I'm one of those people who would rather have a detailed title belt than other accessories. Miz didn't need that briefcase and I'm sure that right there could have gone towards making the belt shiny. As far as the shirts go I could care less about those as well. Usually any accessory that comes with a figure I put on Ebay or just toss in the trash. The belts are really the only extra thing I care about and it would be nice if they were always detailed as much as possible.

The real inexcusable thing from Elite 11 is the RUBBER SHIRT that comes with Rey Mysterio! A RUBBER SHIRT! That is completely unacceptable for a figure that sells for $15+ at retail and even more on the internet. The farther we get into the line, the higher the prices rise and the more the details are taken away, the more it becomes apparent that Mattel was not financially prepared to take on making WWE figures. Yeah, everything started out AWESOME and there is no denying what a fabulous job was done in the first year.....which makes it even more obvious and disappointing when they start to take those awesome things away from us. First they took the stands and the name tags away, now we are getting dull belts, and now some of the cloth shirts are gone and we're getting RUBBER SHIRTS....yet the prices keep on rising while the quality keeps on DROPPING! 100% Agree. And anogther thing that annoys me is alot of people on here prefer to make excuse's for Mattel instead of standing up for themselves and asking what the is going on! Where getting ripped off people and theres no need for it. This is coming from a huge fan of you Mattel....You going to start losing collectors like me who have every Elite, DM, Legend and EG you have plus alot of basics

For every collector they loose they know there's 3 more new ones coming. We make up such a small amount of their buisness. Every day there's new people buying their first figure. And I've said it before I don't buy figures for their accessories. I don't think I have one Elite figure that is wearing the clothing they came with. The clothing and bases are all burried in a box in the closet.

Sell the dull belts with the basics and make HIGH END belts (die cast even) and sell them through WF or on Mattycollector. Complete belt sets for $40 - $50. You want them, pay for them. I want them and I would pay for them. Can't afford them? You have options.
Bill, you're welcome.

I read the thread headline too quickly and thought Jakks had called out Bill. I thought there was an action figure war happening! I'm a little disappointed, haha.

There's no way they'd sell anywhere near enough $50 belt sets to make the production costs back. You don't know the costs and neither do I. Nor do I know what the markup would be to make the project worthwhile. $50 was a number thrown out but the demand is there and you can bet your ass people would buy it. Look on eBay, they buy garbage paper belts for $10-$15...I'd pay for a quality set of belts made by Mattel.

can't please everyone. i already have an elite Miz and 2 shiny belts from Sheamus, so I'm content. as others have said Elite Yoshi came with nothing and elite Jericho came with a mic, be happy Miz came with a case and a belt. call it an excuse or call it being a realist, Mattel can't always give us what we want for the price we want to pay. thats how business works.

Personally theres some accessories mattel have put in with figures, altho cool are quite unneccesary.
I only collect Legends so my examples would be , Steamboats alligator , Terry Funks cowboy clothes, snukas shirt, vaders cape, george steels "mine" + shirt , Bam Bams jacket etc
I Love Mattels accessories, but they should sell a character or two per set with none and Keep the rest top notch, Vaders Mask, Perfects Towel, Machos Shades/Hat , Ric Rudes Robe are all Pretty essential accessories .
Im Just saying, I Would Rather Have a Figure or Two with No Accessories in each series than Lose quality on essential accessories. Guys Like The Ultimate Warrior are a Buy with or without accessories...
Sometimes its like Mattel Just Throws some accessorie into a figure package even though it has nothing to do with that character, And that is Awesome mattel does that, but if it means a half assed belt or accessorie with someone else then just leave the meaningless accessorie out

I can understand the frustrations some see but Mattel made the right call here. In the Miz's case, the main accessory is the red MitB briefcase, not the WWE belt. There's already a shiny WWE belt so I'm glad we get the companion piece to the blue Smackdown briefcase, that came with Kane, so soon. Dull versions of existing belts are fine by me, I just want debut belts to be shiny. Right now, we really only need three more types of belts; The new Tag Team belts, the Divas belt, and I'd like a shiny resized US Title.
In Rey's case, I want to see the rubber shirt before I pass judgment on it. I should get my set of Elites next week, so I'll review them then.
Thank you, Bill, for your response! It's both an honest and very insightful reply to our concerns. It's only natural that we want the most we can get without paying extra but I'm not going to pretend to know how a multi-million dollar company is run. The day-to-day operations of Mattel are simply beyond me. I know enough to imagine that even the slightest change, like hemming shirts, changing packaging, and vac-metalizing belts, is easier said than done. I can appreciate all the effort the MDT puts into these figures given the limitations of budgets and lower volume numbers to spread out costs over.
I'm not just defending Mattel blindly here, I'm simply spending my money on the company that's making the best WWE figures. To me, Mattel is clearly above the rest in this regard. Increasing costs is sadly a reality we all have to deal with, regardless of the state of the economy. I remember when Star Wars figures were $2.99 at KB Toys. Those days are gone and now I see a $7.99 price tag for the 100th version of Vader!

As long as they're trying new things I don't think they're Jakking around.
I did like the stands and cloth shirts though, even though they were ragged looking(George Steele being the exception). Cloth items were one of the items that they boasted they could do better than anyone else...and they're not doing it anymore?
There are good changes like Basic belts, I just think the line revisions have been consistently disappointing, thus we rage.

Mattel value's your opinions and that's why they're here. Say it with a smile please.... here's an example ;D. Ok too much this will do . Thanks! JS For the price of a 6 inch action figure it seems Mattel simply cannot produce a great figure. ;D They either have to cut back on the details or raise the price, hence the lack luster accessories and repaints. . Every wave of figures we design has to meet a budget. This is true for every product put out on the market. When we begin to design a wave we plan to include as much as possible. And there is your problem, you include to much which results in the released figures coming across as cheaply thrown together. ;D Either release some more repaints per wave or cut back on what you are including. ;D Mattel does NOT have to be involved with this forum, as far as I am concerned you should all treat it as a privilege that they're here and interact with us. It's fine to disagree and ask questions, but you really need to chill out and at least come off as somewhat respectful if you honestly want Mattel around here. Some of the angry responses are aimed more at members with the standard apathetic who gives a attitude which is pretty much standard nowadays in everything. ;D Maybe that is whats wrong with the country. ;D

People need to chill out. We are lucky to get interaction with Mattel and it can be such a great thing if handled right so people need to speak more maturely about this.
The response mattel gave us was perfectly vald. They obviously look at the likelihood of something reappearing in the line and of the accessories, it made the most sense to take the vac process off the belt and this is a justified decision.
People REALLY need to stop with the thought process of increasing a budget by removing lines or lowering the price of figures because of the lesser detail because they are not workable solutions. They wont invest more money into a single budget for a line or figure to increase the detail because its likely not going to have much of an effect, nowhere near as much as using that budget for another line. You cant double the input if the price is going to stay the same. Lowering the price because of detail removal doesnt work either, the reason the detail is removed in the first place is to KEEP the price within the current range, if you took the price down, youd have to take further detail out.
It should come as no surprise to anyone here that the cost of production and materials is ever increasing so it's not like things such as this should be such a surprise. Its a matter of working with what youve got and mattel have obviously been strategic in cutting back in the areas which can be rectified or have already been covered.
Prior to Bills response, I was wondering the thought process behind what they did too but at the end of the day, they cleared it all up and its valid as to why we have what we have. Thanks Bill for clearing things up.
