...the legends line is not botched just over shipped... Did Mattel just admit they misread the market? Maybe Legends should have been some kind of limited exclusive, only sold at one or two stores? I don't know how many figures might be sitting in warehouses but to me L4 & L5 seemed to have a more proper distribution level than the first three (overproduced) series. I bet Legends 1-3 outshipped the last 3 Star Wars, GI Joe and DCUC waves combined.

Mattel flat out lies about the whoever gets tv time gets a figure thing! Because if this was true then we would of had the one person who has the most tv time than anyone on tv...someone that is better than the rest..... That man you ask is....Justin Roberts! I WANT A JUSTIN ROBERTS FIGURE!!!!!! Im not going to give up on this? Remember mattel if you make him, they will come!

I really thank Mattel for coming in here and reading AND responding to our concerns. They are spot on with this too. I think if Legends sells well online, we have a good chance of seeing them back in stores. Maybe Mattel will just make the bigger names and cut out the less popular/flashy guys. After reading what Mattel has to say, i fully understand why they do the things they do and the order they do them in.

Question 2# how many pcs do you think we should be running of an average Legends figure?

How is it that Mattel responds multiple times to this but not the 9 page thread that is actually important about how the legends poll is broken and being abused?

I bet Legends 1-3 outshipped the last 3 Star Wars, GI Joe and DCUC waves combined. And how many pieces of each fig do you think that was? Question 2# how many pcs do you think we should be running of an average Legends figure? Well of course nobody on the outside knows the exact number. First off all the major retailers were on board at the start. Second the Kmart HOF promotion was a huge mistake. It really only added to the quantity of figures on the market. I don't know what you guys were thinking with series 3. The amount of pieces put on the market rivaled a movie toy line release. If you followed Jakks, really only two stores mattered, TRU & KB. The other stores were minor outlets for WWE product. Did Mattel think Target, Walmart, and Kmart shoppers were going to become huge consumers of WWE Legends figures. Guess what, the product actually had some decent turnover but then the floodgates opened. I don't think you can deny Mattel produced at higher numbers than Jakks. Was Jakks sales numbers available to you. I'm not inside the industry. I have a feeling Jakks shipped 2-3 cases to each KB & TRU in my area. There were times Jakks had eight or nine figures in a wave. Many were packed as singles. They did that because 5 figures per wave created a glut. If Legends were a collector line, there should have been some fear in not obtaining them. Much like the early days of the DCUC line when Mattel was creating hysteria among the fans. Bill, its 3am esd. You know I love you. I complain because I care. Edit, if Bill is still reading this: My guess at how many should be made is 2500 - 8000 depending on wrestler.

People really need to take those Q&As with a grain of salt. It's more than one person answering questions, and plans change constantly. As they should.

Legends was overshipped but it also didn't help matters that from series 1 4 figures were part of the Kmart Hall of Fame and 2 were from series 2. Austin and Jake Roberts were the hot sellers out of the 3 assts. Series 3 shipped heavily because it was a holiday item, but you see a fewpieces here and there mostly Pillman. series 4 was picked up Walmart and Kmart and sell pretty well and 5 was TRU and Walmart and sold pretty well. The online guys are a different breed for Mattel but it seems like Ringside does well with the line.
Bill, you definitly covered most of the roster a year and a half in but we need 9-10 stars that are lower card not on tv. heres how it could be handled
2 packs Husky Harris & Michael McGuillicutty Mason Ryan and CM Punk Brodus Clay and Alberto Del Rio in street clothes
Maybe from basic 13-18 insert these 1 per series or every other set at 1 per case or pull a move like Jakks did with Far east and make an internet exclusive pack with the weak sellers but manufacture to order ie a Matty Ringside exclusive pre-order that needs to hit a certain peak to be made even at a 45.00 price point then everyones happy. the first year there was about 115 different stars produced which was awesome.
Curt Hawkins Tyler Reks Jinder Mahal Trent Barreta Ricardo Rodriguez
longshots as heritage figures 1 per case for Striker
Booker T in wrestling gear Jerry Lawler wrestling gear Matt Striker in wrestling gear Diesel

In all fairness to Mattel, they lost a lot of my respect when they told us that their goal was a complete roster... and instead we got the Gobbledy Gooker, a totally botched Legends line, Flex Force and Rumblers. So, in other words, they thought it was a good idea to give us perhaps the lamest, most underwhelming character (that would be high cost/low interest) ever over guys that would actually sell (low cost/low risk.) Don't even get me started on the Legends line. How that was botched so badly makes me wonder if Mattel has accountability at the higher levels of their management. Although, they've given us the best wrestling figures ever made so I will still buy and support their product. Talk about a catch 22. It's like fast food. They're bad to us, but the food tastes so good that we keep coming back for more. [/quote ]You havent gotten the gooker yet, the legends line is not botched just over shipped , and Flex force and Rumblers are hot, selling extremely well and are targeted to by far our largest market,KIDS!! As far as accountability goes the WWE line has been a huge success overall. So, the only accountability issues we currently face is justifying collector only focused product that sells to under 5% of our total market. Having said all of that, believe me, we think the collector market is important and we fight every day to continue to support it in the biggest way possible, but our business is toys. I hope y'all can keep these things in perspective as you discuss these issues. We are on your side. Thanks Bill, I just have one question about the collector market you mentioned, you gave us a list of 17 guys to choose from.... and said we could vote as many times as we wanted...... Is there anything being done to ensure One Person cant sit on the vote button all day and spam votes? It would kind of go completely against the idea of voting for who might be most successful for yourselves and us collectors no? Also , is All Stars 2 being made?

If Mattel can make us a Hawkins and Barreta, and of course make the distribution in Canada better, then I will shut up.

If Yoshi Tatsu gets an Elite figure and a Basic figure.... Curt Hawkins and Trent Baretta should also get a figure. I mean really, when is the last time Yoshi was on RAW or Smackdown? Baretta has been on there just as much as Yoshi Tatsu. ..and Chris Masters has a figure too? They have made 2 Primo figures... I barely remember what that guy looks like. lol. I'm not complaining... it just doesn't make sense. Yoshi was on ECW all the time and most fans remember him from that. also if you don't watch Superstars you aren't a big WWE fan in my opinion.

I agree that Nexus was a huge part of RAW for a while... But Superstars was on for longer than that and Rekks and Baretta and those guys were on there gettin TV time and no figs... I was just sayin how the Mattel TV exposure thing is a lil flawed and scewed IMO Comparing Raw with Superstars is ridiculous. No one cared about Superstars, and no one watched it. I'm pretty sure like a million and a half people a week used to watch Superstars on WGN counting the replay. Additionally, he wasn't comparing Superstars with Raw he was comparing the length of time guys are showcased on Superstars with the length of the Nexus angle, which was honestly over hyped and seems to have gone away quickly. Not only is your reading comprehension poor but your opinion is just flat out wrong. Unless of course your definition of "no one" starts around 3 million viewers or so...

Nexus was the biggest storyline in WWE for several months. Tyler Reks could wrestle for a decade on Superstars and it still wouldn't even scrape the surface of how big the Nexus story was at the time. In summer 2010, when the Nexus figures were planned, every kid who watches Raw would've killed for Nexus figures to fight against their Cenas, Reys, etc. Only about four people have ever wanted a Tyler Reks, and three of those only want it because they think they might be able to customise a Road Dogg head from it. Remember, folks, we're collecting children's toys here. The main WWE line has to sell to more kids than just us nerds. I hope y'all can keep these things in perspective as you discuss these issues. I hate to rob you of that hope, Bill, but c'mon, you've read this board before. There's more chance of everyone talking Russian than developing a sense of perspective. Борьба!

Bill, Like I said before... you guys have a lot to be proud of in terms of the quality of the figures. We're demanding fans/collectors. We aren't afraid to voice our opinions. You and your team have delivered one hell of a product to us. For that, we'll always be in your debt.
I just get frustrated with some of the doublespeak/contradictory actions we seem to get around from Mattel. I'll just agree to disagree with you on certain items.
The bottom line is this. We like your work. We like your hussle. We appreciate the hands-on approach you take to answering our questions. We appreciate the next evolutionary step you've made for wrestling figures. We don't need to have everything we ask for as we're a smaller niche of the overall consumer pool... I get that... but LISTEN to us and don't try to fool us. We are the customer, and I believe the customer is always right. I'm also confused as to why the design team is the group that responds to our concerns. I'd expect some PR person to be doing that. Thanks.

So, the only accountability issues we currently face is justifying collector only focused product that sells to under 5% of our total market. Okay so you made to many Legends 1,2 and 3 figures because you either over estimated the market place or needed to move that many pieces to retain the profit margin. Good thing kids make up 95% of your audience as the basic figures have the articulation of bricks (which is why they can be sold for less than any other 6 inch figure). What doesn't make sense to me is you know the "collectors" market is so small and you have a special store to cater to that market so why not use it more often. If You can make the MotU figures a visible collector's series through the internet why not use it to make truly great figures instead of the cheaply produced mass retail figures we get.

Besides, I'm very glad that bill is answering most of our questions. A PR would only bs you are the most.
