As a none NJPW regular watcher, how did Omega earn the title shot at Dominion? Omega just went up to Okada after his match with Tanahashi and challenged him for the title. Thats pretty much it. There was unfinished business with those two in storyline because they were 1-1-1 in the three matches they had Makes sense. I was glad he finally won it, because those guys killed it in their last 3 matches and this one was spectacular. I’m defo gonna check in more with NJPW as Jericho as IC champ and Kenny as world but until then. Goodbye and goodnight 👉🏽 (Oh and there still shouldn’t be an NJPW board lol)

Okada called him out to the ring, and I believe challenged him to one more match. But if I recall correctly Omega added the 2/3 Falls no time limit stipulation.

yep, okada called him out, and then kenny added the stipulations. As a none NJPW regular watcher, how did Omega earn the title shot at Dominion? thats typically how it goes down for most belts. after a successful defense, a worthy challenger usually comes out, either with a post match attack, or just a promo asking for a title shot. on this show alone, the bucks did that with lij, and elgin and taichi did it with goto, in addition to okada/omega... and of course jericho attacking naito a bunch of times.

I skipped Okada and Tanahashi since i was on my no Okada matches unless im sure he'd lose thing lol.

So Dominion was SOTY. Okada vs. Omega IV was a masterpiece. Jericho vs. Naito was good. Ospreay vs. Hiromu wasgreat and the right man won. Hiromu is on fire now and the Jr. division is his for the next few years. The most notable this from the show is New Japan is clearly ready to expand with all the title changes and Harold Meji being introduced to the crowd, hopefully it's a slow and steady process.

The 1st 4 matches for the Cow Palice show on July 7th have been announced, doesn't look like Chris Jericho will wrestle on the show.
Cody Rhodes vs. Kenny Omega II for the IWGP Title Bucks vs. Evil and Sanada, rematch from Dominion Okada and Will Ospreay vs. Naito and BUSHI Jay White vs. Juice Robinson for the IWGP US Title

Fingers crossed they sell out with these 4 matches as the main draw. I will say I'm a little unhappy about Jericho not defending the title at the Cow Palace

Why are people unhappy with Omega vs. Cody? Don't want it to happen right away?

Cody vs Kenny is the perfect main for that show. I'm super pumped. Besides, they're going to be 1-1 after it. So there is plenty of room to do a tie breaker match between them in the future. Anyone Kenny is going to face on that show is taking an L. At least the story is already built with those two. So they can use it to continue their disfunction.
Maybe Juice wins the title. Seems likely to me. Be nice for someone from the US to actually wear that strap.
I thought Bucks vs LIJ was the second best match from Dominion. So I'll take that rematch all day.
I think those are 4 great matches. Other than no Jericho, who they need to use extremely sparingly imo, not sure what else people could want coming off of Dominion. Jericho may not want to do any of the US NJPW shows because of WWE. I wouldn't blame him for sitting those out. I think Rey Mysterio probably ends up working that card as well, which will be fun. Maybe a great spot to do Rey vs Marty Scurll.

aside from jericho vs evil, i dont know what else anyone would want. and im not sure where that wouldve left the bucks anyway, in terms of a legit team to face them, since evil/sanada were relatively dominant as champs.
obviously kenny and the bucks retain, so my only real hope is juice takes the belt from jay white. im not much of a fan of white, and juice has charisma for days.

Meltzer gave Okada/Omega IV 7 *'s so it's the greatest match he ever saw. Jericho/Naito got 4 1/2 *'s.

So 7 stars. What was the previous high? 6.25? Couldn’t he just go to 6.5? Made me laugh is all, I don’t dislike Meltzer or anything like that. Nothing will likely ever top this match.... until Omega/Okada V happens lol.

I have a feeling Okada/Omega V could happen in the G1 during one of the final 3 shows. gotta sell out Budokan Hall 3 straight nights some how.

This is why I never take anything Meltzer reviews serious, and i never use a star system to rate a match. Cause honestly, how the f*** do you determine a half star, or a third or 3/4? Its dumb IMO.

agreed, the whole star rating system is insane to me. i know okada/omega was one of the greatest matches ever. but how does one decide it was a quarter star better than say taker/hbk, or flair/steamboat? and it truly jumped the shark the first time meltzer gave out 6 stars. now we're up to 7 stars. so every time kenny omega wrestles, hes just gonna reinvent his system. awesome.
