The price point, while I find fair at $22.99 is too high for mass retail customer to pay. I agree with this and it's what's keeping me from buying them. I just can't justify myself spending $23 + tax on a single fig even with all the accessories. When they come down in price places which I'm sure they will eventually at certain retailers then I will pick some up. not to mention everyone in the line is also available in elite or legends line so it seems a bit silly to spend the extra cash. its selling terribly around here and i honestly see it going the way of Entrance Greats.

They're selling moderately well where I live. Entrance Greats tanked around here, too.

None of us really have any idea how well they are selling so offering an opinion on the subject is pure speculation.

just something i was talking about with RKOwned!!! before... K-Mart's in this area are overloaded with Macho Man....TRU's with Warrior and Rock....and HHH and The Dragon never went on backorder at RSC.... don't want to label the line a failure yet...but it doesn't really seem to be selling well,at least not around here...only one that consistently sold out was HBK...and,as nice as they look, i don't see Series 3 blowing off shelves either... don't know if it's the pricepoint,or the selection,or the looks/attires chosen, but it's not doing well...can this series survive the rest of the year? or will it fall to the wayside like Entrance Greats? My 2cents.... I think you may be pressing the "panic button" a bit premature. However, If DM4 doesn't sell well then I think it's time to worry. I think it depends on the area you are in because aside from Macho Man being overstocked to the hilt at Kmart I havent seen more then 2 of any figure at TRU or Target. And HBK is pretty easy to find in my area, I also think DM2 is selling well or maybe they didn't produce as many? I also agree that the price point is hard for the kids/"casual collector" to shell out when every wrestler has been produced in another cheaper line. That said I think so far they've selected really good choices for the line. .....that said if they discontinue the DM line I may go back + pick up the rest of them as it is a really nice set of figures to keep MOC and with only 8 figures easier to afford knowing it's only 6 more figs to add to complete an entire line.

My KMart probably has 9 Macho Man DM figures right now, and my TRU has about 5 Warriors and 4 Rocks. No HBK to be seen.

DM is a great line and a great idea for the older collector to feel nostalgic and could have a future if they didn't go overboard on ordering. I pre-ordered DM Savage months ago thinking he would be difficult to find and that hasn't been the case at all.
Also like everyone else on here has been saying, the price is so different all over the place that it makes it a line that is easy to pass up. Most stores near me have them price at $25.99 or more! The cheapest price I seen was $22.99.
It's more than 1 problem that is holding this line back. They have given us a good selection so far so I hope they don't fall to the wayside

its still very early to speculate, Mattel had the impression they were going to pick up where Jakks success with legends left off. Ive seen a few of these 'are they gonna continue?' threads and i think what made it so shaky is that mattel didnt realize it would take a lot of collectors a few series before they would cave in. I Have watched mattel legends since series 1, but didnt finally cave in till i seen series 5. And i keep seeing threads every week about people finally quitting their jakks collection for mattel or just deciding they want to collect legends figures all of a sudden.
i agree dm's are expensive but they are well worth it , where i live there are 2 wal marts, 1 tru and a zellers. 1 walmart is completely legends sold out and they had a HUGE shipment of legends 3 and 4 not long ago ... the other one has 4 orndorffs, tru has 2 packs 1, a few series 2 , and 1 DM micheals, and zellers, not a popular store here has 1 dm hbk and 2 dm savage's
i think mattels popularity goes up with every series, and i think DM's will do better as the legend line gets better

They need to cool it with the damn boxes because that makes it cost more.
Essentially, there is NO DIFFERENCE in the quality of the figure or accessories in an Elite or Defining Moment figure.
Legends, Elite and Defining Moments figures are the SAME THING.....an Elite style figure. They should ALL be the same price.
Plus, there are only TWO Defining Moments figures per series. So if they can afford to give Elite 4 John Morrison a coat of THAT DETAIL in a set containing SIX figures, then they should be able to afford to give us top notch quality accessories in a TWO figure series.
Why Defining Moments is $22.99 most places and almost $30 at TRU makes NO SENSE. It should be $14.99.

legends in canada are 20 and dm are about 30 , but that makes a lot of sense.... they should just come in legends packing at the same price

I agree that they should definitely drop the price. And if that means they have to tone down the packaging, which I'd rather they not, I'd understand. But I really like this line and it's potential.

Warrior and Ricky are the only ones that really stand out in that aspect to me though.

DM is certainly the best place for debut figures, IMO. It was very smart to start this line off with Macho Man, despite him warming a few shelves out there. I believe it would be smart on Mattel's part to make Bret Hart's first figure a DM figure, because alot of people willl justify the price with it being his first Mattel figure and all. They need to release these less and less oer year, as well. Nearly 3 sets out, and we're JUST NOW hitting the 4th month of the year?? These sets should be one every 4 months, IMO. It would lessen up clogging, and help people justify the price slightly moresince they won't be buying these figures every 2 months at such a big price.

I am going to grab the Ricky Steamboat, and I don't mind paying $23 for it because I think the detail is extra awesome, but largely they are the same figures, especially to the non-collector market. One just comes in fluffier packaging. Price points are everything right now and that will always be the bottom line with Mattel until the economy really turns around. Entrance Greats still remains my favorite line from Mattel to-date, and I do have a nearly equal amount of love for DMs. However, EGs struggled at $20 a pop and even had the non-collector friendly base to add some on-shelf incentive to buy with the entrance music. DMs doesn't even have that and is clearly targeted at collectors, with the edition of an even higher price point. I just don't see how DMs can succeed until consumer spending really increases because the collector market alone isn't going to be able to keep the line alive imo. I think Even if they could get them down to $20 they would move better.

I passed on Legends Rock because I was going to get the DM one. Once I saw the pics on here that the only real difference was the clothing I couldn't justify the extra $8 on pants and a jacket I would never use. Same with Macho and HHH figures. For me the line was a good idea but I was hoping for figures like Warrior, the Dragon, Piper so they could come with the detail and extras that couldn't be offered in a regular Legends figure. Might get the Austin but the Undertaker is an easy pass. So for me I am likely to get 2 of the first 8.

I think it will survive if they stop producing them in a large quantities. I feel they should be more rare. Every time I go somewhere they bottom shelfs are just swamped with LOTS of them. Went to toys r us the other day and i counted 20 ultimate warriors and 13 rocks. Think it would even help if they made them an exclusive somewhere. I honestly think target would be a good store to make it an exclusive. Definitely not toys r us cause as we all know their exclusives are wayyyy over priced!

They need to send a few more our way to England then. We constantly get ripped off with the higher end figures. You're right there mate. Would kill to see these at retail over here! Add me to that list. The thing for me is if were paying so much they should come with a new headsculpt. I didn't buy The Rock as I had Legends 3 and could not justify spending so much on accessories alone. If he had a new head I'd have bought him in a heartbeat! Shawn Michaels again had the same head as the Elite3&7... Triple H's denim stuff didn't look good to me so I didn't bother. May get him later but I don't think they did that good of a job this time with the accessories. As for DM 4 I don't much like the Undertaker figure. The Stone Cold has a nice jacket and hat but....not sure it's worth the money...Especcially in the UK at $35 The Macho Man & Steamboat are Fantastic though. I have Ultimate Warrior too are he's great too.

Really, I can never find any of them around here. the EG figures were the ones that took up space, Piper, and Trips were Shelf Warmers. but the others i never seen.
Give it time. i would keep them at the same price point, i would just limit how much gets ordered. there is no reasoin for a store to order five boxes of DM. it should be two, and they have to wait until the others sell out before reordering them.
There are waaaay too many other superstars that i can think of, that would be great as DM.
