Hey there. I did something yesterday and wanted to know if anyone else had done it before when searching for figures.
I went to a Kmart after work because I knew that their stock usually comes in on Wednesday or Thursday. When I went to the toy aisle, I saw a cart with several unopened boxes on it. I checked the sides and one contained WWE Mattel figures and the other had TNA Deluxe Series 5.
I walked around the entire back of the store looking for an employee to ask about the figures and could not find anyone. I walked up front and the customer service line was long so I did not wait. I returned to the cart and pulled the boxes off myself and opened them. I got the Mattel Summerslam Heritage figures that I wanted from the first box and even pulled a few TNA Deluxe figures out to buy like Angelina Love and Jeff Hardy.
Have you ever "helped" open new inventory like this? I just didnt want to wait or miss the figures I wanted.
Thanks!

I've dug through a few that have been opened already, but never found myself opening one of them myself.

I did it with the Nexus two-packs and Rumblers series 2 a few months ago. New unopened boxes sitting right in front of the shelves.

Yes but not with wrestling figures. My Walmart has a terrible habit of NEVER re-stocking items and just leaving boxes and boxes full of dvds and blu-rays around the store. I'll usually come in and rummage through them to find movies I'm looking to purchase.

I did it a lot during the Jakks era. Fun times. With Mattel I've done it a few times myself but most times an employee gets the box from the back or shelf.

i went to my local smyths when i wanted elite ryder and miz. they never had them there but when i looked right up top i saw an unopened box that said 'mattel elite action figures'. a very pretty member of staff came by at that moment and i asked if she was putting them out she said ' no the shelves are full but il get them down for you if you'd like?', i said yes, so she went and got her ladder and i watched her lovely little butt go up and come down with this unopened box, she sliced the tape open and said ' just leave the box by the ladder when your finished'. i went through loads of undies each figure having a protective sheet of paper in between eachone and then finally there was zach followed by the miz, i almost cryed......a beutiful woman and 2 figures that are still in my top 5 that i own to this day. one of the best days of my life ;D

I've pulled stuff from top stock at my local TRU before but it was never anything good/new so I put it back up there.

I do it at WalMart. Just take my key and break the tape and open the boxes. I don't even bother to try and look for an employee anymore. Those f*ckers are outside smoking cigarettes.

All the time. It's more fun pulling them from the box. One of my Walmarts has an employees only area in the garden department. Usually they use it to store toys and seasonal merchandise. I was looking behind the curtained off area and I saw an unopened DCUC case about 25 ft away. I ran in, grabbed the box, brought it back to the other side and opened it. Another time I climbed a ladder (only about 4 steps) for UFC. I was looking for an extra Royce Gracie. A girl caught me looking in the box and started yelling at me, I didn't see Gracie but I grabbed a Mir 1 of 1000. She wanted me to put it back but I told her it came from the toy dept shelves.

I popped a box at my local Toys R Us this morning. They had filled the shelves with Series 9 Elite, 2 Pack 10 , Wrestlemania XXVII Basic. Every thing but Wrestlemania XXVII Elite which is what I was looking for. So I saw a box on pallet that said Mattel WWE on it so out come my keys and oops an open box. Crap it was Series 12 Basic. So all the pegs are full except what I wanted, oh well what you gunna do.

I think retailers don't want you rifling through the freight because they pay people to do it and i'm sure there are insurance reasons too.
I'm in favor of you getting what you want though, it's just a bitch when we get 6 cases of something and some bastard "cherry picks" all the scarce ones. Even though it's all the same sales in the end, it's not fair for other collectors.
I stock them all the time, it's a bummer when you see multiples of a peg warmer, or when a figure isn't in the case because it's a chase figure like the Hart Dynasty.
