I can still see the Yankees going to the playoffs. I don't see them winning the WS though. That's a pretty illogical statement if you think about it. Every team in the Playoffs has the same chance of winning. The HOTTEST team wins the World Series, not the BEST team. Hot and cold streaks apply in the Playoffs. If the Yankees were to make it to the Playoffs, they would have just as much chance of winning the World Series as any of the other teams. So I don't see how you can logically say you see the Yankees overcoming their weaknesses over a 162 game campaign, but then don't see them being able to do it for another 11 Postseason wins (12 if they are a Wild Card team). Because playoffs are different than the regular season. You can make it to the playoffs by eating the lunches of all the weaker teams and being mediocre against better teams. In fact there's almost always one team in the playoffs ever year that does that. They have like a .700+ win percentage against sub .500 teams and against teams with winning records they're like .515 or something lame like that. So when they get to the playoffs where all the teams are good teams their weaknesses are exposed and they're one and done.

A bad team has got a much better chance at getting hot for 2 weeks than enduring over a 162 game season. If they decided to pick the 2nd Wild Card by random lottery drawing and a team like the Astros or Twins were selected to just simply be placed in the Playoffs, they would have just as much chance to win as teams like the Angels, Tigers, A's, Rangers or anybody else. Just like how a team that was a powerhouse in the regular season can go cold for 3 or 4 days in the Playoffs and get eliminated, a team that isn't good on paper can get hot for a few days and win it all. But the problem is, those teams that are bad are exposed during the season and don't make it to the Playoffs. So yeah, you're wrong.

Completely incorrect. Yes, the playoffs are often won by a team that gets hot at the right moment, but they have to be a good team to begin with. The Royals can get hot all they want, but they're not going to win a dozen games against teams that won 95+ games in the year. They're not a good team to begin with.

If a team has to play a one game playoff to get in the playoffs they'd have the same odds as the team they are playing in the one game playoff...not the teams in the playoffs already. They have to play an extra game, so there's a 50/50 shot they get in or not in one game, the other three teams are already secured. AFTER the one game playoff, everyone's got the same odds. Except the Yankees.

Im still convinced he could have been a Cy Young winner had he not broke his foot running the bases. Such a shame. Definitley smart of them to bring him back and its virutally no-risk

It's a nice move. Low risk, high reward. Can't imagine why any team would not make that move if they had the opportunity.

Do you not realize that is exactly what I just said? You made a RIDICULOUS STATEMENT when you said that you can see the Yankees making the Playoffs, but DO NOT see them winning the World Series. If you can make the Playoffs, you can win the World Series. Once the Playoffs start, throw the regular season stats out the window. If you suck, you aren't making the Playoffs. If the Yankees end up making the Playoffs, then clearly they will have not sucked and will have just as much chance as every other team to win it all. I'm not really understanding where exactly you are losing this in translation, but I find this discussion tiresome.

Shoulda had a break out the past 2 years I watched him play for the Richmond Flying Squirrels (double A affiliate of SF) in 2010 for a couple months and you could just tell he was something special. The past two seasons he's gotten red hot at the end of the year.

The fact that the Giants have won 2 World Series's in spite of their stupidity is amazing.

Yankees signed Chen Ming-Wang to a minor league contact, lol. Wow. I think its a good move. The guy was our #1 starter and a future Cy Young winner IMO until he got hurt.

The Nats paid him $4M last year to crap the bed and stay injured so a minor league deal isn't too bad. He's a decent pitcher to have around for insurance. He might have a couple of good years left in him. Hell, look at Barry Zito. Who would have guessed he would come through last year?

Yankees close to acquiring Vernon Wells... .......I got nothing. He is doing well in spring training, but there is just no room in the Angels outfield for him with Bourjos, Trout and Hamilton. Wells has AL East experience and in Yankee Stadium, he could hit .300/20 HRs/100 RBIs
