just something i was talking about with RKOwned!!! before...
K-Mart's in this area are overloaded with Macho Man....TRU's with Warrior and Rock....and HHH and The Dragon never went on backorder at RSC....
don't want to label the line a failure yet...but it doesn't really seem to be selling well,at least not around here...only one that consistently sold out was HBK...and,as nice as they look, i don't see Series 3 blowing off shelves either...
don't know if it's the pricepoint,or the selection,or the looks/attires chosen, but it's not doing well...can this series survive the rest of the year? or will it fall to the wayside like Entrance Greats?

If it is failing on the retail level, I think Mattel should consider putting this line on the mattycollector.com website. I personally love these figs, and would hate to see them go away.

Personally, I really hope they stick around. While a good number of the guys that they've picked haven't appealed to me, the series as a whole has some of the best figures ever produced.

The collector's market is not large enough to put a dent into the retail scene, where Mattel makes the bulk of their money. The price point, while I find fair at $22.99 is too high for mass retail customer to pay. They dont care about cloth accessories, stands, neat packaging, etc. All they want is the figure.

They've been selling very well in Buffalo, from what I've found ... don't stay on the shelves long. I really hope they stick around because they're by far my favorite figs produced by Mattel.

The price point, while I find fair at $22.99 is too high for mass retail customer to pay. I agree with this and it's what's keeping me from buying them. I just can't justify myself spending $23 + tax on a single fig even with all the accessories. When they come down in price places which I'm sure they will eventually at certain retailers then I will pick some up.

And not to sound like a DM apologist or anything, but you've got to think that Mattel knows that these aren't going to be flying off the shelves at $23 a pop. They're one of the biggest toy companies in the world for a reason. As long as there's a steady stream of sales and they're not complete peg-warmers like the EGs or HOF figs were, they're probably making out well in the end (there has to be a pretty good profit margin on a $23 figure).

$22.99 is a high price to pay for one figure, especially when there are so many other choices. on top of that $25.99 (TRU's price) is absurd.
$19.99 would be the perfect price point for DM figures, but since everything else in the country is going up and will continue to go up, i'm ok with the $22.99. I think if they keep making the big stars & cool gear they will sell and survive awhile.

Sure hope so. I love this line. Much better than the Entrance Greats IMO.

Defining moments is selling well here on the Los Angeles area also. The only ones I see the most are Macho Mans and thats only at Kmarts. Targets around here have been geeting series#2 and they go FAST. So it all depends were you live. I do belive they OVER produced Macho Man the same way they OVER produced Legends series one Steamboat and others.

The price is high for just one figure. It may be, but I keep most of my DM's inthe box (took Shawn out as it was the first one I bought and regret it).

Here in the NY area I had a hard time finding steamboat and jake, but Dusty, Terry Funk, Brian Pillman, and to a lesser extent Rick Rude, have been warming pegs around here for months.

At my TRU they're warming up shelves especially since the price is absurd ( now $30+tax), while at another they're selling well.. Don't get me wrong, they're great figures but even $23 at Target is too much. I had to pass on Warrior when I saw the price at TRU, so for now I have to wait for Target to get him.... I'd rather pay $23 than $30 any day.

They need to send a few more our way to England then. We constantly get ripped off with the higher end figures.

I think the line is destined to struggle at mass retail. I just don't think the market is there for it, and on the whole, the figures aren't much better than elites. The average fan/consumer isn't going to spend so much extra money on a figure just because it has an oversized, ill-fitting cloth jacket or jeans. Hell, a good number of standard elite and legend figures have that stuff anyway.
