World Wrestling Athletics: Worldwide combat. Welcome to the new era of figure feds, World Wrestling Athletics! Like their real-life counterpart, WWE, the WWA is split into two distinct brands, Northern Combat and Southern Warfare - but that is where the similarities end. Since its inception in November 2009, the WWA has represented a changing of the guard in wrestling federations. The company, which promotes the athletic side of sports entertainment, started with one common goal: anything can happen. The most eye-catching aspect of WWA is the fact that, for the first time ever, major decisions in a figure fed are not made by the owner. They are not be made by the fans. It's all about luck. Match victors and champions are decided by a random scoring system, known by some as "The Best Kept Secret in Figure Feds." In January 2010, WWA's primary brand became Northern Combat. WWA-NC broadcasts weekly on Fox Sports North and the WrestlingFigs.com network. Unlike other figure feds, WWA-Northern Combat athletes are divided into divisions: Heavyweight, Welterweight, and Cruiserweight. Despite that, the athletes are encouraged to take fights outside of their division in order to earn contendership for the WWA's Pound-for-Pound Championship of the World. World Wrestling Athletics has come from humble beginnings and grown to become one of the most popular federations on the WrestlingFigs.com network, competing with the likes of CWE and WCW. The WWA made its largest splash in Feb. 2010 when it presented the first ever Wrestlympics, a 64-man tournament pitting athletes from all of the companies of WF into the ring. WWA 2 on the air + Wrestler leavesOur second show, "Our Time to Shine," is live and available here. It's a severe upset in the tournament finals that you don't want to miss! In the weeks following the taping of our first two shows, it was decided that Jamie Noble would no longer be needed in WWA, so he has received his release. Also, it is our pleasure to announce the newest addition to the roster, David Hart Smith. The son of the Bulldog will join the Heavyweight division, evening out the rosters to 11 men apiece. Smith will make his debut on WWA 3.

Hardy, Delaney join WWA ranks
In honor of my 10,001st post, I will announce a couple new additions to the WWA roster: (what better way to celebrate a meaningless accomplishment?) Matt Hardy, at 236 pounds, will join the WWA Heavyweight ranks. He might debut in some capacity at WWA 3: "Second Chance," while Colin Delaney, at 150 pounds, will be come the smallest competitor in WWA's Pound-for-Pound division. We should see him in action at WWA 4.

The next two episodes of WWA are "taped," but you'll have to wait for them because I've only received one reply so far to WWA 2 and I'd like to give more people a chance to R&R. WWA 5 is going to be a special show, sort of a PPV style with all titles on the line.

WWA 4 coming tomorrow
I'll post WWA 4 sometime tomorrow night, and WWA 5 should be up sometime next week and will feature four title matches and some huge announcements. But before then...
WWA 4 is tomorrow night featuring Christian vs. Chris Jericho for the No. 1 contendership of the Welterweight Championship, as well as the official weigh-in for the World Championship battle between Jack Swagger and Paul Burchill.
So, stay tuned for that!
