Well, since Jakks is coming to an end, and this board will likely become a thing of the past in a few months, we all need to share our fondest memories of figure buying. Relate to different things, including your time on this board, fun collecting gave you, etc.
I'll start off by saying discovering this forum three years ago was a great thing for me. I remember joining after Christmas and being really excited to know all of this news and stuff. I remember when 2007 started how I excited I was for all the upcoming figures. I had only gotten back into collecting in March 2006, and I wasn't on the forums until late '06. So I knew '07 would be a good collecting year. AD 22 was highly anticipated by me. I remember how excited I was for RA 26 back in May '07. There was a bunch of news about how Target was getting the set in. On my third try I believe, I found the whole set down by my Target. It was so cool to get my first Benoit, Hardcore Holly, and an awesome updated Regal. A week later I found my first 1 of 500 which was Regal.
I remember RA 27 being a very cool set at the time too. My first Kennedy and that awesome Masters in blue. DA 10 was also a cool set and the Matt was very exciting for me since I wasn't buying DA's when series 5 came out. That set was well discussed on here. Oh man, and RA 28. What a great set that was. I found two 1 of 500 McMahon's over the span of two weeks. Oh, and who could forget ECW 2? I remember how anxiously we awaited the protos and when they finally came we were somewhat disappointed. But the final set turned out great. Move forward to AD 26. Oh what a set. 5 debut figures and an awesome King Booker.
Things got a bit better from then on too. 2008 also gave us some great figures throughout the year. I don't have too many fond memories of collecting in '08 except for being really excited for Cody's first figure and finding a 1 of 500 Edge late in the year. 2009 was definitely not a good year for figures at all. We started off pretty well but things went downhill as we all know. I think the highlights of this year have to be all the Jeff Hardy figures, RA 40 Jericho and all the updated Cena and Edge figures. '09 was a mixed bag.
I do feel biased towards collecting in '07 because I was simply very into things then with figures. But hey, here I am, close to 300 figures later, and ready to usher in a new era. It's time for Mattel in another 2 weeks or so. It's time for a new decade and new figures. I look forward to 2010 and seeing what exactly Mattel brings to the table. Jakks was a great company through the years and nobody can doubt that. They cut costs near the end and screwed us over, but they served us many years and gave a lot of people a fun ride through those years. Well, that's all I have to really say. It was a fun ride for the near 4 years of my re-collecting phase. Very cool stuff all around. This board as a whole made my collecting phase a blast. It's been fun guys, it really has. Hopefully we can all enjoy Mattel's stuff and have some fun in that board!
Let's hear some stories and reflect on what was a great run with Jakks.

In retrospect I have been with Jakks since the begining in 96 when I was 16, and here we are in 2009 and I am 29, married with child!!! What a run it was! I have so many memories from collecting the very first set of BCA coincedently on my 16th birthday. And at the time in high school WCW was on the rise and it was a great time to be a wrestling fan. I remember I was sick and my brother bought me my first two pack's consisting of Bob Backlund and the Sultan, I loved the Sultan so much for some odd reason. And Crush with Clarence Mason. It was Crush's first figure since the Hasbro days and I was happy to have him again. Also I loved the new Blackjacks, what a run they had for me at the time and let's not forget all the LOD's from BCA to the surprising release of CSTT 1 along with the Hart Foundation and the Rockers!!! What a feeling it was to get a figure and the only way to know the rest of the set was to flip over the box and hope to see!!! Fast foward to the Classic line in 03. I was pumped for the fact that WWE was going to produce another Ultimate Warrior and Bret Hart, previously I thought I would never see a figure of them under the WWE name again. I can go on forever... Maybe if this thread keeps going I will add more to it. It is a great feeling to look back and reflect on all the joy I had collecting perhaps the greatest WWE roster ever assembled!!!

The beginning of the classics was the best thing for me. I had just got into collectiong again, though this time very seriously. I had taken time off in the worst possible time from late 2001 to early 2003. This time i was here to stay and was intrigued by the production of the Ultimate Warrior, HHH, HBK, Bret Hart, LOD, Big John Studd, Ric Flair in old school gear, and even the 2 releases of Mick Foley as Mankind and Cactus Jack. About the same time, I had went to RingsideFest and purchased 24 Yokozunas and to this day only own 2. Also at that time i enjoyed the Toys R Us 2 Packs and swtill regret not buying Taker and Mankind at retail in NYC. When it came out I also had the great honor to actually find a 1/500 Big Show. Not just 1 but 2. Now to this day i have not stopped the serious collection and i am very excited for the upcoming Mattel toy contract. Thanks for the great times Jakks!

I have been collecting Jakks since the first BCA line in 1996. While there have been a number of blunders over the years, I do feel that the company has given us the most complete collection of any property or franchise (Star Wars excluded).
I am in possession of over 600 Jakks WWF/WWE products. And that is after I recently eBayed 95% of my RA/DA/CS/CSDA collection. For awhile I was an absolute completist of the BCA line and TTL lines. Every figure of every set.
My fond memories of the Jakks "era" of WWF/WWE merchandise is almost unrivaled when it comes to my collecting of action figures.
I have not purchased a Jakks figure since this past summer. Being a completist of Mattel's other lines (Ghostbusters and DC Universe) I knew that I would be going all in on Mattel's WWE offerings. So Jakks is over for me (I may get a Sting figure if a decent RA one comes out). Bring on Mattel.
I will say that Jakks really did dissapoint in the last few months. The sheer lack of any enthusiam on the main line of WWE figures was really crappy to see after so many years of great figures and accessories.
EDIT: I forgot to put my fondest memories, lol.
-Birthday 1998 I got the RAW is WAR monster ring from my parents
-Easter 1998 my Mom got me the BCA LOD set, Superstars Series 5 Rocky Maivia, Flash Funk and Ken Shamrock figures and Series 4 "Bad Boys" Steve Austin
-The first TTL Real Scan figures!
-And honestly, finding this website back in 1999. It was AFR back then. I have been on this site under a number of different handles since then (Project Rich, Da Blazer, Eight-Four among others) and I have really enjoyed talking about wrestling figures with a lot of the people here. Ironically, the Wrestling Figure Talk Board is my LEAST favorite of all the boards here now, but all in all, I have many fond memories of this particular board.

I found this form back when Real Scan first came out.
My fondest memories of Jakks was most likely when I first started collecting the BCAs. It's when I left Star Wars in the dust. I remeber going to toys r us and having $10 bucks and getting 2 figures and just having a whole afternoon just playing. I remember when I first got my WWF monster Ring which to this day is still really bad ass.

The only REAL fond memory of the Jakks era for me was the day I first discovered Jakks. It was in the summer and Hasbro's had been long gone. At the time, HBK was my favorite wrestler. I had his Hasbro's, but did not like the fact that they all had molded on glasses cept his Rocker version. I had never been to WFigs at the time. Hell, dont even know if it existed at the time. I went to TRU to get a new Super Soaker for a pool party a friend of mine was having. We went in and I got my gun, the 150. I headed to the toy aisle just got crap and giggles. Saw my first Jakks BCA figure......Bret Hart. I turned the package over and saw HBK on the back of the box and went threw the rack. 1 Shawn left, no Diesels. I remember that cuz I did want one. I got Shawn and only Shawn. I was so excited that day.
Since it was my only BCA figure, I had to use other company's figures for his opponents and title belts. I had the Galoob WCW title belts I used, along with the LJN like WCW figures of The Giant and Vader. I also had Remco's of Flair and Zbysko. So that was my fed.
Ironically, Shawn broke within 2 weeks. His leg just fell off and I couldnt get it back on. I called TRU and they didnt have anymore. They had Bret, Razor, Gold dust and Undertaker. No Shawn and No Diesel. It was 3 months later before they got anymore in. I ended up gluing Shawn's leg on and had him hobble in every match.

When I first saw BCA i was like damn they suck and me and my brother laughed at them and said they are to tall and skinny.......... but a weird way I was drawn to them and never found series 1 ever again in stores first Jakks figs were Bret and Vader the rest is history ... I completely quit towards the end of TTL days the articulation just sucked......... fast forward CS brings me back I look in WWE magazine and see CS1 by this time they all flew off shelves...... LOD 2 pack was a high point ........ so was finding DACS1 when I never knew they were out.

Man, I don't collect any where near as much as I used to but I was with Jakks right at the beginning. I think my first figure was a BCA Diesel that one of my old friends got for me when he went up to Wisconsin. I still have a ton of my old BCA, Titan Tron, nWo and some classic series.

Summer of 1996
I think it was August, it could have been July, I don't remember but it was summer time and I was around 11 or 12. My mom took me and my brother to Hills one day, probably for school clothes, so it must have been August. Anyway me and my brother went right the action figure section of course and they had all the brand new WWF Jakks Bone Crushing Action figures.
Undertaker Bret Hart Shawn Michaels Diesel Razor Ramon Goldust
I was in shock, I didn't know anything about these figures, I had no internet, nothing.... So after begging my mom to buy is these figures, my brother and I got 3 each, so we would get the whole set.
So for the next 4 years or so Bone Crushing Action figures were all me and my friends cared about, I collected everything, every figure. I have so many great memories of going to Toys R Us with my friends hunting these figures down, it was just such a great time, 96-99.
Also, I use to post on this message board years ago under the name Bret Hart 316, I remember coming here looking at all the amazing customs from Shorty, Tiny, HBK2000, really, truly, great memories.
Thank you Jakks.

Yeh have some great memories of Jakks and I to will be going in to the mattel line keeping a few jakks figure for memories. I started collecting I think 1998 first figure being a Thrasher came in some kind of a water set. As i only had him i would mix him around with hasbro's. Then over the next 5 years I developed quite a collection with lots of rings, TTL stages, TTL figures, the figures with funn hands and others. Then in 2003 I hit around the teenage years and gave up however in 2006 I started again and havent looked back. One of the fondest memories I have was going on holiday in october 99 and getting the raw is war monster ring and me and 2 mates sitting in a club on holiday playing with figures lol bring on 2010 and mattel!

2004 was the best year for Jakks WWE figures. I wanted to buy as many Cenas as I could. The TRU Wrestlemania XX Winners series that year was one of the best they ever produced. It is a shame now with the crap that they have put out this year.
