If you think people work at Mattel to become millionaires, then you sir are an idiot. The design team are just like us, working so just a 1 rich fat white dude gets even richer. MDT are just meeting deadlines and budgets they are being told to meet. WE are just lucky that they are passionate about giving us a quality product both sides can be happy with . it's just some of you are not happy at all, ever. |

With that being said I wish they would cut costs with the other accessories and not the belts. If Miz didn't come with a briefcase and instead got a shiny belt I would prefer that. Screw that. We already got a shiny belt. Miz is the only chance for a red MITB case so far (although we may get an Alberto with one this time next year). |

Before I voice my opinion on the topic at hand, I would like to say that the Mattel WWE line has been incredible and I have been overall VERY pleased with the product. Mattel made the WWE toy exciting again.
Look, I'm a smart guy. I get that there is a budget in place and tough decisions have to be made. I get that the global marketplace is ever-changing and adjustments are sometimes inevitable. I also want to keep in mind that a year ago, we weren't getting championship belts or real accessories to speak of, with the exception of cloth shirts & bases. However, Mattel's WWE figure line is allegedly one of the best selling toy lines on the market. That presents to us the idea that Mattel is having great success with this product, yet we continue to see small cuts made here and there, continuously chipping away at the details that we are PAYING FOR. Since launch, the price of a Mattel WWE Elite figure has risen at retail from $14.99 to $16.99 for the average American consumer. This increase in price point comes WITH manufacturing cuts to packaging and figure bases. I personally don't mind cuts in these areas as long as the product remains premium, since I am paying what I consider to be a premium price at $17 per figure. I agree with others here in that if the belts cannot be released properly with Elites, why not wait and release them properly later? (I hope) you would not release a figure with no paint, and this makes equally little sense. In addition, I feel that the Elite & DM lines should be the LAST to suffer budget cuts, while Rumblers, Flex Force and Basics should all be first to the chopping block respectively.
By all means, release dull, unpainted belts and rubber shirts in the cheaper lines when possible. They're a great little bonus. But keep the Elite & Defining Moments lines PREMIUM.

Miz shouldn't have come with a lackluster belt. It's as simple as that. They should have just not included it.... nobody would be upset with it right now. They also would have saved money for their budget. It's not rocket science. Miz should have came with a t-shirt and the briefcase.
Like I said before, it would be smarter to release the championships (at their highest quality), only when it fits within their budget... like when the rest of the set doesn't require as many accessories.
The positive way of looking at this is..... the "dull" belt is a bonus. Miz could have easily just come witha briefcase... no one would be complaining right now. Look at Elite Yoshi Tatsu... he came with nothing.

I hate to say it but alot of you guys are acting like spoiled childen. IMO i think the whole rubber shirt thing is good, the cloth shirts tend to look very tattered around the edges, as with the rubber shirt orton has it looks like the shirt orton really wears and not some homeless guy whos had the shirt on for years. And for the belts, i'll gladly take a somewhat dull belt that has all the details painted over the belts we got and still get from jakks any say.

No matter what Mattel does people are going to b1tch. The Elites are still the most detailed WWE figures out there. I could care less about the accessories...And I really don't care about the T-shirts, but if I had a choice I'd want belts, entrance robes or wrestler specific accessories (HHH w/ Sledge).
But back to the point they were giving us cloth shirts and heard nothing except complaints about how they stained the figures...so now they've showed us 1 Elite figure in a rubber shirt and everyone is b!tching about it not being cloth! Do you want stained figures or not? Again if I was Mattel I'd have dropped the shirts altogether.
Belts - Everyone complained that there were no belts and now we have gotten belts that are just as detailed as Jakks (actually they are better than Jakks) and people complained at they are only with Elites or the plate was too flat. So Mattel now releases them with the Flexforce (all rubber so the curve around the figure) and in a Basic 4-Pack and yet people still complain.
Mattel has listened to what you've wanted and changed to try to accommodate you and yet no sooner than they do and there's more complaints. Now the belts aren't shiney enough for you...Personally I think the shades of gold on the belts are fine.

Anyway, having the dull belt makes it look like they will do that all the time. In reality, it was in fact a bonus. All I wanted was the RAW MitB case so I'm happy. I think the idea here is that we hope they won't do the dull belts all the time, and mostly do the true golden ones. Nothing more sinister to it. |

The Orton and Rey Rey with rubber shirts won't make it to Canada anyways, so it doesn't bother me. Unless Mattel improves distribtuion. Seriously, even for the 2 elites we get, every 2 legends, and basics, we only get a select few series. We never got Elite 7, Elite 8, Basic 5, etc. Plus the ones that do make it into Canada stay in the stores for months, and I'm talking about Batista and Punk figures. Jobbers clear out fast here, main eventers don't.

I'm less concerned with Miz's belt than I am with Mattel's damn distribution.
Get that together, Mattel, please. And don't say it's on the retailers totally, because whenever JAKKS released a new set it would consistently show up across the country at TRU.
I am sick of guessing where each Series will show up.... if it will show up at all.

Gotta spend money to make money. Its how the rich stay rich,right? No, but that would be how the dumb waste money. You don't simply spend money to make money. You spend money intelligently. There are times that means increasing expenses, and times it means contracting them. If they see a sharp reduction in demand for dull finish belts, they will respond. They may, however, be correct that this is an expense that will not be profitable. I'm pissed about it, too. I flatly will never buy a figure that comes with a dull-finish belt. I have the capacity, however, to recognize that not everyone feels the way I do. Even if there seem to be a bunch of people online who agree with me, I know that this is no meaningful evidence of how prevalent my views are. I'll gladly tell Mattel how I feel as a customer, and I'll vote with my wallet. I will also acknowledge, however, that they may be fine without my business and that's their choice to make. If it makes business sense for them, I've nothing to complain about. All I can do is my little part to make it not make business sense. I can't just demand that I get what I want just 'cuz. |

Mattel should do away with the box style package. Make it smaller and save a few pennies. Plus less trash to add to the environment. All toy companies should follow. Some of the elaborate packaging is ridiculous. I don't have a dog in this fight. I like to keep it simple 90% of my figures are in their trunks. Bill mentioned Barbies high production run. Why didn't Mattel manufacture enough belts to cover multiple series in the first production. Do that rather than stop the machines only for wave 10. Then have to restart for wave 11 and so on. I hope I worded that right  . Maybe some of the manufacturing/industrial geniuses can explain that. I know budget, inventory costs, blah, blah, blah. It's not like the belts wouldn't get used. edit: If you hate dull belts then don't buy the figure. If the sales drop on figures with dull belts, what might happen? |
