Two different Diesel heads?! Yep. And that's what I said to myself, too lol. But if you put two of the Diesel Mannix figures side by side, you could see that they are different.  This one is the more common Mannix that I tend to see floating around on ebay.  This is the Mannix that I bought to make my custom. I thought this version looked WAY more like a younger Nash. If there is truth to them using unused Hasbro head scans, then I'd say this is the one. |

Yes you are. 😄 IMO that head screams Disquo Inferno. John Cenas head is a very nice match. All the possibilities with mix and matching with the Basic line gives the Retros so much potential. Really enjoy all these customs! Haha. I could see Disco. I'm going to try the experiment and give him the makeover. Hope I don't anger all the Mason Ryan fans if I ruin the head lol |

Damn...that Diesel is sick man 👍🏻 Thanks! Believe it or not, there's two different Mannix Diesel heads used on those figures. This one resembles Nash more IMO, so I grabbed it off ebay. Opening the Shango torso for the head swap was a thing of nightmare, though. Those Hasbros were made to last lol |

Not a Retro, but this is a Hasbro Diesel I did last summer using the same puncher action  Well done! I especially like the "DIESEL" on the chest. What paints are you usong for your customs? Looks a little like Revell. You should invest in a set of Tamiya/Gamesworkshop/Vallerjo. The materials you are using do not match your talent. Sorry, I am just honest. 👍🏻 No offence taken! And thanks for the compliment. I'd have to check the paint brands when I get home, but they are the $1.79 ones found at Hobby Lobby and Michaels. I'll definitely try out those brands that you recommend. I'm looking for a good brown to use for skin tone needed to turn a white guy black..I have Ahmed Johnson and Farooq heads sitting at home right now. Any recommendations? |

And I'm toying with the idea of modifying this Mason Ryan head to make a Dino Bravo custom in the future. I'd remove the light beard, lightly shave the tip of the nose to make it point upward less, take off a slight bit of the hair in the back so it isn't as long there, thicker eye brows and a hair repaint. I see potential there. Am I the only one that sees a possible Dino here?  |

Ambrose upper body is cast in white with painted on skin. Also the shirt is not sculpted but just painted (similar to Hasbro Rick Steiner). I'd give the whole body a repaint (first add skin, than paint on shirt). However if I were you, I would wait for an appropriate body. Pants would be great for Diesel, but I'd prefer the Roman Reigns action feature. Barbarian looks fantastic. Would love to add one to my collection aswell... especially the fabric is excellent. Only downside are those elbowpads. I'd rather paint them brown. Might not be accurate, anyway... Not a Retro, but this is a Hasbro Diesel I did last summer using the same puncher action |

I haven't even seen series 2 yet let alone series 3. This. Not only that, but once the last remaining Series 1 tumbleweeds were cleared out, my local Wal-Mart's replaced the peg stickers altogether. Now, we don't even have a Retro section. Haven't seen squat at any other stores, either. |

Here's the Retros I picked for RVD and Billy Gunn. I have several customs to start on, and I still have to go online to do some decal attire/tattoo searching for guys. Hoping to get to these soon. Also wish we had a good small guy Retro for guys like the Hardyz and X-Pac..  |

After seeing that NWO Savage, I'm like 99% sure this series is not for fans of the original Hasbro line. Started out promising, but they're just making new tossers and legends out of the Hasbro era. No Diesel, no Tugboat, no Backlund, no Lawler. Not even a Surfer Sting ffs. I doubt I'll continue to collect, and I'll probably stick the ones I bought on ebay (bar the purple Taker). I'm trying to rectify the Backlund dilemma on my own, PLEBIANS! Light sand and a paint/gloss seal and we're good. :-) |

I was exploring possibly undercoat primer then an acrylic spray. I am NOT a fan of brushing skin tones. I do it when I have to but I feel like once you can see brushed skin, it stops being a figure and becomes an art project. I have a Jakks head of Ahmed Johnson and I want to use the Retro Rock body for him. I've been online scouting glossy brown acrylics. And I'm with ya on the Diesel. The Reigns moveset would be ideal. I might still try it though, and revise it. Haven't decided yet. I have the Elite Diesel and 2011 Nash heads sitting at home. |

Here's my finished Barbarian. I wanted to add fabric to his attire. Kind of a nod to the Hasbro Berzerker w/ fabric cloak.  Big fan of all your work, but this Barbarian I LOVE! Thanks for the compliment! It's awesome feedback like this that motivates me to customize as a fellow fan. I've learned that many of these Jakks heads work great. I just bought a Bob Backlund Classic Superstars btw, so I'm hoping to keep building that Hasbro to Retro bridge with the New Gen guys. I also bought the new Elite Diesel (head only). I'm thinking Ambrose, but I'm trying to figure out the issue with both of those hands being taped/gloved and the singlet/shirt covering a bit too much of the chest. The pants work perfect though. I just don't want to paint skin tones on these. They don't look right. |
