I loved this line when it was first revealed. The Hasbro WWF figures were my first toys and I made it a mission to collect the line MOC. It lasted for the first five series because the quality of both the names and the figures started to decline severely. I realized that as much as I loved the line, I in fact did not care about having Hasbro style versions of Sami Zayn or Finn Balor or Seth Rollins or the majority of the current stars, to be frank. I loved a lot of the legends figures they put out. NWA Flair was great, Sheik and JYD were amazing. Goldust was tremendous. But they weren't all perfect. Shawn sucked, Angle sucked, Diesel sucked (more on this in a minute), Series 9 Savage was LAZY. Notice that all of those guys listed were in the later series. It's clear they stopped caring about the quality when last year came around. The lead up to series 10 was strange because we heard NOTHING about a new wave, whereas with all the previous ones we basically knew what was coming. I knew some were getting worried about the line getting tabled and I honestly was 100% at peace with the line being done the second I saw that Diesel. That head sculpt is horrendous and it looks like Scott Norton suffering from a severe case of UFC Jakks Big Head Syndrome. As I stated, JYD was fantastic but then you look at the Elias and Matt Hardy figures and it's just like...who is this line even for? Do kids actually want these? Do older collectors actually care about having an Elias in this style? I feel like had they tried to do the line where the first series was modern stars with two legends being swapped in on case refreshes and then just continued doing legends and only making exceptions for the big name current stars, things might have been better off. We didn't need two Kevin Owens. We didn't need that Sami Zayn or that half assed Sheamus. We didn't need series 9 to be three guys with ostensibly the same action feature. For every good thing about this line, there was an equal amount of stuff that felt half assed or like they weren't listening. If the line does come back, it has to be legends centric. It has to feature more than just the clothesline and the jumper and the double arm wham action. Anything else is going to send it plunging back down to where the line ended up. Really, they should have used the Basic/Elite heads. Mattel tried for that Hasbro "cartoony" look, but most looked bad. Hasbros had a perfect blend of realism vs cartoony. But I've done simple head swaps that made the worst of that line become the best.

When I first laid my eyes on that Retro Goldberg back in 2017, it was the first *sigh* I had with that line. Toothless grandpa.

Dude, honestly I'd use a Randy Savage head and put a Bob Orton hat on it. I've thought about it too lol Thanks for the reply mate. Yeah I’ve been thinking about this for a while & funnily enough was looking at some Macho King Mattel heads yesterday! I’ve also got a spare A.J. Styles retro head so was wondering about sculpting a bit of hair onto the front of that. But always prefer using parts that need as minimal work as possible! For instance, I’ve also got a fairly battered (or loved!) hasbro Hogan #4 so was thinking of just doing a head swap with another hasbro head as I’d only need to do minimal painting. And so was thinking either the macho with the hat head (remove the hat & sculpt hair) or even a Bushwhacker Luke head with sculpted hair. I just end up thinking myself into doing nothing! So have you got much planned? Haven’t seen many updates of yours recently...and always enjoy seeing them. I think the Styles Retro has too much of a boyish look to the face. Not rugged enough. I've done several lately. Currently in progress are - Kurt Angle 2004/05 - Crash Holly - Hardcore Holly - Albert - Test - Red Rooster - Bob Backlund Heres some of my most recent completed figures...

What is '96 Jake going for? Jake and Steamboat go for about $100 (each) and Austin goes for a little less. Damn. Unless you're a hardcore MOC collector, that Austin isnt all that unique to the others. No kneebraces and a '96 vest? Nah.

About 4 years ago before I knew much about customizing I used either gloss paint, or a gloss sealant and now a few of the figures are sticky. What's a safe but sure method of fixing this problem? Thanks in advance.

Big John Studd "American Made" Hulk Hogan That Big John Studd is great man! Is that the Mattel head? Don’t remember the scan looking that good; but looks just like him. Thanks brother! Yeah, I think that BJS is from the Heenan Family set that included Heenan, Perfect, and.. Andre maybe? But it's from there, and definitely a good scan!

If you look at most of their lines, Mattel seems to like high details and sophistication. It's almost like when you put out figures that look good for the 1990's, it's a bastard child. Mattel likes to tout "HIGHLY DETAILS FX" and crap.
Am I explaining myself alright?
