT counted in the ratings count so you never truly know how many ppl actually do watch outside those that take the time to sit their butts down on thurs night.
Also... the ratings haven't dropped like the feds. During the summer months tv raings are always down everywhere on tv.
The fact that the ratings haven't dropped a lot is a good sign and another sign that the 1.0 fans are die hards.
Summer + DVR + Tivo = low ratings. Period.
