Like the concept could work if the show was centered around showcasing the wrestling. If we had 7 solid matches and one or two NXT showcases and they were given the proper time (not just throwing Orton & Sheamus out there for 25 minutes to kill time) people would be praising it.
Expecting Cena/Rollins (which, if they did so much to add value and meaning to the US Title why is it not being defended?), Orton/Sheamus II, 'Taker/Lesnar, Reigns&Ambrose/Wyatts, Hoss Bella keeping her title yet again being average and Cesaro/Owens (a possibility) being the only above-average match, coupled with a long-winded promo that goes nowhere and a musical guest that kills time and momentum from the wrestling devalues the idea of a four-hour Summerslam.

It seems really dumb as a pre-order exclusive (like I don't think the prospect of wrestling as the Terminator is gonna bring about too too many pre-orders) but that trailer was pretty cool. If there's any non-WWE characters I'm glad it's Terminator given the close working relationship between Arnold and the WWE.

Joker your new red profile reminds me of Mountain Dew Code Red.
But thanks for letting me host my 'Mania review here a pair of years ago, being a jam-up mod and for somehow keeping your sanity on the main WWE board.

I hope: matches are given more time and there are more unique match-ups, ultimately giving us a show filled to the brim with exciting competition
I expect: something shitty with musical artist/in-ring thing with no real rhyme or reason/6 average-or-so matches and one real good one

Couldn't decide on five so I did ten
1. Ziggler on Del Rio 2. Rollins on Brock 3. Edge on Cena 4. CM Punk on Edge 5. Miz on Orton 6. CM Punk on Hardy 7. RVD on Cena 8. Edge on Undertaker 9. Orton on Bryan 10. Jack Swagger on Jericho (woulda been higher if they didn't sh*t on him his entire reign)

Over the Limit preview is up. Same three-post deal as last time.
Not expecting replies due to the nature of the format but I'll be glad to get comments on this or Extreme Rules still. I'd also be willing to answer any/all questions/comments/concerns with booking/format/etc. via PM.
I'll be dishing out replies sporadically throughout the week. Shooting for Over the Limit to be up before July ends.

The Inside Scoop: May 22nd, 2010
Officials have nothing but praise for Daniel Bryan and his early exit in NXT was to establish him in a bigger picture. The obvious choice for Bryan to feud with on the main roster is his former NXT pro, The Miz. Officials also are up in the air as to who will win the first season. There has been talk that all eight members will eventually appear on the main roster in some capacity. Also worth noting that officials have the cast set for NXT season two, which is slated to begin the week after season one ends.
Mark Henry has suffered a shoulder injury that will keep him out of the ring through the summer. Henry has had talks of retirement but agrees with management in saying he has a few years left before he lets go. The plan is to put Henry on the house show circuit upon his return until he can be put in a viable storyline.
There has been discussion among WWE’s higher ups about bringing back King of the Ring. One source says bringing the tournament to a 3-hour episode of Raw is the plan, while another reports that the more favorable scenario is the tournament held on television while the finals are on Pay-Per-View. A full-on King of the Ring PPV reboot has been discussed but is unlikely, both sources agreed.
With the brand split null and void, the concept for Bragging Rights has been scrapped. Officials are trying to narrow their choices down before tickets go on sale over the summer. Names being tossed around at this time include Cyber Sunday, No Mercy, Vengeance, Battleground, and One Night Only.
The Miz declaring his title his number one priority and Kofi Kingston declaring himself a fighting champion are the first steps in an attempt to garner attention and prestige back to the United States and Intercontinental titles. WWE wants to set the notion that both titles are meant for “hard working” champions. Expectations are both titles will be defended more frequently on TV and PPV and will be given more time.

Grudge Match John Morrison vs. Ted DiBiase | Over the Limit || May 23, 2010
Joe Louis Arena || Detroit, Michigan | The High-Octane Stage John F. Kennedy once said, “Change is the law of life. Those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.” Change in the WWE is only provoked by being on top. It takes a combination of passion, fury and determination to be the best to change wrestling. John Cena has lived off these values and looks to use them to reclaim his WWE Championship. Former champion Chris Jericho vies to fend off both current champion Edge and reckless challenger Randy Orton. The United States and Intercontinental titles can change hands as both champions have their works cut out for them in intriguing match types. The brash Sheamus looks to establish himself as the changing force of the new generation as he squares off with the old school giant, Big Show. To win, they must fight. They must compete beyond levels comparable and come out on top in the face of all adversity. As wrestlers prepare for battle, they will keep in mind the prospect of change and clash to launch the company into their own vision at Over the Limit! |

RINGSIDE: The Road to Over the Limit //////////////
//////////////////////// reported by Dante Vocaturo | Extreme Rules took the toll on fifteen competitors; some triumphed in the face of adversity for their cause, while others fell to the vices of the brutality of the event. In the WWE Championship match, both champion Batista and challenger John Cena fell at the conclusion of the bout. While Batista was victorious, he needed a pair of officials to carry him out. The next night on Raw, the champion came out more focused than ever. “John, you still couldn’t beat me. But I couldn’t finish you off. We both failed.” The two met face-to-face in the ring and agreed on one thing—the other was going to fail once again at Over the Limit. They had a Beat the Clock challenge to determine the stipulation on May 10th, which Batista won. He chose the I Quit match, citing his reasoning to be “You have never quit in your career. I know that. When I make you quit [at Over the Limit], I will have destroyed you.”
Edge may have earned the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules, but he still has to deal with a pair of challengers. Chris Jericho invoked his rematch clause on April 26th, but was unsuccessful amid interference from Randy Orton while the referee was down. Jericho continually blamed Orton for losing the championship and being unable to regain it. Orton believed he was only one step away—one RKO away—from winning the title and felt he deserved another title shot. The champion Edge, believing that no matter the number of challengers, he will step up and do whatever it takes to keep the title, accepted both challengers. On the May 17th episode, both Jericho and Edge were on the receiving end of RKOs following each of their matches.
New Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston declared himself to be a fighting champion, responding to three challenges for his belt over the course of four weeks. Surprisingly, none came from the man he beat for the title, Drew McIntyre. McIntyre was approached by Vince McMahon at Extreme Rules and was told to either vie in reclaiming the Intercontinental strap or prepare to cash in his Money in the Bank contract. He chose the latter, refusing to wrestle Kingston and instead deeming himself a top tier talent. Kingston successfully defended his title against MVP, Dolph Ziggler, and Cody Rhodes. All three challengers, through the course of the weeks, requested one more match against Kingston for the belt. Eventually, GM Bret Hart gave in and granted them all a rematch, in the form of a fatal 4-way bout at Over the Limit.
The Straight Edge Society grew in numbers, and they still presented a threat to Rey Mysterio. CM Punk, having christened his new ally as former MNM member Joseph Mercury, still yearned for Mysterio to pledge his allegiance to the Straight Edge Society, and Rey fought to shave CM Punk’s head. Using mind games, Punk urged Mysterio to unmask by displaying a photo of Mysterio unmasked in WCW on the titantron. While the addition of Joseph Mercury to the apostles of Punk, Luke Gallows and Serena, has added a new obstacle for Mysterio to overcome, the masked luchador is determined to rid Punk of his precious hair.
Fresh off demolishing Triple H at Extreme Rules, Sheamus declared himself the “biggest thing” in the company. This drew the ire of the man who believed he was the biggest thing in the WWE, Big Show. Sheamus argued that Big Show has not had a six-month period as destructive or as impactful as Sheamus had and that the giant was a shell of his former self. Big Show responded by threatening the knockout punch, which sent Sheamus running. Throughout the weeks leading to Over the Limit, the massive fist of Big Show was used as a taunt, haunting Sheamus and keeping the “Celtic Warrior” on his toes.
United States Champion The Miz returned to competition, declaring his United States Championship his number one priority; in his first match back, lost to the upstart Evan Bourne. Irate, he demanded a rematch on SmackDown, which he won in nefarious means—via a roll up after Bourne hit an exposed turnbuckle. Bourne felt he deserved a championship match because he defeated the champion, while Miz argued that if he already beat Bourne once, he shouldn’t have to fight him again. As a compromise, it was announced The Miz will defend the United States Championship against Evan Bourne in a two-out-of-three falls match. On the May 14th SmackDown, Bourne was found beat up in the locker room. During Miz’s match against Kofi Kingston later that night, Bourne retaliated, costing Miz the match.
Cody Rhodes had a pay-per-view victory following Legacy’s collapse at Wrestlemania; now it became time for Ted DiBiase to do the same. The son of the “Million Dollar Man” explained his plan: “I am determined to prove to the world that I have what it takes to be successful.” He set his sights on John Morrison, citing “The Shaman of Sexy’s” flashy persona and carefree attitude a “disposition that my father would have chewed up and spit out in his time.” Sporting a new theme and a more focused attitude, DiBiase used the weeks leading up to Over the Limit to showcase his skills and prepare himself for an old-school grudge match with Morrison.
NXT has finally entered the elimination stage, but not without controversy. The May 4th show saw Skip Sheffield win an immunity battle royal to avoid the first wave of elimination. The next week, three competitors were eliminated. Michael Tarver and Darren Young finished 8th and 7th, respectively, but Sheffield was ranked sixth. He earned immunity, however, and thus the fifth-ranked Daniel Bryan was booted from the competition as well. He was asked to speak to the crowd following his elimination, and irate, he berated both Michael Cole and The Miz. Cole threw words at Bryan, to which he responded by jumping on the announce table and berating the commentator that had no faith in him all season. The Miz made the save but was soon locked into a LeBell Lock as that episode came to a close. The May 18th show saw Skip Sheffield being eliminated, his immunity win not factoring in this poll.
Christian did not make an appearance on Raw, SmackDown or NXT since vowing not to return until he improves. This left his rookie on NXT, Heath Slater, without a pro for the weeks leading up to Over the Limit. The Divas Title has officially been retired, thanks to the unification of Michelle McCool. The Women’s Champion told her division that she would be celebrating the “historic occasion” by taking a vacation, instructing her challengers that if they want a shot at her title, they would have to earn it against each other. The WWE Tag Team Champions, The Hart Dynasty, have enjoyed success as a team in recent weeks, but a myriad of new challengers stands in their way. Cryme Tyme, The Usos, and Luke Gallows & Joseph Mercury have all been present and clear in their willingness to dethrone the champions, and over the course of the weeks leading up to Over the Limit, Carlito & Primo buried the hatchet and threw their hat back into the tag title race. Finally, after being eliminated from NXT and attacking Michael Cole and The Miz, Daniel Bryan was furious. On the May 17th installment of Raw, Miz said he had forgiven his rookie and placed him in a match, and if Bryan won he would be allowed to remain on Raw alongside The Miz. Bryan went one-on-one with Batista later in the night. The underdog put up a valiant effort but fell to the WWE Champion in a strong showing. He hasn’t been on air since.

Yes, because instead of developing your talent into both recognizable, revered ladies all with marvelous wrestling ability, you outsource for talent for a one-night PR trip.
Not doubting the MMA women's abilities but Wrestlemania should be about the climax of the last year in WWE--not about some pop culture names that are on Raw for three weeks.

Okay just by the match card alone you've surpassed Battleground 2013 already. Ziggy beating Kane in the pre-show was fine and expected. The IC title match was really good; Sheamus winning is surprising but I know you got good plans for Sheamus so I'm all good. Subtle but I like the line where Cody says that the US Title is one that he wants more than the IC or Tag belts. Quick little quip which makes people think that title is one that people actually covet. Jericho/Miz was a fun read and I'm glad Jericho didn't put the young'un over for once. THIS match though. Fantastic. I thought the Rhodes/Goldust feud would be 110% better if Goldust was the heel and you're making that happen and planting the initial developments for it masterfully. I'm hoping for Goldy to play some mind games and not necessarily be the typical heel, ya know, while I expect Rhodes to come out of this white-hot as a face. Thank you. Stoked the tag titles got that much time--a very well-written match, some cool spots, and in the end the Usos come out looking strong. Nothing wrong there. Glad Paige retained; perfectly acceptable Divas match. Super duper surprised with the finish for Wyatt/Reigns. You've got my attention and I'm intrigued to see how you'll take it from here. Rusev beating Neville is fine and the match was cool. The WWE Title match was great as expected and the finish was pretty cool. 'Nother good showing Kev and I'm certainly excited to see how you'll take it heading into Summerslam.

Yeah there are people in that company (Hayes, McMahon) that have been racially liberal with their word choices and are still around. No reason Hogan won't be back five, six years down the line.

Just the kind of PR WWE wants to have close a week huh?
I can't see him being fully Benoit'ed from now until eternity but it'll be a few years before this subsides and he reappears on television.
I think the WWE.com stuff is egregious and insulting to fans' intelligence. It's not like we don't know Hogan was a legend, HoF, etc.
They should totally have pushed Axelmania to the moon and make that gimmick his thing.

For what it's worth I've seen on Twitter the page where he talks about his father. Tearjerker for sure.

He's already top 3 on the main roster in terms of wrestling ability. His mic skills have improved. He's more suited for a babyface role with his moveset and he's starting to find his niche with that. Super over with a ton of the audience and finally coming around on the women and children demographics.
The dude has all the tools to be the biggest star in the company the next 10 years. Could fill the Batista/Angle/Rock role of the late 2010s-early 2020s.

Ayyye ReVision. I'm diggin' The Addiction's new theme. The triple threat tag was very well-written as expected. Some really creative spots and Daniels and Kaz winning was solid. Baron Corbin's new theme is p cool too. Him beating Bo was alright and I hope this means we get some Bo on Raw and SmackDown. Those signees--Charlotte, Uhaa and O'Reilly in particular--are insane. I forgot this is still 2013 so I was initially like "wow you brought Charlotte in late" but that's still solid. Intrigued with O'Reilly but no Bobby Fish (yet). The tag grudge match was a good read and Bennett and Masters getting the win was what it was. The Women's Title match tho. Marvelous. Sasha played her role fantastically, as did Bayley, and that match told a great story. Bayley winning was great. WOW. That conclusion. It makes Sasha a mega-heel and it develops Bayley's character. Ballsy booking decision that was marvelously written. Plus there's still a chance for Sasha/AJ at Unison which I'm all for. Itami turning on Balor was something I was not expecting; neither Itami being a Paul Heyman guy nor Balor playing the face in that feud. I'm certainly intrigued for the direction you take that feud. The Scramble match was amazing as per expected and Owens winning was the right thing. Smart move with the Scramble match to get the title from Tyler to Owens without a heel vs heel match. Fun to read and after Owens' actions on Raw it's cool to see him standing tall. Overall, as expected a masterful TakeOver that can only be described in one gif:

I just like to imagine Vince and Dunn in the war room worrying that Cena is losing momentum.
"DAMMIT, he's GOTTA retain the title tonight! He lost, Hunter, LOST, to this guy two months ago. That was his first televised loss in THREE MONTHS. THREE! The fans aren't gonna see him as credible when he challenges for the WWE Title again if he loses!"

I'd be all for it if each PPV had a specific design and all they just had different color schemes/graphics on the stage each year.
