Ok so i guess We Seen Everything Now and it has left a Bitter Taste in my mouth. I Was really hoping for that Big Splash to be in the Legends Pool but All in All we didnt get too wet! I Know Some would Argue that Were gonna get the same amount of Legends Anyway and that is Great , Im Not Done With LEgends Yet, And I Guess Neither Is Mattel, But The Lack of Legends News Has set me off. I Was Hoping they would have at least Told us Who was in DM 6 and who they had planned for future Flashbacks to Get us Excited Or at least show some kind of All Stars Assortment with New Legends or Repaints.... Personally Im not Happy with the Pick 5 of 17 Choices, I think next year Mattel will State that Sales of Matty.com Excl were Poor and the Online Excl will be canceled. Obvs, Andre and the Rockers will do well but i think the rest are'nt really a big deal. Its hard to say they are C stars or Not as Popular these days because they're can be lots of arguments made. With the 17 Picked, Some will Buy One, Some Wont..... I Just Dont See them Being a Huge hit so i Hope mattel plans accordingly either way cuz i want more legends for a long time Im Looking Forward to Crush and King Kong Bundy and Even Doink..... other than that... OMG , Elizabeth or Farooq are figs i might buy.... the others dont interest me but i would probably get a few of them I Know theres Still a Q + A today and im really Hoping Mattel Can Give us some info on Legends Signings or Plans for Flashbacks Or an alternate series.... Anyhow, I bought Bret , Shango and Kane but i feel like i waited 6 months for half of what i should have waited 2 months for.... i couldnt even pre-order a whole series .... anyways, maybe im bitching a lot, I Love Legends Figures.... And i waited months for this big splash , i would at least like to hear some names What do you guys think? and Remember Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you’re a mile away and you have their shoes.

I disagree that the Legends in the poll aren't a big deal. Elizabeth has never been realeased and she's a Top 10 want for most. Others like Farooq and Vega are also never released characters. And among those that have been released I think Mattel can do a much better job on them as compared to JAKKS. I'm excited to see which get chosen and which added legends are in elite. I know, I'm a glass-half-full kind of guy.

I'm not happy that I'll have to pay a premium to get Legends from Matty Collector. I am glad that the line will still be around, though, and like the idea of Flashbacks in the Elite line.

I am not happy at all with the list the have to vote on. There are 3 TOPS, and only one definite (Andre) I will be getting from Matty, and that's only if the other 2 get voted in. To me, the list is very lack luster. However, I am excited that they are experimenting with basic style legends in the heritage series' again. I wish they had someone a little cooler than Rock in the first (technically second) series with a Legend. We already have a bunch of Rocks, AND they already made him in basic style.

I not 100% pleased with these choices but hey that's the way it's gonna be and I'll take it because Legends is still going on! I want Liz so much, so classic and we gotta have her to go with Macho Man and the others are really good too!
Like I said before, I really can't believe this but really MattyCollector.com seems to be a good home for the WWE Legends I mean look what else is here, MOTUC, GB, Voltron, DC and more, it's classic city!
Don't forget, you can vote EVERYDAY until August 12th and possibly (hopefully) WWE Legends will expand later on MattyCollector.com

I am not sure if it is accepting my votes, but it is letting me vote numerous times this morning. If it is a glitch, you should try to take advantage of that to get in your votes!
I agree that there was much less Legend showings than I thought. My guess is that the line did even worse than they let on.

Personally I grew up with the NWA, so of that list of 17 I'm voting for Arn, Tully, Barry, Magnum, and Ted DiBiase (old school mid-south).
Other than that, the list is lackluster. JYD, OMG, Bundy, Muraco, Liz, and Tito round out the 80s WWF guys which I may or may not get.

I am not surprised the direction the line took. With retail sales being what they are, I am just glad the line is still alive. It can be a pain getting on the site to order but it's what we have to do so I will deal with it.
I also like the idea of including Legends in the other lines. I am not a huge fan of basic but if its a guy I have been wanting, and it looks good, I will buy it anyway. As long as the legends keep coming, I will be happy.
My only real letdown is with the list of figures we can vote on. There are some great names on there, and I would buy almost everyone, but I was hoping for more. I guess we will just have to wait and see. I am sure the have more guys coming that they haven't told us about yet.

was hoping to actually SEE some more legends figures, especially DDP.
we'd already seen andre and the rockers. so the only new ones we saw was shango, kane, bret, and gooker. pretty disappointing IMO.

I'm hoping the basic-style "Legends" Mattel spoke of will be guys like Rock, Austin, and past versions of current wrestlers that are included in the Heritage sets.
We already have multiple versions of those few wrestlers, we don't need them taking up any more precious Legends slots.

I'm disappointed that Legends won't be available at retail anymore. I'll buy the Elite Flashbacks, but I'll collect those loose as they likely won't fit in with my MOC collection.
As far as Matty Legends go, I feel like the poll is more symbolic than anything. Last time I checked, you could vote as often and for as many as you wanted. Also, the lack of a "view results" button is peculiar. I feel like Mattel is going to make whoever they want whenever they want and pass it off as "fan choice."
And remember: Your biggest competition on Matty Sale day will likely be online retailers.
With that being said, I hope the Legends line is successful enough to get its own subscription.

First unless they change the way they run Matty collectors I feel it's a fail. They always release everything at noon eastern on the 15th of every month. And come noon the site always crashes. And you end up on a "Holding" page for anywhere up to an hour hoping the items you want haven't sold out by the time the site finally opens. Last year I actually had items in my cart sell out by the time I made it to the checkout screen. So I was there for an hour only to get nothing when I finally got to the checkout page.
I think the subscriptions have helped with traffice. But if they do offer it for the WWE the membership will be aynywhere from $20 - $40 which would guarnatee you the figures I wouldn't mind except for the fact that you have to have a credit card on file because they don't accept PP. Plus you have to get every figure and that's where my big issue is for the first year. Because the first years will be the fans choice picks. And right now judging from these unofficial polls on this site DDP, Doink & Vega are leading the way. None of those are figures I would ever want on my display shelves! So with the membership for the first year I'd have to spend a membership fee and $20 - $30 each on 3 figures I have no desire to own. That's just not practical.
Next let's talk about the "Official Choices" I feel all 17 will be made whether it's the "Top 5" or Flashbacks in the Elite & heritage lines, but I do have an issue with the fans picking. Because as I've said before True Legends like Backlund & Pedro didn't even make this list from the last vote they had were this top 17 names came from. Yet people picked Doink, Vega & DDP all of which don't even rate as Legends in my book. Again if you look at the unofficial polls on this site so far and those three are the top vote getters! Really?!
Of the 17 names here's how I'd rank them in order of importance to me- Top 5 - Muraco Snuka (had in Series 2 but should be so much better) Santana Windham Arn
Next 5 would be - Tully (would be higher if there was an official Flair) Magnum Elizabeth Bundy OMG
After that would be - JYD M$M (already had the EG so that's why he's so low for me) Demolition Crush Farooq
The rest of the list (DDP, Doink, Vega) I'd pass on as I didn't find them the least bit entertaining. Hell, I felt DDP had very little ring skills yet he was forced down our thoats when in WCW.
But I guess we'll see what happens.

My main disappointment was only..
Why Andre the Giant counted as one of the 6 legends for 2012??!! He was already announced long time ago and we Should have a total of 6 NEW legends but they tricked us with only 5 for 2012. Andre and Rockers should be already released in 2011 before handling over to Matty.
Not fair

I wonder what that extra UPC 2 pack is everyone thought was the rockers

Next to them cancelling the line completely, it's pretty much the worst thing they could have done.
6 figures a year... now online only? and not even through Ringside!! Awful. Awful. Awful. Awful.
They really couldn't produce say 2 sets of 4 per year to release at retail? I think it's a lazy strategy overall and a piss poor effort to keep the line going.
I'm looking forward to the Elite "throwback" figures and the basic style legends figures though.

I was very disappointed with the Legends announcements and here's why:
1. Fewer figures per year 2. The figures we will get will cost more (we now have to pay to have them shipped) 3. If you've never dealt with Matty Collector before, you have no idea how frustrating it is. 4. These might sell out quickly (lots of WWE collectors + scalpers) and people will have to rely on scalper's inflated prices on eBay to get the figures they want.
I've only been buying select Mattel Legends figures to use their heads on Jakks bodies. At $17ish (after tax) it sucks but I'm still do it. I'm sure these will be in the $25ish range now when you factor in shipping. That's too much for me.

I can't say I'm looking forward to the "flashback" figures, but if I understand correctly, that just means current roster debut figures correct? Example would be debut Kane right? Other than the Undertaker, every "flashback" figure will be from the attitude era - sorry I already got Rock & Austin so my quota is met.
I can live with my custom Ric Flair, so I'm praying against all hope that Arn, Tully, and Barry make it to retail/matty.
I used to collect MOTUC and the MattyCollector.com website stopped my love for that line DEAD. Like PJ I used to sit there for hours, then two months in a row I'm about to pay at checkout only to not have it go through because it was sold out....WTF, every other online retailer gives you a grace period if an item is in your cart!!! Ugh my blood is boiling thinking back on those experiences.
The only good thing is that the WWE toyline is not nearly as popular as MOTUC, therefore they might still have these items in stock.

I don't want to say luckily but that seems to be the best word, so I will. Luckily for me, I'm not a legends collector unless it's someone really famous or an attitude era person. So this doesn't affect me. Hopefully the flashbacks are good selections in the future; like ABA Undertaker, Kevin Nash, Booker T, HBK, HHH, Rock, Austin, Edge, Christian, Jericho etc.

Other than the Undertaker, every "flashback" figure will be from the attitude era - sorry I already got Rock & Austin so my quota is met. If that was the case, we wouldn't have gotten Papa Shango. I'm thinking this is just a way to differentiate the Legends from the regular Elites without having to designate them as "Legends" when there is already another line with that name. Perhaps this is just an outlet to release the ones they know for sure will perform well at retail. At least, I really hope that's the case. I'd imagine Mattel wants to get the good out of their contracts with Warrior, Savage, Bret, etc., and I can't imagine figures like Diesel being Matty Collector exclusives. If the Flashback figures are all from the Attitude era, I'm done with Mattel, which is a shame, because they make better wrestling figures than any other company ever has.
