wii.ign.com/articles/116/1161875p1.htmlAccording to multiple reports today, Nintendo will reveal a new console at E3 this coming June.
Game Informer first reported that the console is capable of running games at "HD resolutions." Our sources have said the the console is significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and that Nintendo's intent is to recapture the hardcore market. Another source said it is capable of 1080p resolutions.
Nintendo is reportedly showing the console to publishers to garner interest for a late 2012 launch.
Additional sources tell IGN that Nintendo will release a pre-announcement this month with a full reveal expected at E3 and that the console will be backwards compatible with current Wii software.I think at the very least Nintendo will say at E3 that "We haven't forgotten about the home market" and we will get an announcement of some sort. It may not be specs or hard info, but something is better than nothing in my opinion. If this new console is indeed more powerful graphically than the PS3 and 360, would that win back a lot of you gamers out there that have strayed away from Nintendo this gen? It sounds like Nintendo is trying to win back the hardcore market if this is indeed true. Thoughts?

Well, I'm betting that whatever Nintendo announces won't be released until next year, and it wouldn't shock me to see Microsoft have a console ready to go in 2012, too.
In any event, I've been burned by the last two Nintendo consoles to have anything more than a passing interest in what they're doing.

In any event, I've been burned by the last two Nintendo consoles to have anything more than a passing interest in what they're doing. That's fair. I mean I've been pretty loyal to Nintendo despite essentially being screwed over as a hardcore gamer over the past two consoles, which is why I cracked and bought a PS3 (something I swore I would never do 10 years ago). Nonetheless, if Nintendo released a console that supported full 1080p resolution, I would imagine that we would see many 360 and PS3 ports come their way anyway and we would still get the odd great first party game from them every 8 months or so.

I'm a Nintendo Fan Boy at heart (but I own a PS3 and X360 too) so this great news.

Nintendo has yet to release a console I haven't enjoyed, I'm sure this will be no different. It'll be nice to finally have Nintendo enter the wonderful world of HD. Also, if they want to appeal to the hardcore audience I imagine that they're going to have a solid plan for online gaming. Friend codes and things of that nature just don't cut it. People want a more personalized rewarding experience.

The Wii just about completely drove me away from Nintendo. Other than the Mario Galaxy games and one or two others, I hardly ever even bought any Wii games because I hated the whole gimmick to it. It just looked/felt so forced in so many games.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what comes of this.

I can't wait but I hope they don't screw their loyal fans over by not letting them port their Virtual Console games onto the new machine.

WOW! This seems really close to the Wii. Thought there would have been more time in between.

Guys, some new info was released today over at ign.com again. Here's the article: wii.ign.com/articles/116/1162045p1.htmlNew details have surfaced from yesterday's reports that Nintendo is set to unveil its newest console, codenamed "Project Cafe."
According to our sources, the new Nintendo controller will feature dual analog sticks in addition to standard d-pad and trigger buttons. It'll mirror a Gamecube controller in general function but not in specific form.
French website 01.net has published additional details (via Develop), that say the touch capable screen on the controller is 6 inches in size, but we were unable to confirm the accuracy of the report. Additional details about the console's hardware specs could also not be confirmed.
Players will actually be able to stream game content to the controller screen from the console. It's unclear at this time what type of content it will be, whether it's full games you can take with you on the go, mini-games or applications.
At E3 in June, our sources also said Nintendo will show first and third party titles at the event, but it's unsure if they'll be playable or only in video form.An LCD touch screen on the controller?

I was going nuts about this last night. I'm always hyped-up about E3...but this pretty much brought it to an all-time high. And now the "Project Cafe" news just makes it even better.
It's so good to finally see them step into HD, I just hope to see that it has some sort of a bigger memory supply.....AND PLEASE NINTENDO.......BETTER ONLINE!

How the hell much is each individual controller going to cost, then? That thing sound advanced.
I am super excited for Wii's successor; Wii's been one of my favorite Nintendo platforms. Started out kinda slow but the past 2 years of the console were quite solid. It definitely has aged quicker than the HD consoles though, so another new console in a year and a half sounds good to me. It would be really fantastic if they could make the next console output the Wii games at a higher resolution. It's been done with emulators, and games like Galaxy and Other M look unreal with it.

If they do, they best bring out a game like Pokemon XD or Colosseum. If they do announce a new game that is like the mainstream series the console will be an insta-buy

If they do announce a new game that is like the mainstream series the console will be an insta-buy I believe I read online a few weeks back that there is already a new Pokemon game in development that is reminiscent of XD and Colosseum. However, it was confirmed by developers that it will be released on Wii.

I think the next Smash Bros will be on the 3DS. They've yet to put the franchise on a portable, and it seems like the 3D would work well for when a character gets thrown off screen and things like that. I think the Mario Party series is done now, so that opens up a door for it.

I love the new system just by the sound of it. I'm glad they're going back to controllers. The remote is cool but I don't want it to become a permanent fixture in gaming. It's about damn time Nintendo went HD, too. The Wii graphics were pretty good for an SD system. The new ones will be sick.
