Coach.: A new entry into the history books will be made here tonight as we will crown a new World Heavyweight Champion at Clash of the Champions! Hello once again everyone, I am Jonathan Coachman along with the icon Rowdy Roddy Piper here at ringside. We are sold out here at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
Piper: I am amped up and ready to go Coach. It’s great to be here and I look forward to seeing who walks out as the World Champion!
Coach: Well Hot Rod tonight in that huge main event it will be Kurt Angle one-on-one with Chris Jericho to determine the World Champion and we have former Champion Bruno Sammartino acting as the special guest referee for that contest. Right now however we are kicking things off with a match added after Raw went off the air Monday Night. It will be a return match from Raw as Mr. Kennedy takes on Matt Hardy.
Piper: I enjoyed the competition between these two Raw and look forward to seeing them go at it again right here.
Coach: We head down to our ring announcer Lilian Garcia.
MATT HARDY VS. MR. KENNEDY
Hardy comes out first followed by Kennedy. Footage is shown of the finish to the match on Raw and Kennedy doesn’t like Lilian’s introduction, so he does his own. As Kennedy finishes his self-introduction, Hardy nails him and starts punching away. Hardy sends Kennedy in and hip-locks him over. Hardy then clotheslines Kennedy to the outside.

Hardy pounds on the neck of Kennedy and then applies the side headlock. Cameras pan out to the ringside area and shows some familiar faces sitting in those seats.
Piper: Coach it looks we have some recognizable fans sitting at ringside for the Clash here tonight.
Coach: Indeed we do Hot Rod. I see the former voice of “Extreme” Joey Styles and long time “Extreme” competitor Sabu sitting with him. Not too mention if you look a few seats down that is none other than former WWE Superstar and UFC great Ken Shamrock.
Kennedy shoves Hardy off to the ropes. Hardy knocks Kennedy down and goes to the ropes again. Kennedy ducks down, but Hardy comes back with a clothesline. Kennedy strikes Hardy with forearm shots into the corner. Kennedy whips Hardy across, but Matt gets a foot up. Hardy tries for the Side Effect, but Kennedy blocks it and goes for the Mic. Check, but Hardy blocks and elbows Kennedy and hooks him for an inside cradle and gets a near fall.
Piper: These two seem to be building an intense rivalry following Kennedy’s win over Shannon Moore a couple weeks back and then his win over Matt Hardy two days ago. Hardy does not want this to be a repeat from Monday Night.
Hardy pounds on Kennedy and chops him. He sends him in, but Kennedy reverses. Hardy ducks coming back and then kicks Kennedy and delivers a neck breaker for a near fall. Matt scoops up Kennedy and slams him down. Hardy gets on the middle rope and drops the leg, but Kennedy rolls out of the way. Kennedy gets up quickly and clotheslines Hardy. Kennedy delivers a back breaker. He follows with a second one and then power bombs Hardy into the turnbuckle. Kennedy then connects with a straight kick to the face sending Hardy through the ropes to the floor.
Coach: A couple of devastating moves by Kennedy have really put him in control here. Mr. Kennedy is quickly becoming a major player here in the WWE.

Matt Hardy whips Kennedy into the corner. Hardy follows in, but Kennedy moves. Hardy puts on the breaks. Kennedy charges in, but Hardy moves and Kennedy gets posted. Hardy hit’s the Side Effect and gets a near fall. Hardy delivers the Twist of Fate. Hardy drops down on top of Kennedy. The referee counts, but Kennedy gets a foot on the rope.
Coach: Wow was that ever close. I thought for sure Hardy had the victory.
Hardy gets set for another Twist of Fate, but Kennedy spins him around and roll shim up and hooks a hand full of tights and the referee’s hand comes down for a three count.
Piper: And just like that Mr. Kennedy has done it yet again.
Coach: Mr. Kennedy secures a second victory over Matt Hardy thanks to a hand full of tights, but regardless Kennedy is the winner.
Kennedy gets on the mic and announces himself as the winner. Jeff Hardy comes down to the ring to check on his brother and Kennedy walks away.
Coach: A tremendous match to kick things off here at the Clash of Champions. Still to come the Cruiserweight Title will be on the line when Paul London defends against Gregory Helms. Right now though we send you to our colleague Mean Gene Okerlund.
Gene: Joining me at this time is none other than the sixteen time World Heavyweight Champion “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair.
Flair: Mean “wooooooooo” Gene! It’s great to be back at Clash of the Champions. I’m having a great time here tonight and will be watching that World Title match with great focus.
Gene: Obviously Ric Flair you have some unfinished business with Kurt Angle, but momentarily your fellow Horsemen Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson will be challenging for the World Tag Team Titles against Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas.
Flair: It’s beyond unfinished business between myself and Angle. Angle stepped over the line and while it has become a personal issue, to me it always comes back to what it means to be the man. Remember Gene I have walked that aisle countless times and there will come a time and a place where I step into the ring with Kurt Angle. That I can guarantee. Whether or not it is for the World Title remains to be seen. What I do know is that whoever walks out of the Clash with the gold is a target for the Nature Boy. As for Tully and Arn. I see gold in their future. Woooooooooooooo!
Coach: The World Tag Team Titles are up for grabs next!

Piper: My hat goes off to Paul London, but you do have to wonder if that split second that Kendrick was out here may have saved Paul London from being defeated.
Coach: Well Hot Rod that makes it fifty-fifty here tonight for title changes here tonight and we know for a fact we will crown a new World Heavyweight Champion later here tonight. However when we return there are no titles at stake, just revenge on the mind as Stone Cold Steve Austin goes one-on-one with John Bradshaw Layfield in a Street Fight. It’s going to be a war and it’s going to be next!
“On Sunday January 25th, World Wrestling Entertainment proudly presents the annual tradition the art of elimination is key and holding your ground will take you to the main event at WrestleMania. Coach: London has done it. Paul London retains the Cruiserweight Title after a very evenly matched contest against Gregory Helms. It could have gone either way, but London is still the Cruiserweight Champion.

Gene Okerlund is with JBL.
Gene: JBL, you are just moments away from stepping into the ring with Stone Cold Steve Austin in a Street Fight. Aren’t you a little concerned for your well being after you tried to end Austin’s career?
JBL: Gene, me worried? I think not. The only thing anyone should be worried about is the well being of Austin after I get through with him here tonight. I put him out once and I will do it again. This time it will be for good. Stone Cold tonight it’s lights out on 3:!6.
