I just want to say how happy I am. It's been tough these last 9 years and I'm a fanatic to the point of it being a very unhealthy obsession. The Yankees, and winning the World Series is all I think about all day everyday and it's really taken a toll on me and I've taken losses very tough in the past. It's nice to sort of be able to mentally relax (for a little while anyway, lol). I want to congratulate the Phillies on a great season, they have a lot to to be proud of. They played us tough every game and none of these games were laughers or blow outs, and they were in it until the very end. If they had hit a home run in the 7th inning of Marte it would have been a 1 run game. The Phillies are a great team, they play great baseball and their fans are just as devoted and love the game of baseball just as much as us. I know I'm not a player or on the team, but even for me it's just the greatest feeling in the world even as a fan to put your heart and soul into something and live and die with every win or loss for 6 months and actually have it all actually happen the way you dream about every night. This is all I've wanted for 9 years, and like I said, I'm just really happy and it's just such a relief to be able to mentally relax and not be worrying about it every single day. Im still looking forward to that Astros/Yankees game, Brian has to come also.

Hands down, that. Props to you, Lorenzo for that. And props for the respect you showed the Phillies as a team, and us Phillies fans on here. Enjoy this championship. I certainly did every bit last year, and it's your turn, as your team earned it. Congrats.

Phillies free agents:
Brett Myers Matt Stairs Scott Eyre Chan Ho Park Paul Bako Pedro Martinez Tyler Walker Miguel Cairo
Club options
Lee ($9 mil) Feliz ($5.5 mil)
Lee's option is going to get exercised. That's a given. He has the option to ask for a trade over the off season, but I don't think that's going to happen. Feliz has a good glove, but I don't know if he's worth $5 mil or not just for his glove. Bako will probably walk. Park and Eyre may walk too though I could see one of them coming back. Cairo and Walker are gone. Moyer is owed $8 mil next year. I can't see him staying around though. He just wasn't effective last year. Myers is like a rich man's Oliver Perez. He'll shut everyone down one night and get lit up for 8 runs in the first the next start. It's ridiculous. There's no consistency there. He has said he wants to close. Is he the answer to the Phillies closer issue? They need a right handed bat in the lineup desperately. They also need another really good starter. Lee was the only starter who won a game in the WS. That's ridiculous.

I really wish the Yankees wouldn't be "the Yankees" this offseason and let Damon & Matsui go just to sign some big name OF. Seriously both of those guys did perfectly fine at their respective positions. Enough to be able to get through another 3 years? For sure.
They won the WORLD SERIES with them. They have to be doing something right. I just don't want to see the 2010 Yankees without Damon & Matsui.

Matt Holliday is out on the FA market. The Yankees will toss $30 million at him and he'll be patrolling LF next year in Yankee stadium. This how the Yankees usually operate.

Are you really blinded by that World Series last night already? You seem to forget Matsui's RECENT injury history. Damon might be able to handle DH for 3 years but with a steady decline, but where would you put Matsui? He can not play the OF at all. This is why fans dont run teams, they get too sentimental. Pedro, Lowe etc...thanks for the ring, good luck elsewhere. Yankees need to get younger at a few positions, and the OF is one of them.

What can I say about this team? It was just a terrific season all year. Phillies played us very, very tough. Congratulations to the Yankees...
Actual baseball news:
The White Sox have confirmed the trade, according to The Chicago Sun Times. It's Teahen for Getz and Fields.
9:04am: According to Bill Madden of The NY Daily News, the Royals have agreed to send the versatile Mark Teahen to the White Sox in exchange for Chris Getz and Josh Fields. Madden says Teahen is expected to replace free agent-to-be Jermaine Dye in right field.

Well I was very happy seeing Mo close it out last night and the Yankees winning the World Series. Me and my dad were watching it together just like every day when we watch the Yankees and every Sunday when we watch the Giants. It was cool to see the season end that way and congrats to all the players who made it happen.
The Phillies are a great team, I never felt safe with a lead against them. Overall it was a very entertaining and hard fought series and now i'm just glad it's over and they wrapped it up in New York.

Part of me would love to see the Phillies let Feliz go and bring back Rolen. I have no idea what kind of contract he's under or how much he's making though. He would give them a Gold Glover at 3b and a middle of the order, right handed bat. Plus, you would have an entirely homegrown IF and 3 ROYs. How sweet would that be?
Lineup could be:
Rollins Utley Rolen Howard Werth Ibanez Victorino Ruiz
You've got the righties and lefties split up and you add speed at the bottom of your lineup.

I honestly dont think NY goes after Holliday. From what I was reading his numbers arnt that good in the AL. Honestly either Damon or Matsui is going to come back. NY has said its very unlikely that both will be back though. Even though Matsui had a great world series I gotta take Damon because he had all around better year from start to finish. Plus you can get 1 more year out of him in left, send him to DH afterwards if the A-Jax experiment works out.

Holliday played 93 games for Oakland. He hit .286/11/54. He's younger and healthier than Damon or Matsui. That was his first year in the AL too. A lot of guys have a hard time adjusting after switching leagues.
