Sorry I know there was some chatter about the possibility of the legends line ending. Did we ever get confirmation? I ask because today I stopped at Wal Mart looking for L5. I saw Bam Bam, Model, and Akeem but no Macho, then this guy was like you looking for Macho, I said yeah. He said here take mine. I thought that was really cool. He said he knew someone at Mattel and he can get one anytime. We talked for a few about figures and he said his contact at Mattel confirmed the end of the legend line after series 6. He said they may do "special" legends lines in the future for like the hall of fame but as a regular series it will be no more.
Anyone else here anything?

FYI we are now at the point of the year where we are a little sparse in leaking out all the good info due to wanting to make a big newsworthy splash at SDCC. However I can announce that myself (Bill , the balding one, not my boss also named Bill) and Derek of the WWE design team will be guests of WWE on their live webchat this Monday during Raw, where we will be offering a sneak peek at an as of yet unrevealed mix coming up soon. A little nugget to hold everyone over for the big meal in July hopefully. Thanks and hope to see you all online during Raw Monday. Bill thats the latest info we've heard from mattel. before that it was "sales of the legends line have been terrible" post. that's about it. so nobody really knows whats going on yet.

Always love to hear the latest figure news from random figure shoppers. I remember when someone at TRU had a Jakks RA figure with just the "Chase the belt" sticker on it, and he swore up and down that it was a 1/500 and wouldn't even listen to reason. Hope he enjoyed that random figure (forget exactly who it was), probably one of those idiots who sells them as "chase" figures on ebay.

It's not done. They said they are holding all news and lineups close to their chest now because SDCC is a month away and they want to have info at SDCC. They do it every year with the DC lines hold info/lineups until SDCC. That's where they like to debut things. If the line was done they wouldn't say there will be an announcent at SDCC. Again sales have been bad with every Mattel DC line since they took over in 2003/04 and almost every one of them went on one way or another for a long time.
First there was DCSH which went up to Series 9 before turning into DCUC which is up to Series 18. But they've been saying sales were poor since day one.
JL/JLU was another line that was suppose to be in trouble and went to a Target exclusive...Then when the cartoon ended it because a Matty.com exclusive and then back to Target & TRU. But that line is actually ending this year. But that was a line that lasted 7 years with so called poor sales.
We will still see the Legends one way or another

thanks pj i hate even thinking the line could be over with how Ace the figures are Ditto. If the line is cancelled, you'll see this thirtysomething cry like a baby... If it comes to the very worst-case scenerio and the regular line is cancelled, I think we'll still get various exclusives and new Defining Moments released (2 a series), every few months. So all the "main" guys (Bret, Diesel, Razor, Yokozuna etc.) will be released one way or another...

If it was canceled they would come out and say it. They wouldn't wait until SDCC to announce they're canceling the line.

I don't think it is done for the moment. I also think it is stupid to think that they would be announcing the cancellation of a line at a major event like SDCC. I can however see that the line maybe stopped later in the year. I believe that Defining Moments is where the future lies for Legends based figures. Most of these types of lines are aimed at the adult collector. The adult collector is happy to pay a higher price for a higher end product. Hence Defining Moments. I can see them moving to 16 - 20 figures per year of Defining Moments. But I also believe this will commence from 2012. I think we will see Series 7, 8 and maybe even 9 of the Legends line (end of 2011). Then it will be gone. Could be completely wrong. lol

It's all speculation either way. We won't know if it's cancelled or not until Mattel either says it's over or we get lineups/protos for series 7. Nobody on here knows for sure one way or the other.

I don't think it's canceled but I think they will insert 1 or 2 to add to the Elite series. They will be doing what McFarlane is doing with football legends in regular football lines.

Yeah, I guess there isn't enough collectors who like athletes who competed over 15 years ago. Out of the four major American sports only baseball continues with a Legends (HOF) line. Football legends, as you said, will be mixed with current players. Hockey already started this several series ago, which is turning into a Gretzky of the month. Basketball is in limbo. Now wrestling maybe in trouble.
