okay, what gives? it seems like the Rock is the most popular figure out there when released, and is instantly gobbled up...i'm wondering, why? i mean,i know he was the "Most Electrifying Man in Sports-Entertainment!" ,but why are his figure seemingly more popular than everyone else....
when Entrance Greats 3 came out, my main focus was on Undertaker,as i assumed Taker would be more sought after...boy was i wrong! not only did i NEVER see one in stores (despite finding Taker on 3 different occassions) ,but RSC has him on backorder for awhile, and even other online stores are sold out of him while the other EG's sit there...
Legends 3....it's quite well-documented that he's usually the first figure in the Series to sell out, and many people never saw him in stores...again,he's sold out of a lot of online retailers, and RSC still has him listed for double any of the other Legends 3 figures months after his release, due to the demand...
so,i ask...why are the Rock's figures so sought after?

My guess is because the Rock was just one of those guys you had to watch when you watched WWE or WWF. A lot of times, when you would walk up to someone who would no a little about wrestling, and ask who they associate Wrestling to, their top 3 answers would most likely be Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Rock. TO me, because he is gone from the company, it's likely his figures won't be mass produced in ways like John Cena and Triple H figures will be produced(Although Triple H may not be in it for too much longer). I feel that, like Josh said, it is because of his popularity. During the Attitude Era, The Rock was the guy to watch, whether you liked him or hated him, whether he was a face or a heel, The Rock was the guy to watch. I think Cena is that same way now. Whether people like him or not, you have to watch him, solely because he is, quite literally, good at what he does. I think it is based a lot on his popularity and because The Rock was one of the "true" faces of wrestling entertainment.

He's been the ONLY Mattel figure I have yet to be able to find in stores, and in recent days, I've seen countless full sets of Legends 3. Mr. Perfect is a little harder to find, but at least I've seen it. Hoping to see a Rock today.

yeah, but Cena appeals to the kids ....Rock is more of a collector's -based figure....i mean,i thought AUSTIN would've sold more...and especially Perfect in Series 3,considering he came with the first Mattel Belt...

I think it's because adults buy figures for there kids and to a middle aged person the rock is still the face of wrestling. Unless they're fans they have no idea exactly how far removed he his from current wwe and, even if they're aware that he doesnt actively wrestle, to them, it hasn't been that long. if they put it context of how ling it's been since he wrestled versus how longvtheir kid has been alive they might think twice about buying the fig, but I doubt the stop to consider that.

Its prob. b/c he isnt that long ago. Other Legends figures are from earlier eras where some collectors now don't know or remember them. They fit more into the 30 -40 year old age group. So while you get some collectors in the older age group you have more from the attitude era age group collecting and he was such a big character everyone was a fan. And he is still around with movies so kids see him too.

I still need a Legends 3 Rock. I found an EG Rock and snatched it up...but haven't seen the other. I had an easier time finding Rock figures as a kid(2000-2002) when he wrestled.

Right Now the people buying figures were the 10-16 years olds watching the Rock during the Attitude Era days. Now they are working and the ones buying the figures. I personally believe the Rock had more followers than even Stone Cold. It also doesnt help that when the stores get the sets they may have several of the others but 1 or 2 of the Rock.

He's popular because people like him. I don't know what kind of explanation you're looking for. He's one of the most popular wrestlers of all time, so clearly his figures are going to sell faster than guys who are less popular.
He's the biggest name in the set. People are going to want to buy him more than Bulldog, Vader, Perfect, Duggan, and Hacksaw.
Kids who were little when Rock was wrestling are still buying. So as collectors, when we look for a name like The Rock, we are competing with other adults AND kids. If I want to go find a Hacksaw Jim Duggan figure I could go get one right now because kids aren't buying him, so I'm only competing with other adult collectors.
That's the difference. Some characters kids AND collectors are buying, and others mostly only collectors are buying.

I think the Rock also had quite a female following - when I talk wrestling to girls I know the Rock is always the first person they mention, often followed by some lame ass Peoples Elbow attempt!

At WM they opened a case of Legends 3 for me and the breakdown was 2 Rocks, 2 Bulldogs, 1 Hacksaw and 1 Mr. Perfect. No Vaders or Pillmans. Hopefully this breakdown will help some more people find The Great One!

Hopefully this breakdown will help some more people find The Great One! That actually would be a case because Pillman is an early pegwarmer at the TRU near me that actually has Legends 3. I also have been unable to find EG Rock or Legends 3 Rock, so there are a lot of us in the same boat. Hopefully Mattel will get these figs out on the shelves. And the reason the Rock is so popular is because of all the great films he's been in! Like, uh, well I can't name one, never mind.

Then I realized I'm just two years shy of 30, so maybe you're right Of course, I don't think that's the only reason but it's probably part of it.
