a little surprised by the lack of cody, but i suppose the 7th could be the blowoff with kenny. but without him, okada is the logical name in that group. unless they wanna start tension between kenny and ibushi?

Cody announced a few days ago he wouldn't be in the G1 a few days ago because of a project he's working on. He would have been a much better choice then Tama Tonga who failed to impress last year.

The blocks are as follows:
BLOCK A; EVIL, Bad Luck Fale, Michael Elgin, Togi Makabe, Kazuchika Okada, Adam "Hangman" Page, Minoru Suzuki, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jay White and YOSHI-HASHI.
BLOCK B; Hirooki Goto, Kota Ibushi, Tomohiro Ishii, Tetsuya Naito, IWGP Champion Kenny Omega, Juice Robinson, Zack Sabre Jr., SANADA, Tama Tonga, and Toru Yano.
Holy $#!t we're getting Ibushi vs. Omega.

ibushi defeats omega at some point during the tourney (maybe even the last night of the block phase?) to win a tiebreaker and win his block, okada wins his block, and okada defeats ibushi to win the whole thing. omega should also lose to one other guy during the block phase to set up something for the future... zack sabre jumps out, but i also feel like sanada is pretty close to something special, so im cool with either of those.

of course tanahashi/okada and omega/ibushi end their respective blocks. no other way.
based on the way the schedule breaks down, my guess... a block ends looking something like: okada, evil, tanahashi, jay white as the 4 guys in contention; b block: ibushi, omega, sabre jr, naito as the 4 guys in contention.

Looking forward to the G1 Climax. First year i plan on watching. I would like to see Okada vs Naito in the finals with Naito winning. However I fear Okada is winning. Oh well, should be great matches

With the opportunity to attend my first WK in January, I have never been more excited for a G1 to start than this years.

Okada and MiSu went to a 30 draw on MiSu's 30th anniversary show, it was held outdoors and it rained.

I really hope we get a Naito or Ibushi win here but I’m not going to be stupid here as act like Okada isn’t in the running.
Me personally? I’d stay far away from Okada/Omega for a LONG time. Don’t ruin something that has been so special.

Four epic matches in a year and a half is good enough I'd say. Omega winning as champion would be a huge way to put him over, even more so than he already is. Maybe their way of saying "please... don't leave, please stay."
I'm also super stoked that the last three days of G1 are Friday AM, Saturday AM, and Sunday AM. The three nights a week I don't work. I don't know if that's how they always schedule it, but I'm damn sure happy that's the way it is.

I can't see anyone other than Okada, Ibushi, Naito winning the G1. Personally, I'd go with Omega vs Ibushi at WK and save Okada vs Naito for next year's main event.
