I miss about 2001-2003 and some portions after that (ie. Smackdown 2004, Raw 2005)

I'm not talking about the Attitude era, I'm talking about the WWE before 2008. There was a time when the rosters, shows, and PPV's meant something and felt more special. I think the product started going downhill around mid-2008, around the time it went PG. I'm not blaming the rating, but I'm saying that after that things seemed to get bad. First of all, the Raw roster right now is a complete joke. You got these guys like MVP, Mark Henry, Evan Bourne, Primo, Chris Masters, Chavo Guerrero, Hornswoggle, etc, who are a joke. There was a time when MVP was amazing in every way, now he's hideous. Nobody seems to be given a push, nothing. It seems like everybody is thrown into matches and means nothing. Smackdown also seems to be a disaster, but at least somewhat better than Raw. I don't know, but everything seems to get worse... I miss ECW too, as that was easily the best weekly show... now we sit through this garbage show "NXT"... which I don't even bother to watch. You sir are a dumbass. Wow, seriously? When was the last time ANY of those guys had a match that was even above average?

I've always felt WWE went downhill after about Wrestlemania XX-ish, maybe not so much some of the much quality is it were the hype. I felt nothing for a lot of Pay Per Views I agree. After 2004 I lost passion. WWE is terrible at building stars and storylines these days. If I'm going to buy a PPV, give me a good feud and make me want to see it. Not just because I'm promised a Table match in the main event.

I miss the late 70's and all of the 80's era of WWE. Screw the attitude and ruthless era's. fire there "creative" writers and hire wrestlers to do the writing..... Get the "E" out if ya know what I mean......

Am I the only wrestling fan left of the planet that just enjoys the WWE for what it is and doesn't feel the need to pick apart EVERY single thing they do and turn it into something negative just because (Insert Favorite Wrestler Here) isn't getting a World Title shot every single week, or "TEY ARNTSS POOOSHING THA YOUNGGG GUYZZZZ!!!!!!!"
There are some things I dont like, some I do. The good outweighs the bad for sure.
There have been plenty of ups & downs this past decade...but so were there in the "Attitude era" The problem is, back then, we didn't have the internet as big as it is now, we hadn't seen things like TLC matches before, and we had guys like Austin, DX, Rock & Vince doing crazy things every week. People are forgetting how awful mid-card wrestling was back in the 90's we're lucky to see guys like MVP, Swagger, Cody, Ted, Kofi, etc. filling up the mid cards now.
Example: Has anyone looked at the Wrestlemania 2000 card recently?
The Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan defeated The Godfather and D'Lo Brown
Hardcore Holly won by last defeating Crash Holly ( Hardcore battle royal for the WWF Hardcore Championship)
Test and Albert defeated Head Cheese with Chester McCheeserton
Too Cool and Chyna defeated Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko
Rikishi and Kane defeated X-Pac and Road Dogg
Aside from the TLC match, the Triple Threat for the IC title & the main event...that was the rest of the card. Yet people today complain that John Morrison isn't in "Money in the Bank"
And don't let me go back to Wrestlemania 13-15 which was right in the center of the storied "Attitude Era"

The "Ruthless Aggression Era" from 2002-2008 was great, but it went downhill in 2009 with the PG Era

I'm gonna condense my answer into a few bullet points.
- I've been watching WWE for the last 10 years, and 2007, from start to finish, was the absolute worst period of WWE programming I've seen.
- 2001 to mid-2006 was highly enjoyable in my opinion. There were times that were not so enjoyable (the slightly down period from after the Invasion to mid-2002 for instance), and of course several bag characters, angles etc as there always are. But there are so many fond memories of these years for me... I would be happy to list them but... I won't.
- 2007 really was the most depressing, bland, boring time in all of my 10 years of being a fan.
- 2008 began on a high and things were looking to pick up, but then mid-2008 was a bit forgettable. 2009 was a pretty good year in my view, quite underrated when I think about the match quality, rising stars etc.
- The roster now is the best it has ever been I think. For years there has been tons of clutter on the roster, and for the last three and a half years, ECW has been a bit of a filler brand. But now, nearly everyone has a purpose.
So, yes I miss the years BEFORE 2007 (NOT including), but I certainly don't think the current product is much worse. I'd also like to add that many things are better now than in the Attitude Era, such as the average match quality, production, and the whole mid-card.

To me its mostly the guest hosts that make me change the channel. It isn't SNL, so wtf are they doing? How many diffrerent "celebrities" (I put that in quotations because the term should be used loosely with most of the people they have had so far) can interact with Santino, Jillian and The Bella Twins before it gets stale? They really need to end that gimmick, especially with TNA on mondays too. I just think its pathetic to have Nancy O Dell (for example) hosting RAW when nobody knows who the she is in the first place just because you're trying to keep up a lame promise to your viewers. I wouldn't be as opposed to a more variety/comedy show IF the WWE writers were at all funny. The last time I laughed at anything on Raw it was Kelly Kelly's footwear on thanksgiving (and they didn't write that)

There are still things i enjoy in WWE...but also things I wish would just go away... the guest host thing is WAY played out already.. the PG rating has turned away alot of the true wrestling fans... but for kids its great... Still enjoy the epic battles that come along the way Michaels/taker, MITB matches are always fun... I dont know.. I just think that mcmahon is more worried about the kids watching (Which im not mad at...hell you have to make your money so i understand it) but to the few of us that have watched wrestling since the 80's & 90's, the product as a whole lacks what we had back then
