come december it would have been 10 years since I signed up with the forums. things sure have changed a lot since then, licenses have switched hands, prices have gone up, figures have improved. But somehow my love for wrestling has always remained. anyways, since mattel's run, I don't feel the need for doing extensive "customizing" any longer; I think their sculpts are fantastic (well their head scans still need work), they've got good articulation, and their relative scale is pretty damn good. of course they aren't perfect, but i guess that's the fun of the hobby, tweaking little bits to make the figures perfect. So here's my thread of mattel fixups. there is still some sculpting involved in my work, but i try to keep the factory skin tones. enough rambling. hope you guys enjoy! first up a couple of my older fix ups. I've taken the time to give all of them little white dots in the eyes and a coat of gloss for added realism, though it migh not show too well in the flicks. I also decided to remove the sculpted nipples in lieu of them fitting in better with my other mattel figures, but for the most part it baffled me why people seemed so surprised to see something anatomically correct on a figure. Bob Orton sculpted socks, armcast Nikolai Volkoff sculpted socks

Steve Austin sculpted wristbands, swapped out arms with a ufc figure and legs from a demolition ax. I think I've found a better way to take apart the legs of these mattel figures. the trick is to separate the hip joint. that way you can remove the legs without cracking open the torso and pelvis, which after all these years i still find a bitch to do. up next..chris benoit

cheers,
I don't have a pic of the original any more, but to me both the arms and thighs in particular felt way too skinny for austin's build. I wanted a little bulk on the figure which is why i ended up switching parts

Love the fixups. The socks are a pain to paint (let alone sculpt) so great job on that too!

haha thanks guys,
I started working on a demolition crush a while ago but for now that piece will be on the back burner, will probably revise it to better fit with the mattel line

Chris Benoit modified a legends pillman. shortened the shins by a fair amount to make sure he's now in scale. ufc arms, sculpted wrist tape, repainted hair, stubble

Do you have more views than just the front? Really interested to see the sides, etc.
