ECW on Sci-Fi @ Richmond, VA on Tuesday 1st January 2008- The opening video package that airs on every piece of WWE programming plays, highlighting the biggest moments in wrestling history like a clip of Jess McMahon to Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sammartino, Steve Austin and finally John Cena as many catchphrases from past performers are all heard, like Vince McMahon's infamous line 'You're Fired'. - "Don't Question My Heart" by Saliva begins to play as the video package is seen involving many ECW performers hitting trademark moves like Elijah Burke nailing the Elijah Express as CM Punk hitting the Go To Sleep is also seen. It ends with us seeing the ECW logo appear before cutting away. - We go to the live arena where pyrotechnics went off, us looking at the unique stage setup for ECW on Sci-Fi, the announcers Joey Styles and Tazz hyping the upcoming hour here on the ECW brand. - Colin Delaney began to make his way down the aisle to little reaction, though some people recognised him from his previous appearance two weeks ago on ECW on Sci-Fi as he climbs into the ring and grabs ahold of a microphone. Delaney began to introduce himself, reminding us of his past loss to Shelton Benjamin (coincidentally Shelton Benjamin's first appearance on ECW), let me tell you about Delaney, I thought he was doing great in CHIKARA and now, he's jobber-boy. Anyways, Armando Estrada came out and stood on the aisle as he introduced his opponent for tonight, The Miz. - The Miz defeated Colin Delaney in 2:29. This wasn't a great match and the audience didn't really care about this contest, either. It was a one-sided affair as the sloppy-yet-entertaining WWE Tag Team Champion, Miz pounded away at Colin as Armando Estrada watched on from ringside. Joey got Colin over further, but did it wrong saying that Colin used to work in the indy circuit in halls across the tri-state area. Wow. The Miz hit the Reality Check for the win. * - Post-contest, Armando Estrada laughed at Colin Delaney as he announced the main event, a four-way elimination match including ECW World Champion, CM Punk, Tommy Dreamer, Elijah Burke and Shelton Benjamin for the contenders spot to Punk's title. Miz is celebrating is in the background. - Commercials. - We return from the commercial break as we see Shelton Benjamin standing in the hallway of the backstage area before Elijah Burke walks on screen. Benjamin tells Burke that he's got no problem with Burke and that he likes him but tonight is his opportunity at winning the ECW World Championship. Elijah Burke tells Benjamin to avoid him tonight as he will not waste any time getting to the win. - Kofi Kingston defeated Mike Knox in 6:44. Another not-really good match here, and I think it's not because one of the wrestlers aren't completely over. The crowd members that actually cared about this match in my opinion anticipated Mike Knox to go over, man Knox's career has plummeted since his kayfabe relationship with Kelly Kelly came to a close in Winter 2006. Knox dominated a large part of the match but the green Kofi Kingston got in his 'Boom, Boom, Boom' routine before hitting his legdrop for a bizarre upset victory. *1/2 - Commercials. - A video hyping up a certain vampire local on ECW airs, it simply said over black in white font 'The Day Is Over, The Night Has Began, After Tonight, You Won't Be Able To Stand'. - Mark Henry and Big Daddy V defeated Alan Steele and James Kassidy in 4:12. This bout was a mere squash match, a way to get the almighty big man team of Mark Henry and Big Daddy V over as monster heels. I hope they never pick up the Tag Team Championships though, that would be a passable time in 2008 for me. Anyways, Alan Steele is a former Second City Saints member from ROH named Ace Steele. James Kassidy used to team with KC James, failing to win the WWE Tag Team Championships in 2006. Big Daddy V hit the Elbow Drop on Kassidy for the win. *1/4 - As Mark Henry and Big Daddy V celebrated, Matt Striker put them over, getting close to the camera, yelling into it. - We see Colin Delaney struggling in the backstage area as the former Innovator of Violence, Tommy Dreamer (he showed himself as a true softy here) asked him if he wanted assistance, helping him to the medical room as we cut away. - A graphic hypes up the main event. - Commercials. - Shelton Benjamin defeated Tommy Dreamer, Elijah Burke & CM Punk to gain contention to the ECW World Championship in a four-way elimination match in 14:30. The match was obviously the match of the night but even this wasn't above average in match rating, I expected alot more from this match, four solid performers but then again it could be the case of not being able to have their in-ring styles blend in. Anyways, the audience were into it as Elijah Burke and Shelton Benjamin worked as a unit for a lot of the match over Tommy Dreamer especially, CM Punk almost made Benjamin tap to the Anaconda Vice, but Elijah Burke broke it up. Benjamin hit the T-Bone Suplex from out of nowhere to eliminate Tommy Dreamer as CM Punk was doubled teamed fro a little while. Punk then hit the GTS on Burke to eliminate him, but immediately after it was Shelton Benjamin who hit a clean Playdirt (A downward spiral style move) for the victory! **- Shelton Benajmin began to celebrate as the announcers sounded shocked that Shelton Benjamin had pinned their ECW World Champion, CM Punk in his second ever match in ECW, gaining contention in the process. They put over ECW as we go off the air. OVERALL: *1/2

Like the whole beginning with the videos although if you keep that up it will be abit annoying, staight into a job match I wouldn't usually book that, the Colin/Estrada story should be good, don't de-push Knox damn hes a good big man, Kofi's rise to stardum will be cool just with loads of new guys comming in its a bot crowded, cool Vamp promo I allways liked Thorn, hope Alan and KC don't stick around bring Alan up with Colt though, 2 squashes meh, why are you pushing the fatties! don't like Benjamin jumping into the title match, what would have happened if Punk wan? A below average show really but was very realistic, good luck I know you'll pull it off

loving the ECW Logo first thing's first. The Miz > Delaney seems a fairly good opener too me to open up the show. Main even tlooks very nice too me, Kingston beating Knox is good, GO KINGSTON! Oh and keep him on ECW. Im not digging hte penultimate match being a squash, still it puts Mark Henry and BDV over I guess. Shelton Benjamin winning this was kinda stupid to me, he clean pinned the ECW Champ and this is the kinda thing you criticize me for its obvious Shelton/Punk feud will be soon Overall... not the greatest show ever but not a disaster either.

-Miz/Delany wasn't much but I guess it helps get Miz over -I liked the promo with Burke & Benjamin, push both please -Thank god Kofi went over Knox, don't like Knox at all -Vampire thing could be cool -Good way to put over BDV & Henry -Benjamin winning was good, and although he pinned the Champ, it was an out of nowhere pin so Punk doesn't look bad
Decent ECW

Hopefully you end up sticking with this diary. Miz-Delaney opening the show was meh, it would get people to turn off the TV right away. Nice interaction backstage between Shelton/Burke to create tension. A Henry/V alliance is actually pretty good and dominant. Main event sounded like it was really good. Punk/Shelton is a good choice to put as a title match. I feel like the two should have feuded, which never ended up happening.

ECW - The overall reaction to ECW on Sci-Fi last night was that it had more involvement in matches over segments, as shown from the actual coverage posted in regards to ECW on Sci-Fi last night, it had four matches (twice of which where squash matches) yet had three commercial breaks with little involvement other than the Shelton Benjamin/Elijah Burke segment in the backstage area. Also, all four matches were below average, odds are that WWE will be trying to fix that for the Tuesday 8th January 2008 edition of ECW. - ECW on Sci-Fi last night scored a 1.5 rating from the Sci-Fi Network, the highest rating was during the main event segment followed by the opener. - Balls Mahoney, CM Punk, Elijah Burke, Layla El, Mike Knox and Tommy Dreamer's contracts were all up for February 1st 2008. It has been rumored that Balls Mahoney's contract will not be resigned as Mahoney feels it is time to re-explore the independent scene. CM Punk, Elijah Burke and Tommy Dreamer have all reportedly resigned. - ECW and SmackDown will be hosting a House Show tonight and Saturday night in the Virginia area this week and it has been announced that four Royal Rumble Preliminary matches will take place. Unlike other years, WWE have shown signs of wanting all thirty superstars fairly advance into the Royal Rubmle match through a Preliminary contest.

ECW Review
Miz/Colin: A squash win for Miz? I like how your writing as if you are a outsider who is watching the show and in some cases ripping apart some of the wrestlers. I like that, easier flow to read.
Burke/Shelton interview: It appears they are friends, and I like Shelton being the one to tell Burke to stay out of his way. Adds some tension to that possible friendship.
Kingston/Knox: Two different styles. You already have enough brawlers in Henry and Big Daddy V so the right and more talented man went over here.
Henry/V/Jobbers: I’m all about squashes to help the big guys get over more.
Fatal Four Way: I love Benjamin pinning the champion. Though I am not sure why the champion was involved in the match as it was a contention match for his title. Anyway, I think Shelton and Punk could have a great feud, especially if Benjamin is continued to be booked very strong.
Overall: Seemingly your trying to get everyone over. That will take a few weeks most likely, but their wasn’t anything that I didn’t agree with. Solid show.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown @ Richmond, VA on Friday 4th January 2008 - The opening video package that airs on every piece of WWE programming plays, highlighting the biggest moments in wrestling history like a clip of Jess McMahon to Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sammartino, Steve Austin and finally John Cena as many catchphrases from past performers are all heard, like Vince McMahon's infamous line 'You're Fired'. - "Rise Up" by Drowning Pool begins to play as the video package is seen involving many SmackDown performers hitting trademark moves like Batista nailing the Spinebuster as Undertaker hitting the Tombstone is also seen. It ends with us seeing the SmackDown logo appear before cutting away. - We go to the live arena where pyrotechnics went off, us looking at the unique stage setup for Friday Night SmackDown, the announcers Michael Cole and Jonathan Coachman hyping the upcoming two hours here on The CW. - We cut to the ring where Vickie Guerrero is seen sitting in the comfort of her own wheelchair in the ring as the audience booed loudly. Vickie is on my screen so much it's like watching MILF porn, and I hate that stuff. Anyways, she cuts a promo through all of the booing and whatnot, putting over her boyfriend, Edge and that tonight would see somebody have the opportunity of becoming the number one contender to his World Heavyweight Championship as tonight will include three Beat The Clock challenges. We then hear the theme of Edge play as the World Heavyweight Champion, Edge himself walks down the aisle into the ring where he questions Vickie for doing this. Vickie whispers something into Edge's ear as he grins and laughing, Vickie announcing that the first match of the Beat The Clock challenge would be Edge taking on Rey Mysterio in non-title action! Edge goes ballistic. - Commercials. - Edge defeated Rey Mysterio in 9:51 in the first of three Beat The Clock Challenge matches. This was a great back-and-forth contest here between two former friends, I remember their short-yet-awesome reeking reing as WWE Tag Team Champions, back when the titles had respect. Then again this friendship reminds me of Rey and Edge's awful feud with Albert/A-Train/Giant Bernard. Rey Mysterio had a great burst of speed and hyperness in the opening minutes of this match, causing Edge to retreat numerous times, with his athletic skills in the ring. Edge tried to put Rey away however by dodging his attacks and trying something sneaky, only most of the time this failed. Mysterio hit the 619 eventually but whilst going for the Springboard Splash, Edge got his knees up and Speared him out of nowhere for the win. ***3/4 - Edge celebrated as he left the ring and made out with his handicapped girlfriend, Vickie Guerrero at ringside, carting her up the aisle whilst celebrating. - We cut to the backstage area where the WWE United States Champion, Montel Vontanious Porter was standing alongside the number one announcer on SmackDown, Funaki. Funaki asks how confident MVP is in some Japanese manner as MVP joked about how stupid Funaki was, bragging about him being better than Matt Hardy, injuring him and on his way to being one of the greatest wrestlers ever to hold the US title. MVP walked off as Funaki comically said to the screen that MVP was a jackass. - We cut to the backstage area where the WWE Tag Team Champions, John Morrison and The Miz were hanging out as SmackDown diva, Michelle McCool passed by, the two watching her ass through her jeans. Morrison complimented her on it as McCool called them jerks. Miz comically marked out when he saw Ric Flair standing across the hall. They went over to him as John Morrison acted all snobby arund Naitch, Miz marking out still. Morrison asked Miz what he saw in Flair when he was nothing but a washed-up hasbeen loser. Flair laughed in Morrison's face saying that he'd pay for that comment sooner or later. They both got in each others face. Miz broke them up as Flair called Miz 'Lassie', telling him to shoo with Morrison. - John Morrison defeated Jimmy Wang Yang in 7:15. This was a great contest, barely less as entertaining as the opening contest, believe it or not. These two went out to attempt to steal the show and believe me, their task was almost successful but only slightly fell short. Neither men had their tag team partner with them at the opening bell, the two starting off as Morrison blocked Wang Yang's chances at getting in a burst of hyperness like Rey Mysterio had earlier on against Edge. Morrison worked over Jimmy before Wang Yang began to battle back, hitting that backflip kick in the corner, I love that spot. Yang almost finished it with a moonsault on a standing Morrison but The Miz ran down and got on the apron, Morrison grabbing a distracted Jimmy with the Moonlight Drive. ***1/4 - John Morrison celebrated as The Miz jumped an uprising Jimmy Wang Yang from behind, Morrison suddenly deciding to join him in the blindsighted sneak attack before Shannon Moore began to rush down to the ring as Miz and Morrison fleed. - A RAW Rebound promo airs, reminding us that Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton is scheduled for the Royal Rumble as well as Vince McMahon placing the Career Threatening stipulation on Ric Flair. - Montel Vontanious Porter defeated Finlay in a non-title match in 08:40. This was another decent contest, here tonight on Friday Night SmackDown as the WWE United States Champion, MVP went out there for a decent bout against Finlay. Both men exchanged hard-hitting moves as Montel repeatedly retreated to the outside of the ring, causing Finlay to go after him. When this happened, MVP jumped Finlay instead, working on his shoulder throughout the contest. There was some stalling but MVP did a good half-nelson submission hold at one point. Finlay eventually fought back but when going for the Celtic Cross, MVP got out and rolled Finlay up for the win! **1/2 - MVP begins to celebrate as Finlay gets onto his knees in complete shock, looking slightly pissed for losing to the WWE United States Champion. MVP taunts Finlay from the aisle. - Commercials. - We return from the commercial break as Vickie Guerrero is seen in her office once again in the comfort of her wheelchair (funny enough, there was a couch right behind her. Edge then came through in out-of-ring attire, asking Vickie what she's going to do about The Undertaker in his Beat the Clock challenge. Vickie tells Edge not to worry saying that some friends of his will 'assist' him. - We cut to the backstage area where Michelle McCool walks up to Chuck Palumbo and tells him about how the jerks, John Morrison and The Miz were looking at her. Chuck tells McCool to ignore them before telling her to hop on to his motorcycle as he's got a match next. - Chuck Palumbo, Jesse and Festus defeated Kenny Dykstra and Deuce 'N' Domino in 5:52. This was not the greatest match as it was really just a six-man slugfest. These men weren't too over, so only half of the audience were interested in what went on in the ring. Deuce 'N' Domino are weak in the ring, they couldn't realy mix in with anybody in this match. Jesse and Kenny Dykstra were really the most valuable players in their team during this match. Jesse started off with Domino as Jesse used some fast-paced action before Deuce kneed him in the spine through the ropes while Jesse ran into them. The heels worked over Jesse, all three men getting in before Jesse finally tagged in Festus, who went beserk. I think they're running the gimmick of Festus going mental with a tag now, makes more sense. Festus went mental, Chuck fended off the other two men as Festus nailed the TKO on Kenny Dykstra for the win. *1/4 - Jesse, Festus, Chuck Palumbo and Michelle McCool celebrated following the match as Palumbo seperated himself from the somewhat insane countrymen, Jesse and Festus while Michelle McCool celebrated with Chuck, hugging him and whatnot in a 'friendship sorta way' as Michael Vintage Cole noted. - A graphic hypes up Undertaker's Beat The Clock challenge, up next on Friday Night SmackDown. - A 'Don't Try This At Home' vignette is ran by John Morrison. I find these dumb, especially when heels cut a promo about how they trained what they do in the ring first. - The Undertaker draw The Edgeheads and Chavo Guerrero in 9:51 in a three-on-one handicap match in the second of three matches in the Beat The Clock challenge. This match was created as a way to keep The Undertaker from winning the Beat The Clock challenge and conquering Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship at Royal Rumble. Taker seemed slightly angered by this match as he took out the Edge Heads, Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins but whenever pinning one of them, Chavo (who was hiding on the outside of the ring) rushed in to break it up. Well him or the other Edge Head free from pinfall. This got to the point where Taker chased Chavo out and ran Chavo into the ring, at the same time getting triple-teamed. Undertaker finally hit the Tombstone on Chavo after a duo Chokeslam for the Edge Heads but when covering, time ran out at the count of two. *1/2 - We return to the backstage area where the Nature Boy, Ric Flair is seen once again as he walks into Vickie Guerrero's office, eyeing Edge as Vickie acted giddy at Undertaker not getting the win faster than Edge. Flair told Edge that he had business with Vickie, not Edge. Vickie asks Ric what he wants as Ric asks Vickie for a match with John Morrison next week on Friday Night SmackDown. Vickie approves it, asking Ric if he really wants to put his career on the line against Morrison. Flair says it doesn't matter, he wants some respect from John Morrison. - The main event is hyped up in a graphic, Batista's Beat The Clock challenge match is up next! - Commercials. - Batista defeated Mark Henry in 7:44 in the third of three Beat The Clock challenge matches. An actually decent match here between two slightly mediocre competitors, Batista and Mark Henry. This match reminded me of that dire feud they had last year that got Batista sidelined. Clumsy Mark. These two battled for a little while as Batista refused to give up against the 'Silverback', Mark Henry, Henry beating down Batista. Henry unfairly had Big Daddy V's manager, Matt Striker at ringside as Henry began to work away at Batista. Mark then got set up for his greatly painful World's Stongest Slam only for Batista to get out of it and clothesline Mark down. Batista took Striker off of the apron before spearing Chavo down, too. Batista hit an impressive spinebuster on Henry for the win. ***3/4 - Batista began to celebrate as he was now going to go to Royal Rumble and face Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship, unfortunately his celebration party was shortlived as Mark Henry began to beat down Batista with Chavo Guerrero. That cued Rey Mysterio to return to the ring as he hit a nice springboard DDT on Chavo. Batista clotheslined Henry through the ropes and celebrated as Edge looked in concern from the aisle. We go off the air. - OVERALL: **3/4

-Man, MILFS rock...but not Vickie -Very good opener, as I really like Edge winning, but why was the Champ in a Beat the Clock match? -I like Morrison/Yang being a good match, and I feel that could a good Tag Team feud -I like MVP winning by a fluke, although I wish this was a Beat the Clock match -Six man tag was meh -3 on 1 wasn't great but served it's purpose -Flair/Morrison should be good -Batista/Edge has been done too much I think
Good, solid show

Edge winning made sense, and glad it wasn't too quick. Wonder where you're going with Miz/Morrison/Flair. Obvious that Morrison would pick up the win, although I think that match was too long considering it was somewhat of a squash. IT's nice to actually see MVP, you know, win. Six-man tag was extremely meh. Interesting idea to stack the odds against Taker like that. Batista-Edge is ok, although it's been done a lot, but it's only the Rumble so it's not a big deal at all.
